i've said this before and i'll say it again, Final Fantasy VII was the best game ever. It ruined all other final fantasy games, i could play them for 20-30 hours but never cared enough to complete them. VII for me was just perfect. (baring in mind this was actually about 10 years ago...)

If this new one is better than VII i'll buy a PS3 just for it.
VII and X are my favorites.

Just remembered how i came about FFVII, i had a friend at school who was into games and he had it and said he hated it. I had PaRappa the Rapper at the time and offered him a swap. He obliged and said he was happy for me to have FFVII forever. I bet i still have it somewhere too!

Also as for Vandal Hearts, it was a short game if i remember correctly, i played it completed it and then sold it to my best mate at full price. £40 straight back in my pocket, or was it £30. I actually think a PS1 game at the time was £40, a lot of money to a kid my age at the time!

I was introduced to Final Fantasy VII when i went round to a mates house and his older brother was playing it. He was at the underwater reactor, just about to fight the robot with the two claw arms. I just sat and watched and loved it.

Ok, I'll eat my hat, it seems that the cutscenes will be 1080p and PS3 version also gets lossless 5.1 audio. So it seems that they have not borked the Japanese version at least. It's going to be a 50GB BD.

Is it true theyv'e already brought out a trailer for FFXIV even thought FFXIII or Versus hasn't been released as yet.

Btw the FFXIII looks epic !

But Versus still seems the more anticipated :D

Ah like Final Fantasy XI then.

Makes you wonder how long the Final Fantasy series can go on for. As each game comes out there's always anticipation as to what the next in the series is going to be like.

Also with Nomura primarily behind the Versus project you know its going to be a mega success. The work he did with VII was amazing.

Unless Sony has put their hands in their pockets, I also think that Versus remaining a PS3 exclusive will depend on how XIII sells on both platforms. Japan is a given, there will be no XB360 version an will probably sell a million+. It's then down to how people associate FF with the Playstation brand, and how many XB360 gamers are even interested in this type of game. Along with GT and Halo, this game is a system seller, so what system are those PS2 owners that have not jumped in yet going to choose?

I think the series can go as far as their imaginations can.

The general feel of the game will always be the same I think, I think the party system needs to be given a look at at some point, a single playable character maybe one option in the future but as long as they keep going in the way they have been then I can't see any reason for them to stop.

I expect to see a makeover of Final Fantasy VII at some point, there is too much demand for it in my eyes I don't want to see it happen but I think that Square will see too much money in it to not do it.

The interesting thing about VII is that Sony was the publisher outside of Japan/Asia. Now, I don't know what the deal was, but it's possible that nobody else could publish a remake, thus making it impossible to go to XB360. It's a little like Mass Effect, with Microsoft being the publisher.

Completely agree with you there. I honestly don't believe they'll be a problem with the Versus market. Action RPG's have been selling really well over the past 5 years. You only have to look at the rise of Kingdom Hearts to see that Square-Enix have created yet another series of games that will appeal to a wide demographic in correlation with exclusivety to Playstation.

Whether or not Xbox360 gamers will jump ship remains to be seen, but i'm sure with the predicted success of XIII they'll be curious.

It'll be crazy how much £££ they will make, if a remake of VII happens. Everyone's been screaming for a remake for years now, and theres really been no answer on the horizon.

I've said it before and i'll say it again. I will buy a PS3, but only when the price has come down some more, still a bit too steep for me to justify it when i already have a 360! Hopefully by the time versus comes out it'll have dropped some more and i can pick one up.

Just get one!

Haha Cactuar is cool. These are the only two enemies that cause me to panic

Bastards.

fecking Malboro, and Tonberry pissed me off so much in FFVII. I was in the North Cave and about to set up the portable save and then i get in a battle with this bugger and he cleans my clock. The bastard.

The Marlboro in FF8 were hard bastards on the Island Closest To Hell.

Odin saved my ass though. I was about to die and he sliced the bugger in half.

I loved the battle with Seifer in Lunatic Pandora where Odin comes out to help you and get's slice in half himself, only for Gilgamesh to nick his sword and get him later.

I hope for Sony's sake that they have enough PS3s in the Japanese supply channel, because this is going to sell like crazy.

Standard japanese cm for a game, with some dramatic jpop tune, non-ingame graphics and flashes of dramaqueeny scenes... bah.Nihon jin wa kawaranai na~ ...

Ribbin is your friend!

Bloody dying for this game now, I'm a bit of an FF freak, spent one boring Summer off school beating every mega boss in every FF game, took 120 hours to beat Penance in X.
