how can driving from the pit lane to 3rd be nothing special.
To be honest, doing something like this in a dominant car really isn't special. Impressive but not special. I remember Räikkönen doing this every other week back in 2005 or so when he always qualified badly but got one of the top spots at the end of the weekend. Vettel did it a couple of times over the last few years, Alonso has done it a few times before, Schuhmacker back when he was still going strong and had his odd day in qualifying for a change ... If your car is good enough it normally doesn't matter how you qualify - if you have a good race without any major problems you will still end up in the top group at the end of the race. Sure, your chances of winning the race have diminished a whole lot, but you can still get in a good result.
Saying who the best driver might be, is always a tricky choice but I don't think it has ever been this clear. What Alonso has done with the crappy Renault and Ferrari cars he has been given in recent years is just freaking impressive. I don't like the guy but he should have won a few more titles in my oppinion. Shame Red Bull was that dominant during his prime, he should have won in 2012. Behind him it's a close competition. Lots of great drivers. Hamilton, Vettel and Räikkönen are all fantastic. You can't say who is the best one among them. Hopefully we'll see a few more faces on the podium the rest of the season.
