The F1 Thread 2011 Season

I'm looking for a good place to either watch or download old races and season reviews.

Any ideas

If you use torrents you'll find most races on there. I downloaded and watched the '05 Suzuka GP a few weeks back, what a fantastic race that was.

Indeed. I was watching the Hungarian GP of 2006 recently.

I had forgotten how much of a bellend James Allen was. Thank feck he's gone.

#f1 Martin Whitmarsh has just said that radical changes to McLaren should make it 1 sec faster than during testing!

Did anyone see that Top gear special on Senna they said a film would be coming out is that out yet or is there a release date.

Don't know about release date, but there was mention of a 3rd May screening on James Allen's blog

Scratch that, according to an earlier blog, 3rd June

What a dick, that mere drinks company are the reigning double world champions you moron. God I hope this new wonder update is a complete failure and he spends his time being lapped.

Not along wrong with what he said Nick, I mean yeah they are the team to beat but they don't have the history of a Ferrari, McLaren or a Williams.

It's pretty disrespectful to say the least, especially when the people he's brushing off are the reigning champions. Not to mention they race in multiple types of motorsport and do well at them too. If Vettel had come out with comments like that about another team there would be plenty on here slagging him off for it. Hamilton's always had a way of annoying me.

Red Bull are not a manufacturer, they are a drinks company. It's a drinks company versus McLaren/Ferrari history. I don't know what their plan is. Our team is building to become a bigger manufacturer, like Ferrari, and I can only see our team being there for a ridiculous amount of time. It is a pure-bred racing team."

You are right its not really for him to say but its obvious what this is, its mindgames because his car can't compete with the Red Bull right now. I think its fair to say Hamilton won't be moving to Red Bull anytime soon.

Ah good ol' Lewis. Still polarizing opinions I see.

If you look past the sensationalist headline what he says is pretty reasonable.

"Red Bull are not a manufacturer, they are a drinks company. It's a drinks company versus McLaren/Ferrari history."

That's a quote, the headline really isn't 'sensationalist'.

Well I interpret that as saying McLaren and Ferrari have a prouder history than Red Bull. I don't see anything wrong with that at all.

I don't follow F1 at all, but I did just see Bernie Ecclestone saying that he would like to introduce artificial rain to make the races more interesting. :wenger:

Of course it is - the headline is "'Red Bull are just a drinks company,' says revved-up Lewis Hamilton'. They've put a whole new word in there which changes the entire tone of the piece. The Hamilton quote printed in the article does not contain the word "just". It's a small detail but one which is pretty important. There is not much controversial stuff in the quotes from the article tbh, the headline takes everything out of context.

He's being asked about Red Bull dominating the sport, what with being the champions and being talked up as having a fast car again this year, and he essentially brushes them off as not worthy of such talk. He's basically saying 'pft, these new boys have nothing on us'.

It's arrogant, uncalled for and to top it off, bollocks.

Yea he's batshit crazy, but I'm pretty sure FOTA would never allow such nonsense.

It's a great idea. I would also like to propose the introduction of strategically placed landmines, bazooka wielding stewards, and machineguns on the cars.

Bernie?

Apparently the rain is heavy over there at the moment and is forecast to be bad on Friday as well which is when McLaren are planning the first test of their updated car.

Also, Sakon Yamamoto has been confirmed as the Virgin reserve driver.
