The F1 Thread 2012 Season

Has Ben realised he's out of the race yet?

Yes but only when the camera showed him walking down the pit lane, it's been a usual day for Ben though, pissing his pants with glee invariable, cutting across people, DC having to cover his mistakes and in general just being shit. Even button has not had as bad an afternoon as Ben which is saying something

feck red bull, but I like webber so happy he won.

I wonder if they will protest that Red Bull now or if they have already.

Booooooooring. Glad Webber won, six different winners for six different races is fantastic, but feck me Monte Carlo is such a goddamn awful circuit.

The top six separated by two seconds at one point, bunched up so much they were almost touching, and yet not one of them was able to make even a single over-taking attempt.

Worst race on the calendar by far.

Awful race but good to have another new winner this season. At least keeps it interesting.

Time to drop Monaco IMO. Dull as dishwater.

They won't ever drop it but surely they should consider altering the layout, its got room to do it in a few spots.

It earns far, far too much money to drop. It's a "highlight" of the year in terms of the cash it brings in. Far too prestigous. It's just a shame for those of us that care about the actual, y'know, racing.

It is shaping up to be a classic season , 6 winners in 6 races is outstanding quality of driving

It doesn't feel classic though, we haven't seen a single race where they don't have to drive to delta times. This season for the purest is not real F1, yes its good that there are so many drivers in the hunt but the actual racing feels artificial.

Well it could have been a good race if rain was up for it. But you know these tyres and q3 rules are just terrible.

Exactly.

Yeah I can see your point , but I would rather it be like this than Vettel running away with it like last season
Something needs to be done about Q3 is is fast becoming a farce

Wouldn't be surprised if Hamilton gets pissed off midway through the season at not being able to push as hard as he wants in the races and starts messing up again.

It will probably happen just around the time McLaren's pitcrew gets their shit together.

Nah, he's good. I think the McLaren isn't brilliant on traction, Hamilton's really getting that car to talk looking at Jenson's last two performances, if the McLaren can find traction I think Lewis is really going to enjoy himself in that car. I think Alonso and Hamilton and probably Vettel will fight out the title.

Lewis is losing the tyres a lot quicker than those around him. I think he will need to pick up a win when the car isn't performing it's best to give him a chance at the title.

Looks like it's going to maybe be an exciting race to the end this season the way it's going. I still see Vettel winning it with Hamilton in 2nd and Webber/Alonso in 3rd.

That's because of traction, he seemed to do fine in Barcelona on the tyres. Monaco requires far more traction, tyres weren't his issue today, the car wasn't suited to the track. Button was getting worse traction than the frigging Caterham out of Portier into the Tunnel!

Jenson's fastest lap yesterday was only 3 tenths quicker than HRT's fastest lap yesterday .

hmmm I wonder if McLaren and Mercedes are considering doing a swap deal next year. Lewis to Mercedes, Schumi to McLaren. Dennis while sometimes critical of schumacher, has always had a hard on for him, and apparently he 'Michael' was close to signing for them in 99. Seems to me that with Schumacher not really getting the performances they thought, and it's putting a bit of a negative light on Merc. They almost need to get out of his shadow and establish themselves as their own brand.

Michael signing for McLaren would just be another top line driver signing for a a great team. I also feel he'd be the catalyst to bring them back to dominating F1 again. Lewis while a quick driver, doesn't seem to have that ability to build a team around him.

Edit: i'm aware the article has nothing to do with that.

Dennis loves Lewis, no chance. Lewis has matured a lot and seems to be building the team around him now, his pace has been terrific but he's been let down by the team. Schumacher for Hamilton is such a backwards step, it's like swapping Giggs for Ronaldo.
