Nice! Now go feck up that bar owner. :D

Did id. Got the Siren card. By the way abolished Elemental too, but that's not of big importance cause it wasn't a that big harmful rule.

Squall was likeable enough.
I cannot stand him at the moment. Usually I like my personal (lead) characters but Squall is a bit shit. Hopefully he'll become better.

Jesus, Sephiroth used to hammer my ass, and I'm sure I played it on a fairly easy difficulty.
On FF7, or KH?

What is the stuff with Kingdome Hearts? Do this game combine different characters, some of them from various Final Fantasy games?

Better off without it though, no problems there!

Definitely one of the most developed leads, which is nice, but at times detrimental to the supporting cast, especially Selphie, IIRC, she's foreign and likes trains.

KH, he's a beast of a boss, I can't imagine the tougher ones.

A few from different FF games, mixed in for some reason with Disney characters.

I had to go on Youtube to see how Sephiroth was beaten - it was genuinely shocking seeing someone beat him without even getting hit once. One hit from him on proud used to knock off most off my health, and then there's that bastard of an attack taken from FF7 that puts you down to 1hp. I did some gay dance and fist pump when I finally took him down. That's the sort of shit he reduced me to.

Not one hit, man, I would have thought that impossible! Of course I used to just run in hacking.

What does everyone think of the XV trailers?

Looks to me to be a good game, but very little says Final Fantasy, besides crystals, monsters, and the title...

Same to me. It also looked to be too much action. Dunno, but it could easily be the main reason to buy a PS4

Yeah, wouldn't have believed it without seeing it.

FFXV is Versus, right? Looks stunning as ever but it's difficult to say. Looked to have a sort of Kingdom Hearts battle system when I saw it and I wouldn't be opposed to that. Shimomura is also doing the score like in KH so that's bound to be good.

Bit difficult to get an idea of a storyline from trailers but it at least looks to have more about it than the tragedy that was XIII. Looked to have some of the same cheesy dialogue though, too. The series is crying out for a quality, iconic lead character so hopefully they deliver with Noctis.

One thing that concerns me is that crystals and war is sounding very cliche on the surface of things. I hope there's a bit of depth to that because that's a worry at this point.

Yup. I skipped both consoles this gen (gone with only PC and somehow broke my PS2). Anyway, if I am going to get one, it surely is PS. And probably the most anticipated PS exclusive for me is FF15.

The graphics are mindblowing, but that;s one thing they always do right, in their ages VII, VIII and especially IX were immense, XII and XIII were truly gorgeous, though I didn't like either game. Completely lost the Final Fantasy feel, IMO. Always said Lost Odyssey was a million times closer to the classic vibe.

Yeah, it's Versus rebranded. Story definitely looks to have something about it, as you say. You need a little bit of cheese, wouldn't be an RPG otherwise! Adds a bit of fun.

FFXV won't be exclusive, I think.

I was absolutely stunned when VIII came out. I've just watched the FMVs from Dollet at the top of the tower and it still looks good now!

VII was really good at PC, VIII is a very unpolished game. Square really hates PC.
It's shocking, whole section of the market they constantly feck around.

X-ATM092 bashing the crap out of Dollet could easily hold up. Especially the bit where it slides into the main street and crushes the car.

The machinery...it's mad. That was almost 3 generations ago. 14 years...

I know a load of people hated disc swapping, but I didn't give a hoot, when it lead to that kind of graphics. Lost Odyssey having multi-discs had me all nostalgic, I think Blue Dragon does too, another game I need to dig into.

Yeah, that's awful, I think you only had 2 choices in 9, and I honestly can't remember what setup the modern games have. 7 was the best where you could shade it and all sorts.

Finished the first disc. Squall 'died'. Also, got his final weapon lionheart, though I am not even near getting other's final weapons, but it doesn't look that it's a big deal.

Yeah, the only one you actually want is Squalls, and maybe Selphies, other than just to say you done it.

Squalls for the hit rate and limit breaks, and Selphies for the hit rate if you're bothered.

It's been years since I was into FF, I didn't really get into VII as it was probably a couple of years before my gaming obsessions began. I absolutely loved VIII though and still have the original version with all 4 discs, it was unbelievable. I quite enjoyed IX although it wasn't close to being as good as VIII. X, on the other hand, I also loved, it was epic and I loved the Blitzball segments to the game. Since then I've lost touch with the whole series really, I think I played a couple of hours of XIII before getting rid of it because it wasn't in keeping with the great series that I remembered. The trailer and gameplay from XV at E3 really blew me away though, I thought it looked absolutely brilliant even though it wasn't the same as the amazing turn-based predecessors. I'll certainly anticipate it's release and buy it when it comes out on (probably) PS4.

Yep, I got the second best weapon for Rinoa too, but haven't upgraded others. It is a lot of work for about 15+ strength. Until now the game has been too easy, cause I made good junctions but probably it will become a lot more harder in other disc.

Anyway, a bit disappointed until now. A big part of it is because the PC version of the game is extremely unpolished and it has a lot of black boxes in graphics that makes things less beautiful. Not a bad game anyway, but not even near FF6 and FF7. Probably I change my mind in the future though.

PS: Edea is the most beautiful villain ever.

Wow, found a solution about the awful black boxes. Just changed a graphic property on ff8 confic

At the moment I am junctioning tornado on strength, and depending if there is Stregth %+ ability, stregth is somewhere from 80-120. Extremely powerful for the moment.

He always gave me a japanese boy band vibe which was shit cause Rinoa was hot.

Just played both recently. Quite decent rpgs. Jansen was a great character and having a world map and transport was pretty sweet. Blue dragon is also a pretty fun game. Gets quite easy though.

Unfortunately, you've pretty much broken the game by now. :D Putting tornado on strength is the clincher for that at this point. There are a couple of bosses that can be trickier later on regardless of how strong you get, although again there are ways in which you can take the challenge out of the battles. Best thing to do would be take them head on without resorting to these methods, because they're good battles if you do that.

I agree with you on FF8, definitely. I love it but it's the one that stands out as being poorer. 9 and 10 are both amazing - would really recommend getting 10 on PCSX2 if you're after an engaging storyline. 9 is just an all round beautiful game with great humour. Basically every writer, producer, musician etc that has ever been involved with making FF has said that 9 is their favourite one.

Have fun with your next Renzokuken, by the way. You'll know what I mean when it happens. ;)

I loved the slow burn with Jansen, began off thinking "what a prat", eventually, "uhh, I guess he's not all bad", right up to loving the guy.

Looking forward to Blue Dragon's take on the job system.

Only bad thing you can say about 9 really, is the card game is a bit shite by comparison to 8's. The party/squad were pretty rigid too, I prefer like 5, 7 and 8 where you can customize. That's not a bad thing, though, just a taste one, and in no way impeded it being an utterly immense game.

Oh no, I must play this shitty (or something similar) game again? I mean it's fun on their own, but not if I spend half of the time doing it

I can't understand why they didn't make that card game in 9 more rewarding - everything about 9 was rewarding. Everything you bought/found/dug up/synthesised was amazing. Everything...except the card game.

Must admit, I do think I prefer that about 9 (regarding characters with fixed roles). 7, 8 and 10 (with the exception of Yuna in 10) were more about which characters you liked the most or which ones had the best limit breaks. 9 was more of a throwback to 6 with different characters having different talents.

Do you mean with my new limits cause I have now the Lionheart weapon? Heaven't tried them yet.

Yeah, it's an absolute beast. From what I remember, Irvine's can be almost as powerful and Zell's can be more powerful with some serious luck-J work, but just on the face of things Squall's last limit break is absurdly overpowered (a fair bit better than Knights of the Round on 7). I think there are 3 bosses in the entire game that can survive it when Squall's got 255 strength.

Nah, you can leave it alone altogether if you want. You get one item out of it later on (which you probably do want to get, to be fair), although you don't even need to have played cards to get a deck good enough to win that.

Edit: Was going to say, even though 9 is a harder FF in comparison to 6, 7 and 8, there is a mod for it that really ramps up the difficulty. I've watched a few videos of it on Youtube and it genuinely is about 10x more difficult with that. Against a particular boss, winning is pretty much out of the question and you're left more with having to just stay alive until the battle ends. The problem is that stealing is very important on FF9 and I think they've made the game too hard on the mod for that to be viable in most battles. Maybe there is a mod to increase the success rate of steal, because that's one seriously annoying ability.

Edit 2: Actually, looking over that again, I would not recommend it first time round. It really is difficult. You would have to die several times even in certain non-boss fights just to find out how to get through them.

It's not even the rewards I'm on about, tbh(you have Chocobo Hot and Cold for that), just that 9's version of the card game isn't very good in it's own right. I enjoy 8's card game on it's own merits, 9's not so much.

It has it's ups and downs, I just prefer picking characters I enjoy and moulding them to suit my needs. 9 was at an advantage there though, as most all of the characters were enjoyable, and worth using.

Ah fair play, yeah. When I was younger I couldn't understand why all these seemingly shite cards were overpowering my good ones. Was only a few years ago that I realised what the values actually meant.

Hahahahaha, same thing happened me too! :D

Would have to learn them again, even now. I know it's something to do with elementals and all that, but it was confusing the hell out of me seeing some cards with stats like AA9E (or something...) getting shat on by goblins.
