Sadly it never arrived :(

White Knight Chronicles has been ticking me over, but it had better arrive this morning or else... well i'll probably have a little cry.

Exactly what i thought, it says if you get into a battle and it's going badly just press select and the battle restarts. Then you can use different tactics and hope it goes better.

No idea, and damn you all who are playing it!!

I read somewhere that once you get to the point where you have total control, that paradigm shift system gives you up to 89 different combinations, and that unless you master it, you'll get battered. Maybe they let you reset without consequences during the earlier stages as you try to get used to it?

I pressed select during a battle and nothing happened. There is the option to quit the game with select if you pause it. I know if you die you start from a nearby checkpoint, or at least that's what I read in a review.

Are you getting it Weaste?

Yes, I'm not going to play it until after GOW III though. I'm trying to finish U2 before that, and then I'll move on to this. I'll buy it tomorrow though and it can sit there for a while in its cellophane wrapper with Demons Souls.

89 different combinations? Blimey i can see why that'd get a bit confusing, yeah that would make sense then.

And i shall be playing in 1080p when i get home, and seeing as i was blown away by this scene in White Knight Chronicles:

From 6.58 minutes in.

Then i think my eyes will explode at this game.

I just died

As I said though, you do not restart from where you saved last, you restart from a checkpoint. So I'm just replaying the battle I died in.

I've just got it (and the guide), but I have an interview tomorrow and really should be preparing for that....

Play it Ixion!

With regards to FFXIV, you can indeed apply to be in the beta if you register your game with the code you are given. I've just received an e-mail with my code so I'm going to apply now.

It's good, but so far it is extremely linear. It's basically run forward a few steps, fight, run forward a few steps, fight, run forwards a few steps fight. Visually it's stunning, the characters seem well done, and some of the enemies are brilliantly designed. I just hope the linear aspect of it improves. But I'm impressed so far, I always feel FF games get much better as you progress anyway. Mind you, that's the same with any RPG game really.

Right i'm about 10 hours in and so far, well it's very different from any other Final Fantasy that's for sure.

The first three hours or so you don't fight a battle that last over 20 seconds, i was regularly killing enemies in about 4 seconds or so. The auto-battle button doing all the work. After about 4 hours you get to use the paradigms and then tactics come into play, figuring out quick ways to stagger your enemies is a must.

Using paradigms is very simple to get the hang of, and the Crystarium looks complicated but it's even simpler than the Sphere Grid from FFX.

The story is pretty good so far, and i like the linearity at the moment as it keeps the story ticking over at a fair pace. the graphics are of course brilliant and the voiceover work is pretty damn good as well.

So far so good.

Ye, I've only just hit chapter 3 and unlocked the ability to use Paradigms and the Crystarium, but I'm just not 'feeling' it, if you get me. VII, VIII, X and to an extent XII I was hooked by, but this I just find, well, quite boring to be honest. The linear aspect really does annoy me.

I will stick with it, however, for you.

Visually it is stunning mind.

Had an interview today which has taken up my time but now for Final Fantasy, serious business, got to catch everyone up!
