Bloody hell, must have taken you hours! I remember at the battle arena certain enemies gave you strength and defense spheres so I managed to get my 3 main characters upto 255 on each of those by defeating loads of the enemies. I defeated all of the Aeons aside from Anima, Yojimbo and the Magus Sisters before I stopped playing the game (I must have racked up about 130 hours of gameplay).

I also managed to get every enemy at the Battle Arena except one. In the cave were you got Yojimbo you had to get 10 Tonberries. I must have spent at least 12-15 hours in that cave and throughout all that time I only ever fought ONE. I changed my equipment, my party, I tried everything but the little bastard just would not appear, so that pissed me off no end. I like to think of myself as a perfectionist!

The Omega Ruins was my favourite place for levelling up though. The enemies were varied and fun to fight against. I also loved the fight against Ultima Weapon. (In fact I've never not enjoyed a fight against a Weapon(Omega in VIII is probably my favourite behind the 2 in VII)).

Which three characters did you use in X? Tidus, Wakka and Auron were my three. Attack Reels was an amazing limit break. (Blitzball was a ballache though, was fun for an hour or so but then became a bit tedious I thought).

Tonberrys. feck. I never fought Nemesis purely because i couldn't get enough of these bastards. They literally appeared in that sunken cave about once every 500 battles.

I used Tidus, Wakka and Yuna. Tidus and Wakka's overdrives are brilliant, not to mention how useful it is to have Aeons to throw in when an enemy is just about to unleash something. Anima's overdrive is quite special, and the Magus sister's overdrive is also good which is why i tend to think Yuna is the best of the lot. I really like what they did with Aeons in FFX by making them controllable.

On the topic of Omega Weapon in FF8, what a bastard that was!
I think when i first fought it, it opened the fight with level 5 death and killed 2 of my characters and then used light pillar on the other! That was a really great boss and it really shit me up when i first saw the thing in the castle!

Well it comforts me knowing somebody else went through the same anger and frustration as I did!

I just preferred to defeat my enemies with brute force:D I disagree with the Aeons, I preferred them in past FF's were it was one powerful attack. I loved the intro's to them! (Bahamut Zero is my favourite)

Yeah when I first thought it it just destroyed me within 30 seconds! Took me a lot of levelling up and a lot of different tactics to finally beat it. Still, like all Weapons, was well worth the wait.

There was a version of VI on the PS1 which had new FMV's, kept the same dialogue but with slightly longer loading times, probably the best version to get.

P.S. fecking tonberry's!!! They are the most annoying enemies purely because you can never find the buggers!

Just reading some past posts got me thinking, and thats not a good idea, have they tried making the games into books does anyone know?

Because apart from X-2, and maybe XII, they all have a fantastic story, which to me has always been the biggest judge of a good RPG.

I was thinking that to be honest. It sounds ludicrous to think that a video game storyline could be made into a book, but 7's is so good to the extent that it's actually ridiculous.

The same could be said for 8, 9 and 10, too but 7 really is something else.

If XIII agito is anything like Crisis Core then feck that, id rather stick my knob into a poisonous exhaust pipe.

A few more details on XIII from Famitsu (Nicked from NeoGAF).

- The FFXIII demo disc included with FFVIIACC will be a PS3 disc, it's not on a standard blu-ray movie disc. This is good news for people with Euro PS3s, since it'll probably mean the demo will work even if the movie is region locked.

- There're 3 realtime screens of Agito XIII from the trailer, including a screen of Odin.

- 3 pages worth of FFXIII screens and stuff, about 20 screens. There are realtime screens too apparently.

- The FFXIII demo will be from the opening part of the game, and will be longer than FFVIIAC (longer than 90mins?).

- 4 pages on Versus, about 10 screens all realtime.

- The world in Versus XIII worships a Shinigami and the Shinigami is designed by Amano

- The cars and clothing seen in the trailers so far will probably change in design for the final game

- The morale of the team is really high!

OMG AGITO XIII:

- They moved it to the PSP because they couldn't wait for cellphones to get more advanced lolz

- The battle will be heavy on action but still sort of turn based. It will use an advanced version of Crisis Core's high speed ATB system.

- Crisis Core was 1 player, but this time there will be multiple characters in the party.

- Right now it supports Infrastructure multiplayer for up to 3 players.

- Summons are part of the character growth system, and can also be controlled by players after summoning.

- The game will support both Ad-hoc and Infrastructure.

Edit (updates/clarifications):

- FFXIII will definitely have a party battle system, where you control each character as they switch turns, like in a normal FF. It will not be like FFXII.

- FFXIII's story is being written such that every single of the main characters will feel like protagonists, instead of just supporting characters.

- At the top of the building where the prince and the heroine of Versus meet, there is a painting. That painting is the Shinigami that is worshipped in the world, and the painting of it in the game itself, is drawn by Amano.

- The name of the prince and the heroine in Versus will be revealed at TGS.

Finished Crisis Core yesterday, gameplay wise its a 7/10, but the story is 9/10. If the story wasn't part of the FF7 series I probably wouldn't have bothered finishing it, the battle system is very basic and you get through the whole game just hammering X while occasionally healing, and the random battle rate is ridiculous sometimes. But the Zack character is very likeable, the re-telling of the scenes from FF7 are great and its awesome to see Cloud, Sephiroth & Aerith (Aeris!) again.

Best bit was right at the end after the credits roll, you see the opening intro to FF7 and then it says "To be continued in Final Fantasy 7", which was a nice touch. Makes me want to play through 7 again, going to rewatch Advent Children later.

FFV's music on the other hand is outstanding. I'd really recommend this to anyone with even a vague interest in FF.

Well now, this changes our view of things...quite drastically.

At Square-Enix's special private party event last month - the oddly-named DKS3713 showcase - most Final Fantasy fans were desperately hoping for the official announcement that a sequel to or remake of Final Fantasy VII was in the works. Sadly, that announcement never came, and the biggest news of the event centered on the PS3 exclusive Final Fantasy XIII demo that would come with the Blu-Ray release of "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children" in March of next year. So some of you were all disappointed and said, "oh, yippee," with a very sarcastic tone of voice. Yes, we know what you wanted, and that wasn't it. But are you aware how long this FFXIII playable demo is supposed to be...?

Clearly not, because if you were, you'd stop being sarcastic and suddenly become very excited. Yeah, some demos in the past (like the Heavenly Sword demo that clocked in at under 10 minutes) have been exceedingly short, but this demo most certainly won't be. As a frame of reference "Advent Children" is 101 minutes long, but the demo, which will come on a separate disc, is reported to be longer than the movie! The latest Famitsu has supposedly confirmed this, and furthermore, we learn that the demo will "be based on the opening section of the game," unlike the FFXII demo that came with Dragon Quest VIII. If that's not incentive to pick up the "Advent Children" Blu-Ray Collection, than absolutely nothing is. You just ain't a FF fan.

Now, all of a sudden, we want to hear a great deal more about that demo, and we're salivating at the thought of playing two hours worth of FFXIII in March!

:drool::drool:

I never got a demo of FF12 with Dragon Quest.

Had i got one, i probably would not have ended up getting it.

There any chance of an FF7 remake for the PS3 classics store, or am I going to have to do some illegal stuff with the PSP again?

To give you an idea of how good the FFV soundtrack is, this is one of the best it has to offer:

US, August 18, 2008 - Motomu Toriyama is interviewed in the latest issue of Famitsu's periodic PS3 offshoot, Famitsu PS3. The focus of this issue is on Square Enix's recent DKS3713 event, and the FFXIII director ended up discussing a number of areas regarding the lead project in the Fabula Nova Crystallis franchise, including the upcoming demo that, as announced at the event, will be bundled next March with the Japanese release of Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete.

Describing the demo, Toriyama said, "Like the FFVII demo that was included with PlayStation's Tobal Nol.1, you'll be able to play from the opening through the prologue. We're making it so that players will understand about the world of the Cocoon and how the Lucys are handled."

Toriyama hinted that the demo could be of substantial length. While not giving a specific play time, he said, "We'd like to make it something with lots of volume." To this, he added with a laugh, "I think it will be longer than FFVIIAC."

As to what all that content will consist of, Toriyama wouldn't get too specific. He did confirm, however, that the realtime sequence that was shown in the DKS3713 trailer won't be included. That section of the game actually follows the demo, Toriyama explained, mirroring comments that were made by the development staff in a documentary film that aired at the event.

During the demo, players will be able to take control of more than just Lightening. The mysterious blonde-haired male character from the trailers will be playable as well.

Toriyama clarified a bit about how FFXIII handles its characters. There's no actual "main character" in the game. Players will experience the story from the perspective of multiple characters, something that he refers to as being a "new style." The demo will offer a glimpse at this new type of storytelling system. He considers players sampling the new system to be a major point for the demo.

The game's battle system appears to reflect this switching off of characters. The game's battle system is party-based, Toriyama explained. Players switch between characters as they fight.

Toriyama also shared a few general details on FFXIII aside from the demo.

The blonde-haired male character who will be playable alongside Lighting in the demo is still without a name, but Toriyama confirmed that the character will also have a name in the motif of weather.

Asked about the tattoo that the character appears to have on his arm, Toriyama noted that it's not actually a tattoo. Other people will have something similar in different areas of their body. While the details are a secret, he suggested people consider the symbol to be something related to the Lucy.

The realtime sequence that closed off the DKS3713 trailer showed the current cast of characters battling enemies in a subterranean field -- possibly a cave. Toriyama confirmed that this area of the world is at the very lowest levels of Cocoon, and a closed off space. Also, while this section of the world appears to be covered in ice, it's not actually ice, but crystals.

Oh and KingEric, that FFV tune is ace!!

Chocobo racing was awesomeness!

Agree with Blitzball, great for an hour or 2 but then became a chore.

Awesomeness, a word now forever associated with Kung Fu Panda, thanks to my son.....

That said, I'll give it another go at some point and persevere with the bloody stuff, just to get the game to the next level with the later bosses.

Chocobo racing is brilliant, but i'm beginning to grow very slightly tired of it due to the amount of times i've done it! :D

It's a necessity though, and incredibly rewarding.

Blitzball really grew on me throughout the first two playthroughs strangely enough. The pilot of the ship, Brother, was actually by far the best player in the game! However, now it's become incredibly tiresome.

I really got into the Blitzball, spent quite some time scouting for some real talent.

I ended up with half the Al Bhed team. I always found it amusing how the Al Bhed were considered to be the weakest of the rest, but were by far the best in the game out of the starting lot!

I always got Wedge though just to make sure no-one else got him and he was so damn good at the start of the game it was almost stupid not to. :D

And esmufc07, that's just one of many from FF5! I'm really enjoying this game. I wasn't sure whether i would be able to enjoy any of the FFs before 7, but 5 and 6 must be played.

Nimrook was an awesome Goalie in BB, aside from him Tidus and Brother I can't remember who else I signed.

Is this your first time playing through FF5? You playing it on an emulator?

Both FF6 and FF5 were played on a GBA emulator due to slightly improved quality, fewer glitches and extra shit.

I never managed to get hold of Nimrook, they'd always keep hold of him. My keeper, Jumal, always stayed shit because he had a hell of a defence infront of him.
