The F1 Thread 2014 Season

The noisy engines are going to be missed, it's more of a drone now. When you get in a super fast car or watch Top Gear testing them one of the things you think about is the engine sound, the bigger the better1 Though I accept the sport needs to move on with more advanced technology.

One thing I still don't like as much is the driver fuel management, I prefer the let Hamilton go at it 100% style. The tyres didn't seem as bad in this race but then I was half asleep. I'm more worried that Mercedes will run away with this but it should be an interesting year!

Would be a big shame if they did leave the sport in the future. That would be four cars gone from the grid

This was a tactic Ferrari used years ago. The difference to RBR is being is that they're an actual manufacturer of cars & not a drinks company carries weight with the FIA. Whilst the performance level would drop in F1, it wouldn't be as significant as losing a proper manufacturer of cars team in the sport.

Mateschitz needs F1 more than F1 needs him sadly.

Formula 1 at the moment is all about the privateers, even a few of the garagistes are privately owned or rely on equity coming from private investors. Red Bull are going nowhere (unfortunately), just trying to throw their weight around a little bit.

Eurgh.

I'd forgotten about there being a race this weekend.

What god forsaken hour am I going to have to get up at to watch it live?

edit: 8am quali, 9am race, not bad at all!

Turned on, saw niagra falls, heard '15 min delay', turned off.

Back to sleep, that's gonna be ages.

This isn't going to go ahead today is it

It's 4.10pm local time

Why don't they hold it earlier when there's less chance of a monsoon

Just tuned in, has it started at all yet?

Safety car going out to try clear the track again. Looks like some part of quali may go ahead soon.

Delay of 5 minutes now, drivers look like they are getting ready to go.
