The F1 Thread 2009 Season

Aaaah it wouldn't be Sunday afternoon if there wasn't some first rate Formula 1 farce going on. You wonder at how much energy has been exhausted behind the scenes playing politics...

Congratulations Button, two wins out of two, can't do better than that!

Why are you booing? It's not worth endangering the safety of the drivers...

Because i wanted to see a whole race, it would be ok for them to race now, just stupid bernie and his stupid race time has fecked this GP up

because they went to the last lap that button completed a whole lap, anything to make Hamilton lose points eh

Glock is 3rd now

I might got this wrong but im sure Lewis was 5th when the safety car came out then he was 6th for some reason now 7th.

give it a few days and he will probably be demoted more for sitting in his car for too long during the wash out, and Kimi will get promoted as he did the right thing in eating an ice cream in his shorts

FIA couldn't do anything else I think, given the rules and all.

The farce was letting the race start that late in the first place.

There's no conspiracy against Hamilton - what Hamilton got for Melbourne was only right - staying quiet about something you know is equivalent to lying. He was trying to cheat his way to third. If he had been a little honest, he'd have been third...

And before judging anything concerning today, it'd be necessary to know the fachts...

Maybe I'm losing it, has been a crazy day after all, but didn't Button complete lap 32? Why have we gone back to lap 31, which was when the safety car came out?

It would seem that under these circumstances, the regulation is that the ranking at the end of the previous lap is the one that counts...

Actually it's not. It's known as "being economical with the truth" and is often done in all other walks of life (including the legal process) with impunity.

Is that confirmed then, he didn't lie, he just didn't reveal all the facts known to him at the time?

Is there actually a rule that says if you that says the punishment for such an action is to lose all your race points? Or did they just make it up as they went along?

Remember when Massa dangerously drove into an opponent in the pit lane? And got a paltry fine? Hamilton doesn't reveal the full truth after the race, and he loses all his points and the threat of season long expulsion hangs over him...

F1 eh

It's not about not saying the truth - it's about duping... Anyway, the debate's always going to be out there... Who cares? We can't control that...

Agree with this. Seems like an odd day to state that F1 is shit..

I'll wait to say anything about Hamilton until I know what exactly happened with his two place drop. I still don't get it...

I think it's in the rules to take the standings from the lap before the red flag or something.

Why is F1 shit now? The race was very exciting imo before the really heavy rain started.

because ive just watched a "race" where they spent most of it sitting in the rain counting down the clock...

all because its no longer about racing but about tv schedules and frankly it just struck me as being entirely vapid...

i remember the days of senna and prost and looking forward to the races... today it just lost its soul in my eyes

It was a bad decision to start the race that late, I agree with that, but today they couldn't have done anything else.

Shame the race was suspended

Fantastic race before that

I've been watching F1 for a bit now, but only now really starting to like the sport.
