Cheap, that is.

If anyone in this thread hasn't got FF7, then the best thing you'll ever do is follow that link and buy it.

Esmufc07, what's your opinion on Lost Odyssey? I've been hearing that this game is pretty much FFX due to the fact that it's created by many people from Square. I'm not too sure whether to get it or not.

I've never played it due to it being a 360 esclusive. From the trailers and videos I have seen though it didn't look overly impressive if I'm being honest.

It didn't get great reviews either, but I know you love your RPG's so I'd pick it up and give it a go.

And FFX is the second best FF for me, Lost Odyssey would have to be something pretty damn special to even come close to it!

On my FF7 play through I have just beaten the Scorpion at Mt. Nibel:D (One of my favourite places in the game, I love levelling up there).

Not long till I get Cid now:D

I'm torn on the idea of playing through FF7 again. I played through it twice when it was first relased and did everything in the game, but I'd hate to go back and play it again and find its not as good as I remember it. I still have my original copy though, and my memory card with all my saves :D I even got a free FF7 t-shirt for pre-ordering it, I bet I still have that somewhere.

I'm gone back to playing through Final Fantasy Tactics after finishing Crisis Core. It took me ages to get into but its a great game, I took a break from it to play MGS4 and Crisis Core but I'm going to finish it now. Then I've got the PSP remakes of FF1 & 2 still waiting to be opened and played!

That's how I felt but from the moment Cloud jumps off that train and you fight the two Soldiers, the game will once again have you hooked. I absolutely love the Materia System, so many combinations and possibilites. Pretty much everything about the game is amazing.

Yeah Tactics was brilliant, difficult to get into at first I thought but once you do it's amazing. Great Storyline too it aswell. Much more difficult than any other FF I have played too.

I'm picking up FF1, FF2 and Crisis Core at the end of the month:D

I'm at the Golden Saucer for the first time.

ashamed to say i never played FF7 before this :nervous:

Brilliant game. Going to try and buy the lifetime pass for the GS for 30,000. I heard i need to go back to this place, many times in the game so might as well buy the pass outright.

Yeah you need to go back a couple of times for the Battle Square (If you want certain items) and for Chocobo Racing (Amazing fun!), you also need to go back for a certain part of the story which I won't ruin for you.

The game gets better as you get further into it, the story becomes more deep than you can ever imagine it to be and there are some great twists along the way.

You're gonna love it!

FFIV DS was released here today, picked it up along with Spore after work. Not played it before so looking forward to it, got so many FF games to play-through or finish now.

I actually got the PC version of Spore. Its pretty good but there isn't really that much to do, I found myself wanting to speed through the Creature and Tribe levels as they were quite boring. Its basically just find enemy kill them or friend them, repeat x number of times, move on to the next stage. I'm up to the Civilisation level now, hopefully thats a bit better.

Final Fantasy IV is really really good. I'm loving the story so far, and the characters are interesting. I definately prefer it to III that came out on the DS quite recently, better graphics/characters/story & much better cutscenes. Its quite difficult though, theres a lot of random battles and leveling up (two things I hate), but it hasn't spoilt the game.

I may have to get a DS just for those two games.

Currently, i'm going through FF7 again and i've just got up to Rocket Town. I heeded your advice, Smurf, and went for Barret this time and i'll remove Tifa when Cid joins me.

One more thing.....how the fecking hell did you beat the Zolom straight after Midgar?!
I tried it over and over again, only for it to cast Beta each time which did nothing short of wipe the floor with me. It was a different story when I came back and used Beta against it. :D

This time I have removed Barret and am using Cloud, Cid and Vincent:cool:

It's tough, but this is how I did it. Level up until Cloud has around 650hp. Then put him on the back row and make sure he has sadness on (So he takes less damage), then attack with your other 2 characters, and use Clouds turn in battle to heal himself, take a defensive stance etc, as the Zolom will knock the character who has damaged him most out of battle. Then when he rises after a few more hits he should use Beta and you should just about survive it (I think I was left with around 50HP), then you can cast Beta directly back at him and voila, he is dead!

Aye, tried all the above but it just wasn't happening. Not sure whether the armour i had with Cloud simply had low magic defence.

However, I am up to level 47 with Cloud now due to that wonderful alarm at Junon and mastered a few Alls in the process. The next stop off for levelling will be the islands surrounding Mideal when i get the Tiny Bronco. :D

Damn I forgot about that alarm:mad:

I've not played it for a couple of weeks, but I've just beaten Demon Gate and need to go and rescue Aeris (Each time I go and save her there is a thought in the back of my mind that she might survive this time - strange)

Very touching scenes:(

I think I'm right near the end of FFIV DS now, can't be much more to go, and I think its safe to say its the most difficult FF I've ever played. The random encounter rate is so high through-out, and some of the bosses are very diffficult, and man, the enemies in the current dungeon I'm on are just insane. Really good game so far though.

I must get a DS......

In regards to the current situation with 7, i'm just about to go to the City of The Ancients.

Upon finishing the temple, it strikes me how in-depth the story is once more. As opposed to most games, Sephiroth actually has a motive for sending a meteorite towards the planet unlike Kuja, for example, who simply loses his marbles (and then regains them). It's just a stupidly good story, but it's a pity that the translation is poor!

First one i bought was FF7 and that was arguably the best game i've played. The few after that were pretty poor then i just stopped buying them

Bit of a random question but has anyone (or could anyone) try FF9 on a 60Gb PS3 (EU one)? I wanted to play through but I get all sorts of problems playing it on my PS3, I thought all PS1 games were meant to work :(

On a slightly different note I finished the PSP versions of FF1 & 2 in the last month, and 4 on the DS (which was awesome) :D. 5, 6 & 9 are the only ones left I need to finish.

After Final Fantasy XIII was announced for the Xbox 360, this left Final Fantasy Versus XIII as the only Square-Enix project that's still exclusive to the PlayStation 3. Hence, we assume many of you are seeking new details whenever they become available.

The latest comes from Famitsu and reported upon by Final Fantasy-XIII.net, and it involves the two characters you've probably seen before in early videos. The full names of the characters in question are "Noctis Lucis Caelum," which is Latin for "Light Night Sky," and "Stella Nox Fleuret," which roughly translates to something like "Star and Darkness." In a Tokyo Game Show trailer (that we've unfortunately been unable to locate), Noctis and Stella talk about a shared special ability; the ability to "see light." Noctis tries to hide it but Stella isn't afraid to let others know about their skill, even though she's unsure of how she acquired the ability. Noctis likes to "act cool" while Stella is more of a cocky, forward type, which is a "reflection of her upbringing." All of this sounds awfully intriguing, especially if you're interested in role-playing storylines and character development...and we always are. We don't know how far along Square-Enix is on this one, but we certainly want to hear more.

I'm plying through XII again just to see if i can get into it properly this time. The first time through i just couldn't really get into the characters at all. The only one who i remember much about is Balthier. I'm just past Mount Bur Omisace for the first time.

I'm also playing VIII on the side, just crashed into Fishermans Horizon. Love this game, great story.

From what i've seen of XIII the character models look like mixes between VII and VIII which is a good thing in my opinion. I just hope the story doesn't let the visuals down. X was the last good story they had and that's nearly 8 years ago now. The turn of the century had the best FF's. VII in 1997, VIII in 1999, IX in 2000, X in 2001. Then they took their foot of the gas and we had to wait 5 years for the next proper FF.

Jesus that makes me feel old, i remember playing VII round my mates house after coming home from middle school.

It used to be a toss-up for me between 9 and 7. 7's the don, though.

But FFIX is just awesome. The characters, the story, the weapons, the medieval context, the music, everything is just sublime ! I think that a medieval kind of environment suits more Final Fantasy, something in the lines of Secret of Mana for example.

Tip for those that haven't played FFX yet - persevere with blitzball; as shit as it may seem, it's essential for later in the game.

Still havent tried the FF7 copy I picked up for a fiver.

How long does it take to complete roughly?

Depends. I'd say that, on average, people must take about 40 hours.

If you're as sad as me and Elvis however, it's likely to be a lot more. Get cracking! :D

Amazing game, no doubt.

I was absolutely in love with it as soon as i started playing it. Infact, I may have to start over soon.
