Frog Drop, White Wind, Angel's Snack, Mighty Guard.... Auto-Life is great as well but it was a waste of a Frog Drop. :D That battle was pretty much a race against Ozma meteoring the shit out of you.

For such a weird character, Quina was quality.

I don't think there was a bad character in 9, but that is an incredibly handy list of skills. IIRC Quina's standard attack was pretty decent too, for cutting through the rabble.

How does limit works? Are they random or less HP I have and/or bad status chances are higher to use the most powerful limit (Lion heart in Squall's case cause I have his final weapon)?

You need to be low on HP for you to use them, if you keep pressing skip turn when your HP is yellow (Triangle I think) it will eventually come up. Later on in the game there's a magic which lets you use limits whenever.

You can learn a lot of Quistis' limit breaks with items, so check your items to see if any of them teach Quistis skills. The magic you get later is around about Disc 3 I think. Squall and Irvine have had the best limit breaks in my experience. Although Rinoas dog learns some great skills too.

Yep, I have degenerator for Quistis, and I have learnt a lot of Rinoa's limits which at times could be awesome. The problem was that although I have upgrade Squall's weapon to Lionheart I don't see any difference in Renzokuken. He just makes about 5 or more attacks.

Which can be vital in some battles, most notably in acquiring the Tonberry GF.

Does anything between 12 damage and about 8000. :D

Come to think of it, I think you need to get Renzokuken a number of times before the final one happens regularly. I never got it as early on as you did so I was getting it every time when I did finally go searching for Adamantines et al. Luck stats help as well. At the moment you're probably just getting the extended Renzokuken instead of the madness that will follow.

Zell's limit break is the best though, especially with very high luck. Just completely abuse punch rush and booya and you can hit the enemy about 100 times or something. Boring but you can get it doing more than Squall's like that.

Yeah, it really does feck shit up. Put Aura on luck with Zell and equip Cactuar's main luck ability and he does a critical every other hit too. Any luck ups should always go to Zell, but I think it's basically impossible to farm them without losing your mind.

True. Above all, I don't know what they were thinking with making Holy Wars/Heroes so accessible.

Haven't seen this posted yet:

People in the comments are saying it has been confirmed to be open world with airships and stuff. Excitement level rising once more....

Is there absolutely no chance that this is going to be released on PC? Edit: Never mind, looked it up and it does appear there is at least a possibility of it.

Agree, looks a bit...weird. But then again, FF 12 had a different system of combat but i actually liked that (and the game itself) and it didn't feel too different to what we had previously.

It is shockingly different. Those scenes in-battle do look a lot like Kingdom Hearts 2 reaction commands, though. If the difficulty is there, I'm all for it so far as battle system goes. Would obviously love a traditional turn based RPG but I'm not opposed to how that looks on the surface of things.

100 times? fecking hell, that pretty much kills everything. Is there an enemy who has more than 100k HP? And it must be boring, seeing Zell hitting the enemy for some minutes :p.

Dunno, until now Rinoa limits seems to be interesting and different but I am not seeing difference in Squall's limits.

Very strange looking combat there. Seems they're trying to mix Uncharted gameplay into an RPG or something.

Still, looks amazing.

Yeah, it's boring! 100 times is maybe an exaggeration on reflection but it's enough to lose count many times over (50+ or something? you get about 12 seconds sometimes!) - you can do those two combos in fractions of a second over and over again until the counter runs out. There are a few that would survive it from memory; there is one boss that has completely ungodly amounts of health if you're at level 100, for example. Similar sort of amount to Emerald and Ruby Weapon from FF7 and it's a very hard fight without cheapening the fight with certain items or one of Selphie's limit breaks.

You don't get Squall's last limit break in auto mode, by the way. I think it basically halves the chance of doing it too if you miss a trigger.

So just to be clear, the chances are higher to use Lionheart if I am very low in HP (lower than the requirement for limits) and/or I am on aura status?

Pre-requirement: To don't have the limits in auto.

Right?

Yeah, that's right. Having a decent luck stat probably helps too and I think the chance increases the more Renzokukens you do. I was getting it every time so there must be some sort of method to it.

Found my old boxes of GBA and DS games, forgot how much gold Nintendo had on their handhelds.

On topic, Final Fantasy 1, 3, 4, 5, Tactics, Ring Of Fates(can't remember if I enjoyed that one). Also forgot how much time you have to spend blowing the cartridges.

Who is the best card player in the game? I just defeated Quistis a.k.a King. Is anyone better than her?

The headmaster in Fisherman's Horizon is quite good, but he's mostly a level 7 card player. Xu at the end of the game tends to have every card you've not got from what I remember, so she can be quite good if you've missed or refined some good cards. Still though, if you've got a load of player cards and the rules are simple you can't really lose to anyone.

Not sure where you are in the game so for card players:

Ellone is quite hard. fecking hell, trying to get Laguna from her was a bitch

Edea is pretty good too. These are slightly down to rules though.

Haven't played with the Fisherman ever, I think that I missed him cause I left Horizon. I have every card from the 7 first levels except a card of level 5 (dunno why) and I have about half of the cards in other three levels. Have refined only Minotaur and Angelo.

On other news, Tonberry King was annoying, but I defeated him on first try. Also killing 22 Tonberry wasn't fun at all, but the fun was using Lionheart limit. It's crazy, dunno exactly but I think that it does more than 30000 damage.

The card you are missing is Pupu. You need to do a sidequest to get the card.

Already seems to have more about it than 13. They have taken about 40 years making it so that was to be expected.

Dunno why, but this guy:

His death is written all over this game. I've convinced myself that one of the major plot events will be his demise; probably because Noctis is a prince that'll end up being the main man in the kingdom, and because he's too much of an emo not to go through some sad, depressive spell. There's probably a proper reason somewhere at the back of my mind but yeah...he's going to die.

Just realised I probably should've spoilered that originally...

Yeah good kings and all. It just seems impossible that we'll go through the whole game without that potential tragedy being capitalised on, what with Noctis' seemingly good relationship there too.

Plot spoiling aside, I'm extremely excited now. feck's sake. I've even signed a PC version petition and everything. I'm hoping that because there was a Tomb Raider PC port that we'll see more from Square Enix on that front in the future.

That would be quite the side-quest.
There was an RPG with a sub-quest where you had to find Blind Guardian's instruments before a concert. Once the concert was unlocked, you could watch it anytime. Game was Sacred 2.

As for homeboy the king, yup, walking corpse. Unless he joins the bad guys, there's a longshot on that.

Signed, though I doubt that they'll do anything about it. Square just hates PC.

I started 13 again yesterday. It really isn't a bad game at all, the battle system is incredibly fun and I'm still at the early stage with regards to Paradigms and the Crystarium so it will only get better. Lightning is better than I remember her to be aswell.

It's biggest killer though is it's linearity, which I know I'm going to have to stomach for a while longer yet. It's a royal pain in the ass but I'm going to try and stick with it as I think once I'm past it I will really enjoy the game. I really hope they don't make that same mistake with XV.
