The hospital is quite close to the track apparently, they probably compromise at such circuits.
Sky said the closest 'major' hospital was 40 minutes away by road.

Then the race shouldn't have taken place sadly :/ By the looks of it, the helicopter did not even arrive at the circuit today.
That sounds horrible.. Hope he is ok.Race Steward Mika Salo: "The jury has seen the video footage. Bianchi's car went straight under the tractor during double yellows. A hard hit to the head."
Watched the first 26-odd Laos but fell asleep then so I dunno what happened after. Without spoilers, is it worth watching the rest?

Gonna spoil it for you. There is a very large chance Bianchi is in very very serious life threatening trouble. It will end on a downer.
Ok cheers lads. Anywhere online yous know of that I can watch it? BBC highlights on at 13:15 but wont be able to watch that til way later on tonight. It's worth watching.
OMG that sounds really bad.Race Steward Mika Salo: "The jury has seen the video footage. Bianchi's car went straight under the tractor during double yellows. A hard hit to the head."
yes, I thought it was a decent race.Watched the first 26-odd Laos but fell asleep then so I dunno what happened after. Without spoilers, is it worth watching the rest?
makes perfect sense. So from what I'm reading elsewhere, the likelihood is that he was taken in the ambulance rather than the helicopter as the change in air pressure wouldn't be good for a head injury.
hope he pulls throughThe FIA says Bianchi has suffered 'severe' head injury. Due to be moved to intensive care after surgery.
They don't look good, but hard to really glean anything from them when removed of context. He got to a hospital quickly and was operated on which is the main thing. One of those horrible situations of whether someone will be able to race again is the least of the worries. Not sounding good. Apparently some very disturbing images that I'll be avoiding. The roll bar was ripped off.
If posting anything please remember to spoiler anything graphic.
I expect some questions will be asked about these tractors now. All of the barriers are super safe but i doubt the tractors will have any kind of impact absorbing quality. An F1 car hitting that would have no chance.
Yeah. She was testing one of the cars and smashed into the back end of a truck. She passed away not too long ago actually. Very sad.Didn't that female driver crash into the back of a truck at like 30 mph and lose an eye or something?
Bloody amazing news.Breathing unaided apparently. Good news
fantastic newsBreathing unaided apparently. Good news
Yeah, not in a race though.Didn't that female driver crash into the back of a truck at like 30 mph and lose an eye or something?
you dont see any of the crash, on Sky they had no idea what was going on, you can barley see the car involved.Hopefully he pulls through ok. Latest rumours are that he is breathing unaided so that should be a positive sign. Not sure if I'll watch a replay of the race when it's eventually shown or not. By all accounts that I've heard it was pretty good besides that and the weather stoppages.
Yeah so I heard. Provided he is ok, I probably will so. When it actually gets replayed that is. I obviously understand why they aren't showing it as of yet.you dont see any of the crash, on Sky they had no idea what was going on, you can barley see the car involved.
It was an excellent race, over shadowed by events.
obviously the weather played a part but the track was just normal wet conditions at the time, the tractors have been an accident waiting to happen, brundle missed one by inches in 94 which probably would have killed himJust watched on delay. What a horrible end to the race. Hope he's OK. Needs to be a lot of scrutiny of decisions today and for previous races when conditions were very dangerous . Honda's decision was nuts. Starting later means crowds have to head home in terrible conditions.
