The F1 Thread 2013 Season

Excellent stuff from Webber, tells it like it is without throwing the toys out the pram.

"he'll have protection as usual" was a little toy throwy.

One thing we can all at least agree on is that this isn't Formula 1, the tyre issue is wank.

Atleast we know the truth now, seb made his own decision instead of following team orders. Next race will be feisty!!

"Treat the drivers the same". Bollocks. Vettel gets treated differently to Webber, and as Webber said, they'll defend Vettel.

feck the team orders. It's race 2 FFS.

Well done Vettel and Rosberg should've done the same.

Totally, this isn't proper Formula 1 with these tyres. I mean for feck sake we had 4 cars battling for the lead and all of them were running to target lap times instead of going flatout.

Funny how Mercedes and Red Bull want to go back to the 2012 tyres and they ended up destroying the rest of the field anyway.

I really hope that Webber starts pushing more now instead of just settling to protect Vettle. Next time vettle is struggling in front of him, he should just take him and go for the win.

It all depends on how much patience the team will have.

You have to remember that F1 is in fact a team-sport at times. What's the point of giving orders if the drivers are too petulant to listen to them?

Pixelated middle finger

So when team orders happen for one they should be followed but when the shoes on the other foot the other one can't?

Webber has every right to be properly pissed off, Vettel disobeyed an agreement of which Webber has done multiple times.

Half of the people that'll defend Vettel will be the same people who'll say "Webber should of made way for Vettel there" in another race.

Why not? They all want to win the constructors title. They'll do whats best in the name of the team.

Because it's a race, team orders should only come into play when the WDC is at stake for only one driver.

They had basically 75% of the race to race freely, its pretty standard to see two cars in the same team hold station after the last pitstop, fecking countless times Webber had to reign it in after the final stops and follow Vettel home.

It all depends on how much patience the team will have.
I know the season has a long way to go so plenty of time to patch things up, but I can see Webber moving on at the end of the season if he is sick of playing second fiddle to Vettle. No idea where he would go though as he isn't one of the top few drivers

They shouldn't be giving those orders at this point in the season.

Exactly! So why did you want Webber to move over? No team orders, if Vettel is faster than Webber, just just pass him legitimately.

Half of the people that'll defend Vettel will be the same people who'll say "Webber should of made way for Vettel there" in another race.

In another race, when the championship is on the line between two or three drivers and Webber has nothing to do in that mix. Of course they will, but this was the second race of the season, there shouldn't be any team orders.

Because it's a race, team orders should only come into play when the WDC is at stake for only one driver.

Team orders come into play from the very first practice session of the very first race. Don't be naive to think that it's all open racing and everyone has a chance, the teams think of the constructors title first & the WDC second.

Of course they should. It's a team sport that involves an aspect of risk-management. BEtween a 1-2, would you risk two DNFs?

Agreed. Okay, they may have not come to blows today, but does anyone remember Istanbul 2010?

He knows his position at RBR, it's the price to pay when your an average drive and you want the fastest car on the track.

Would've said the same thing if it was the other way round. I don't have any bias towards anyone. Unlike some people in here.

If Webber was indeed fast enough, he would've won, simple as that. I hope this fires him up and we get to see some fight between teammmates.
I'd say that'll make for a better viewing, wouldn't you?

I'm talking about artificial passes, or lack of, not getting in the way of a faster driver. Passing isn't that straight forward in F1 as we know all too well.

Plus when he did pass him legitimately he gets moaned at too.

You asked my opinion, which is that orders shouldn't decide things this early.

Harsh but true. But even Schumacher followed team orders when Ferrari told him to let Barrichello win one time, after Barichello had given Michael the win at Brazil.

Great race and drama between Webber/Vettel it's going to be interesting to see how this plays out for the rest of the season. Wouldn't expect anymore 'standing down' by Webber though he will go at Vettel now at every chance.

Webber's done his fair share of helping Vettel so if he was told by the team that vettel wasn't going to challenge then he has a right to be very pissed off. His problem is that Vettel is a much faster driver. I love the way we're giving out about a great battle at the front
