The F1 Thread 2012 Season

Lewis has a number of haters on here who will just pick on anything to hate on him. As Leg-End said It begins this happens every year since Lewis started in F1.

I like him, he gets criticised for being too aggressive and being easily distracted but look at Button now (used to have a reputation for a bit of a playboy etc.), Lewis will mature and win another few WDC's IMO.

From another forum:

Whitmarsh knew Petrov was about to bring out the safety car so he called Lewis in right after Jenson to blow McLaren’s 1-2 finish and to pad Jenson’s lead over Lewis by another 10 points. It’s a conspiracy! The whole world is against Hamilton including his own team! I think I saw a McLaren mechanic spray some oil in front of Lewis’s car at the start. I also heard that Whitmarsh broke off all radio communication with Hamilton during the race and all Lewis could hear through his radio was the Pussycat Dolls soundtrack. It’s a miracle that Lewis was able to finish 3rd. Lewis need to leave McLaren now and get in a Williams. Whitmarsh can’t be trusted!

After watching both sky and bbc, i think ill watch all the live races on bbc and the races that are early in the morning on bbc (highlights). Any races which are on sky and are in the afternoon ill stream and then watch highlights. Even with the dodgy main commentator you don't miss "much" with the highlights and Sky doesn't have the same "togetherness" that the bbc did.

To be fair it's Sky's first race, they are hardly going to be a well oiled machine yet.

I agree, but it's like the presenters haven't done their f1 homework. Georgie Thompson is just shit and is only their for glamour and tits. Lazenby seems a bit crap too, although Jake was a bit weird at times he could have came in and hit it off straight away, they wouldn't be so awkward.

The problem sky have is that bbc's live coverage is so good sky have no choice but to be a well oiled machine and they attended some races last year to do their homework by watching the bbc do it

No idea why they didn't take DC and Jake Humphrey on board. Both have been brilliant since the BBC began covering.

They must've had some sort of agreement as to how many presenters Sky could "poach".

Lee mckenzie knows her stuff too, it's only Eddie that was the weak link, but even then, he gave it humouros moments.

agreed, and to be fair, Hamilton just had bad luck today or would have got 2nd probably, he needs to go easier on tyres though if he want's to beat Button in the more demanding races on tyres.

He has a number of haters because he's an unbelievable wanker who truly believes he's the second coming of Senna, and even more hilarious that the English buy into it. He's nothing like Senna at all apart from the yellow helmet.

If Button continues to beat him, i'm looking forward to seeing the toys come out of the pram.

Forecast the rest of the season to be much like last. He lacks the intelligence to deal with the tyres and it will bite him in the arse all year long. A few good races here and there.

watch this come back and bite me in the arse

See, only 1 race in to the season and it's started already.

Yeah I'm sure it will.

Reckon Hamilton will have a strong season myself, the third place pretty much came from a poor start and bad luck.

Its driving style. If your driving style doesn't match up you can only adapt so much. Alonso is pretty much the king of adapting his style, he isn't the outright quickest driver in F1 but he is the very best at driving around a problem or adapting, he is a completely different driver to his 2005/06 "chucking it in" days because he had to adapt.

Hamilton I believe on his day is one of the fastest in outright speed but he lacks tyre management and he hasn't fully embraced a change in driving style to adapt to the Pirelli's and remedy that fact. I also think since he switched from Phil Prew to Andy Latham its not been a perfect match in consistently picking the correct setup, could be for whatever reason but I like to speculate that perhaps they sometimes have tried to go for outright speed over tyre life in order to keep with the Red Bull's in seasons past.

After Button's win in Round 1 perhaps that might sink into his head that in order to win you don't need a setup that's all about absolute lap time, he was after all 4/5 K's quicker on the straights than Button at Melbourne. Even still Button is going to be very hard to beat under the current regulations where its about looking after tyre life and managing lap times.

I dunno, I was surprised at the lack of pace he showed near the end of the race. Button seemed to have an answer to everything, whether he can keep that form up is another matter of course.

This is true, I think he would have beaten Seb to 2nd if not for the bad luck with the pit stops. But Jensen had Hamilton's number that day, as you he has an answer to everything.

Button was well on top for sure, although how it would have gone had Hamilton started well is anyone's guess. Button was excellent value for the win though, of course.

With regards to the pace after the safety car - Hamilton said he damaged his tires a bit trying to get past Vettel and after that pulled back and just held position. Better to bring the car home in third rather than further damage his tires trying for second and ending up behind Webber as well. Disappointing race for him though, certainly, I just don't see it casting doubts on the rest of his season. His lap time drop off (presumably due to tires) seemed pretty much the same as Button's on the first stint.

Why do you seem to get your knickers in a twist because someone else might not like Hamilton? He's a fantastic driver, but he's also a bit of a knob, in stark contrast to his team mate and plenty of other drivers in the paddock.

Vettel always comes across as a top young lad with a great attitude and yet people were calling him a cnut all season last year just because he was winning, at least with Hamilton he actually has a history of being a cock to justify the dislike.

Knickers is a twist, how exactly? I have no problem if you and others don't like Lewis, god knows how many times me, you and others have argued about him. That was part of the point look at the F1 threads since 07 this debate happens every year I was just pointing that out. It's a forum people debate, if someone hates on my favorite driver and I disagree I'll defend him. Like you, your always the first to defend Seb or Kimi when someone calls him a cnut or hates on him.

I don't 'hate on' Hamilton, I just think he's a bit of a cock and when he acts like it I say so. When people were queuing up to call Vettel a cnut it confused me because I've never seen anything from him that could possible annoy anyone so I spoke up and asked why people hated him (I use hate here because they did) and never really got an explanation apart from him winning which was just bitter. I've not seen anyone calling Kimi a cnut so I don't know what you're referring to there.

The finger. The Dominance. The Germaness.

He's no angel Vettel, you read behind the scene stuff but really in F1 terms he's one of the better drivers, its just when someone wins constantly it starts to grate when your not really a fan of him or the team, sometimes you sit back and admire and sometimes it gets to you and people post stuff.

Last season it was just like watching Barcelona dick on United but not once a season, 19 rounds of it. But even worse they had the F1 eqiuvilant of Hitler and Pol Pot in Horner & Marko in charge of it all and I just cannot stand either of them.

I can imagine anti-Schumacher fans would have had a field day on here 1994-95, 2000-2005. And its probably what non-Prost/Senna/McLaren fans felt like back in 1988-89.

 The Germaness!

I'd have loved to have seen how people on here would have reacted to Schumacher's dominance, it would have been hilarious.

I remember reading the F1 thread on here when Button moved to McLaren and people was claiming he was a idiot because Hamilton would leave him embarrassed in the same car, really pleased at the way he proved his doubters wrong and shown what a great driver he is, a good bet for world champion I think.

It was a superb career move for him, proving he's right up there in the elite as well as giving him a great chance of a race winning car each year. Even better, Hamilton is going to respond eventually and really fight back, and it's going to make for some immense races.

My money is on button to win this weekend if he continues in the form he started in last week, at the moment I think the mclarens are the fastest out there

If it is a wet weekend then I'd put my money on Button to take it but I wouldn't write off someone like Schumacher as an outside chance for race victory.

I really want to see schumacher on the podium this year, he deserves that feeling again

Whats wrong with Ferrari again?

Poor Alonso.

They need to sack that Massa btw too.
