The F1 Thread 2013 Season

This is becoming an embarrassing season for McLaren.

This is becoming an embarrassing season for McLaren.

Would not surprise me in the slightest if they fail to get a podium. Whitmarsh has completely fecked this one up with his decision before this season began, and has shown no signs of patching it up.

Alonso did his best to make that race exciting, but overall it was another boring boring race for F1, and supposedly at the most exciting circuit of the season too. I'm seriously considering giving up on it at this rate. Vettel's got a fourth championship in the bag already, and the racing itself has grown humiliatingly dull.

I enjoyed todays race, the tyre problems of other races have not helped.

Oh indeed, today's race was hardly the most boring of the season - my disenfranchisement with the sport has been building all year (well, if I'm honest it was building through last year too, watching The Finger walk away with it).

Indeed, for all we know the McLaren will be lightning out of the blocks in 2014 at the cost of being awful this year.

I really like Button, so it's a shame to see him doing so poorly, but with The Useless cnut (tm) in charge -- sorry, Martin Whitmarsh -- they're only going backwards.

I struggled to understand Lewis' decision to leave McLaren for what was an inferior car (I understood the decision to leave overall though), and my Dad said that this season it would be inferior but with the new engine regulations next season it'd probably have the advantage. Totally didn't expect there to be this much daylight between the two this season. It's shocking. Jenson wasn't anything special last season, Lewis was extracting more from that car than the sum of its parts, and without him this season they're well off the pace.

Great drive from Alonso, looked like Hamilton would have been happy to take him out.
Can't understand these people who continually moan and complain about F1, if you don't like it don't watch it.
I think it has been decent the last few years, can certainly remember a lot more boring seasons.
I have watched F1 since the 70s and will continue to watch it.
I mean heaven forbid we decide never to watch football again because of boring games.

an excellent race from him, he needs to go to a bigger team
Aye, thought he acted the cnut a bit yesterday and he has in the past a couple of times too but he does seem to have the ability. Question is where would he go as he seemed nailed on for Mercedes before Hamilton. Maybe Ferrari if Massa leaves.

He's grumpy at times but that's down to Force India fecks ups like yesterday where they managed to screw up his gearbox setting during Q1.

Renault if kimmi goes (or they get fed up of grojean)

Don't know where Kimi would go if he left Lotus, a lot of rummors about him joining RBR but the Toro Rosso drivers have been linked with a move as well.

I am sure Kimi had something to do with red bull before, during his stints in other sports. I'd expect they'd prefer Raikkonen over anyone else tbh.

Would Renault be a big step up from Force India next season? Can't remember which engines both teams will be using.

Depressingly, Martin Brundle was saying at the time how stupid it was that they were desperately rushing to get the car out of the way instead of just leaving it under waved yellows in that section for the last five laps and then clearing it away safely afterwards - and it looks like their needless haste has cost someone their life. A tragedy.

I remember hearing that too, he said it was more dangerous to have a large crane out than just to leave the car out like that. Although this tragedy didn't occur the way he thought it did, it's just a sad coincidence that he spoke about its danger. Such a sad accident to occur.

Awful to hear about the marshall. It was completely stupid to clear the car from that corner with only four laps left. No common sense was shown with that decision at all. I was angry when I seen it happen and now this terrible news has been a sad consequence of that ridiculous decision. A freak accident like that wouldn't have happened if they had waited just a few laps later. They were ordered out on to the track during the race to put their lives in danger for a car that was causing no threat to the other drivers and if another car did hit the stranded car the barrier would still have cushioned the impact.
RIP to the marshall

Awful news. RIP. Tragic how avoidable it was.

It's unbearable listening to the commentators and their love in with Alonso. You could genuinely put their commentary over a David Attenborough documentary and it'd fit perfectly. He's a "predator" who's "hunting his prey" etc etc. Shut the feck up. He makes an overtake with DRS and it's "no point in even trying to defend that really, the genius and sheer willpower of this otherworldly animal would always be too much. There's nothing you can do to stop yourself being torn apart, limb by limb and eaten alive by this carnivorous beast!". Or, maybe, just maybe, he passed someone using the fecking DRS you arse licking cnuts.

He's an incredible driver but ffs!

I reckon Brawn will step down after this.

If he does, this will be such a huge blow for Mercedes. He has been the whole reason they are as high up as they are, and Hamilton could probably kiss any future World Championships goodbye if so. The guy is an utter genius, and F1 would miss him. It will be interesting to see how the FIA handle this one.
