The F1 Thread 2012 Season

Button was supreme, this might be his season if the McLaren can outdevelop Red Bull because he can manage the tyres better than Hamilton seemingly.

I really wish Pirelli/FIA would make the races more about outright speed than tyre saving though.

McLaren are usually amongst the best at the development race, I expect that to be the case.

I think crucially McLaren have a car thats on par with them from Race 1, the last few seasons its taken them half a season to catch them.

Button really is a great driver. I hope if it's out of the top 4 today, he wins the title.

Hamilton still needs to go away and fix the problems with his driving style. Raw pace will win you lots of poles, but it wont win you titles on its own.

Alonso deserves a better car than the rubbish he's driving.

Oh and brilliant to see Kimi up to 7th from 10th on that last lap :D

Yea, if they develop at their normal rate you've got to expect a number 1 on one of them next season.

Mclaren will win the title. They are normally the best in development along with Ferrari and here they are no.1 from day 1.

Button is a supreme driver.

Dead chuffed for Jenson though, for years and years people wrote him off despite the fact he never even got a consistent race winning car underneath him until 2009, now he is considered one of the best on the grid and rightly so, couldn't be a more likeable driver either.

I f-ing hate Hamilton, I hope Button outdoes him the rest of the season too. Opening race of the season, you're on the podium - smile you putz.

'Oh no...I'm a perfectionist'

Not surprised by Jenson's win, the drivers had little time to develop the setup and Jenson always looks after his tyres, Lewis understandably annoyed, he had the quickest car what reaction do you expect?

Well done to Kobayashi, people kind of wrote him off last year as he didn't show under his early promise and was considered overrated, 6th is a great start though, hopefully he can win "best of the rest".

P.s if anyone finds a way i can watch/download a repeat of the full race i'd appreciate it!

Wasn't able to watch it live and will be working during the beebs highlights. Can anyone give me a quick rundown about how the Mercedes looked? I saw Schumacher was 3rd until his car failed

Im multi tasking now, F1 on the TV and football on the computer. Looking forward to seeing what these BBC highlights are like considering that its 2 hours of highlights!

Was keeping a respectable pace. Managing the tyres but didn't feel pressured at all by Vettel. Tyre deg is pretty big apparently, but he'd have probably finished 4th or 5th. Rosberg was just absolute shit today.

oops, wrong table, here is the table

I watched it on Sky and I was not impressed , but they will get better , some of the in race interviews were just dreadful.

I wasn't impressed either. Seems Sky are more interested in blowing everyone away with all the gadgets and bells and whistles rather than sticking with have an intelligent conversation about the race.

They've done the same with their football coverage.

He was certainly holding up Vettel, the McLaren's were getting away at nearly a second a lap whilst Vettel was behind Schumacher.

Hamilton was obviously peeved because he should've been second easily, just wasn't his day at all. Superb from Button, strong drive from Vettel as well.

Lewis has a number of haters on here who will just pick on anything to hate on him. As Leg-End said It begins this happens every year since Lewis started in F1.
