The F1 Thread 2010 Season

I don't agree with that R_Nick but I think everyone everywhere will see that differently, at the end of the day it was ruled a racing incident.

Webber has to be the luckiest racing driver alive! And I don't mean the incident with Hamilton - for the second race in a row, that was Hamilton's fault - but just because people keep throwing themselves out of his way or making mistakes up front! He keeps qualifying badly, or having poor starts, but rather than being punished for that the cars and drivers ahead of him just continually feck up and allow him back through! Kobayashi and Schumacher earlier are a case in point, and two races ago when Kubica just threw away second place to him with two laps to go. It's ridiculous!

The McLarens clearly are not going to win this championship now. Button is out of it simply because he's not winning races, and Hamilton has probably ruined his chance by constantly crashing into his opponents and taking himself out. My only hope is that Alonso wins the title, because - whilst I'm not his biggest fan - he's a great racing driver and I fecking LOATHE the Red Bulls. I'd love to see Christian Horner's face if one of his cars doesn't win the championship - take that you smug cnut.

McLaren won't get near the front now, without the safety car they would have been the best part of a minute down. I know one thing, if Hamilton is anywhere near Webber in the remaining races it might be interesting

I think its Alonso's to lose Mclaren keep bring new updates that dont actually work and Red Bull as good as they have been they always find away not to win a race.

I actually believe that Lewis is going to have brilliant last few races. It's getting to a point now where he may have nothing to lose. I bet if this were the last race of the season, he would have pulled the same move off on Webber without the incident. He drove half way around Webber and then gave him space to turn in, nor was he agressive on the outside like Kubica. Perhaps the last DNF had an effect ?

I honestly don't know what you were looking at during that saying Hamilton should not have given Webber space, he squeezed him to the wall and at no point was far enough ahead to pull in front of him.

Sutil did the same as Webber - held his line. Kubica drove all the way round the outside, Hamilton drove half way round the outside then tried to drive straight through Webbers line.

But Hamilton's British?

For my money, Webber is a bit of a lucky boy there, I can see why they've put it down to a racing incident but I think Hamilton is far enough past that Webber should be yielding. Certainly don't think there was anything wrong with Hamilton's course of action

Hamilton will need back to backs now to get himself back in it

I'd rather Webber wins it than Alonso, vile little shit stain that he is

What's Alonso done?

Just watching the 07 season review DVD because I'm bored as hell, Kubica's crash in Canada really was horrific, it's remarkable he only had bruising and a sprained ankle ankle after that, I remember hearing the impact was something like 75G!

I remember fearing the worst when it happened, it's fantastic how the safety has come on over the years.

Wow!

Also, turns out his driving to the start/finish rather than the pits was actually very quick thinking rather than daft; since there's no refueling any more the pit crew don't wear fireproof overalls, so he decided it was too dangerous to drive into the pits.

I can't see the picture, but I assume you're talking about Kovi? That's why he wasn't punished - the stewards agreed with him that driving down the pitlane in a burning car would be more dangerous than parking it on the start/finish line.

Should be an interesting read.....

Faber signs biography of Bernie Ecclestone
07.10.10 | Charlotte Williams

Faber has signed up the biography of Formula One supremo and billionaire Bernie Ecclestone. Julian Loose, Faber’s non-fiction publishing director, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights (including Canada) to Tom Bower’s No Angel: The Secret Life of Bernie Ecclestone from Jonathan Lloyd at Curtis Brown.

Ecclestone reveals in the book his journey from selling secondhand cars in London’s Warren Street to becoming the F1 boss. The book will also detail his personal highs and lows, his marriages, his deals in Downing Street and his successes and failures on the race track.

Ecclestone is telling his story to Bower, a former “Panorama” reporter and author of unauthorised biographies of Gordon Brown and Richard Branson. Despite Ecclestone describing Bower as “The Undertaker” for his notoriety in burying reputations, the billionaire gave Bower access to all his contacts and instructed them to "Tell him the truth, good or bad".

Bower told Ecclestone: "I’ll accept your facilities but if I find evidence of wrongdoing or hear any criticism, it will be published." Ecclestone replied: "Tom, I’m no angel."

Faber plans to publish No Angel in March 2011 to coincide with the start of the F1 season.

That is a must buy for any F1 fan.

Suzuka then. McLaren look like they have an f-duct upgrade.

I'd be surprised if the McLaren's qualifying hopes aren't boosted by certain rain for qualifying. Could be a real spanner in the works if it qualifies ahead of a RB or Alonso.

So that's three crashes in three weekends for Hamilton, where's all the talk of him choking or bottling it?!

i don,t think its a case of that ,maybe just trying to hard and making silly mistakes.
We know he is a good driver.

this is from the BBC F1 website

Heavy rain is forecast for Saturday and there are fears qualifying might have to be postponed until race day on Sunday, when dry weather is expected.

Expect a backlash from the Bwitish brigade of Brad and co., Nick.

Even wr8_utd hasn't come out and used his favourite verb in this thread recently, which is surprising given the obscene frequency he was using it on everyone but his beloved Nadal, in the Tennis thread.

To be fair, the one in first practice wasn't a huge error. It's just that corner has an unforgiving gravel trap. Button & Schumacher both went off in the same spots.

He even bottled it when he won the championship, if not for glock's struggling with tyre's he wouldn't have won it.

No biggie crashing in FP1 or FP2 really, had he done it in FP3 and missed quali then thats a major issue like Webber last season. I don't think it matters too much anyway because if the rain comes it square one, and I hope it does come otherwise its Red Bull domination with their flexi wings back.

Agreed, and although they'll have enough to prevent them overtaking them, the pitstops will be a real problem, as they'll definitely get taken there imo
