The F1 Thread 2008 Season

At least Lewis came out and admitted he made a mistake I see no one else is doing that.

I know I have said Lewis is the best out there but thinking about it and watching the last 2 races I have to say Alonso is the best driver in F1. Im really surprised Ferrari signed Massi, Kimi for next year and not tried to sign Alonso

"don't even bother using the 'he's young' There are several drivers younger then him that don't make the stupid mistakes Hamilton does. He is an idiot pure and simple. 'cough cough choke choke' at his pathetic attempt to regain the lead at the start."

- from marchi-91 in the newbie forum who desperately wants to post here.

Alonso is indeed the best driver in F1. Its a pity that Mclaren treated a two time world champion unfairly. They would have won last years championship if they had backed Alonso instead of Lewis.

Or Alonso could have acted like a 2 time world champion and not like a child

alonso and hamilton don't see eye to eye with each other. How to work as a team, someone has to go unfortunately.

Yep I agree with that stand totally, they backed Hamilton because they're an English team and they blew it spectacularly at Shanghai especially. If they've settled Hungary peacefully and given a champion due respect they would have won it. Bit like 1986 with Piquet and Mansell actually.

Just got reminded of the incident when Hamilton unlapped himself to prove a point to Alonso and Alonso just let him go, speaks volumes I think.

Look at the Mclaren strategy last season -

1. After the first 5 races, Lewis was always given the best strategy during qualifying. He was always refueled and sent out first on track for the 3rd phase of qualifying
2. He was fueled lighter and stopped one or two laps ahead of Alonso during the race. It gave him the edge to qualify better.

I doubt any world champion would have not minded being treated inferior to a rookie. It served Mclaren right when Lewis fecked up spectacularly. Lewis deserves to win this season but there are many new regulations coming into play from the next season and Mclaren will lose out on the overall ability that Alonso has in developing the team. Drivers like Kimi, Massa and Lewis can drive quickly in a fast car but very few like Schumi and Alonso have the ability to drastically improve average cars into title challenging teams. Look at the progress Renault have made since the start of the season. No other driver currently in F1 could have helped them achieve that bar Alonso.

Hamilton said in an interview that they comfortably had the fastest car on track all through last year but Ferrari have closed the gap on them considerably as this season has progressed. The rivals are catching up...next season should be interesting if BMW and Renault are in the mix

I used to hate the cnut Alonso.

But I now hope he joins Ferrari next season.

Either in place of Massa or Raikonnen

Hamilton unlapped himself in case drivers were penalised or dropped out, not to prove a point, proving a point would have been driving his car up Alonso's arse.

It won't happen because Raikkonen has just signed, but one day i would love to see Alonso and Vettel in a Ferrari.

Btw, Vettel - Next Schumachaer

I hope not..

I hope he has a great career, but I hope F1 never sees another Schumachaer.

Arrogant cheating cnut he was.

Looking forward - who will bottle it more and lose the championship ??

1. Massa is a bigger bottler and will hand the championship to Lewis
2. History repeats itself and Lewis will hand it to Massa
3. Both are bottlers - Kubica has a great chance

Get your predictions in.

Seriously get a grip! :annoyed:

Schumachaer is the best F1 racer in History, his records speak for itself. It's like saying i hope i never see another Maradona/Best on the playing field.

Compared to Lewis "i am as good as Senna and know more about racing than Ferrari" Hamilton, Schumi was downright modest.

Seriously get a grip! :annoyed:

I new you would all bite...

No, I know he was a great driver, not the best though, Prost/Senna.

He was a cnut, plain and simple, and formula one was so boring in the late 90s/early00 that it was hardly worth watching.

I like Lewis, but I don't want him to get to the point where he wins it with the easy schmachaer did, whats the point in watching when you no the outcome?

I respect him as a driver etc, but the reason I said I didn't want another one is its bad for the sport.

Ermm...Lewis has made those quotes to the press. How many arrogant interviews has Schumacher given ?

Once again again the Lewis fan boys cant see the facts and label a 7 time world champion as arrogant cnut while Lewis is humility personified. Your delusions are laughable.

First Lewis didnt say hes in better then Senna your just making that up I know he said hes the best driver out there or something like that in a court room. Second it wasn't me who said that about Schumacher he is my fav all time driver I would say he is the greatest of al time.

Where are these quotes?

And running title rivals of the road to succeed whilst endangering another is the stuff of a great champion.

Real peoples man there.

Seeing as you are 20 years old, i doubt that you would have watched either Prost/Senna enough to comment on their behalves.

And, Schumachaer vs Hakkinen was really boring wasn't it?

Seriously, i'll say it again - Get a grip!

Hamilton: "I am as good as Senna".

Sport.de quotes that in talking to journalists before the Japanese GP, Lewis Hamilton proclaimed:

"I know I am as good as Ayrton Senna" apparently stunning even seasoned British journalists present (though presumably not Peter Windsor) "don't you know I'm the best?"

"I can tell immediately where the line with the most grip is". Mocking Massa he added that being good on a wet track is not automatic for Brazilians and that Felipe in such conditions "cannot find the limit"...

 I never thought I'd hear someone try to make Schumacher out as Mr Humility!!!

I think its ridiculous you think McClaren were bias towards Hamilton last season. You seem to be calling for Alonso to recieve preferential treatment because he was current world champion. If he isn't good enough to beat Hamilton without preferential treatment - and he wasn't, he spent the majority of the championship behind him - why should he recieve it?

At the end of the day, of course Hamilton supporters are bias in favour of him. It should say something that impartial legendary drivers should as Lauda are speaking out about this favourment to Ferrari F1 is seeing at the moment (and has frankly seen for some time now). But who do you support? You just seem to be anti-Hamilton. You share the shallow outlook as a City fan does in football, spending more energy wishing someone to lose rather than your man to win. Won't you feel really, really shit if Hamilton wins the championship this year

He'll be a multiple champion, I have no doubt. I'd let the bitterness go now if I was you mate. It'll twist you up otherwise

He had the odd challenge in the time after Hill, but most of the time he was easily going to win.

Lets be honest, its much more entertaining to watch now, I stopped watching for a while because there was no point, as did many.

And no its not just Lewis, I include the Ferrari drivers, along with the other you drivers such as Vettle, Kubisca.

You are fecking retard and cant read what was posted. All I said was that compared to Lewis, Schumacher appears modest.

Are there any reports or arrogant interviews to back your claims about Schumacher? Even if there are, he is a 7 time world champion and not a rookie claiming to be as good as Senna and having more F1 knowledge compared to Ferrari.

who and what are you talking about?

Spell Correctly - Vettel, Kubica

I don't think Kubica stands a chance, he'd have to win both races and that won't be easy. I believe that he'll win the title someday though, he's still very young and will probably move to one of the two big teams in the future - winning it with BMW was never going to be easy. He's come a long way anyway, the first ever Polish F1 driver and a good one at the same time.

Anybody who dislikes Hamilton is not bitter. He may be the best driver out there but he is very dislikeable. Very few sportsman can pull of the arrogant thing, others come out looking like cocks.

ferrari are the scum of F1....i dont know how can people support them

I have hope that BMW could be a major race contender from next season. They're not that far away. And while Kubica has recieved a lot of praise, I think Heidfeld deserves some too. 56 points this season, as a result BMW have a very real chance of coming at least second in the constructors championship. He's ahead of Kovalainen in the standings too. I know McClaren might like the lad and think he has potential, but surely they can't tolerate another season like this one from him. It's been a disaster, frankly

Koovalainen has been awful. There were some rumours in Poland about McLaren being keen on Kubica but I wouldn't give them any credibility - people simply want Kubica to move to a better team, while I don't think it'd favour him as Ferrari has Massa and McLaren has Hamilton as their main drivers.

Massa isn't Ferrari's main driver, not by any stretch!

This is getting silly, penalties everywhere, getting very bitter.

Anyway, Alonso was the class of the field again, Kubica did brilliantly again, Kimi didn't have the pace when it mattered again, Hamilton was stupid and reckless again and Massa initally looked a bit lost, but drove strongly during the second half of the race to get back up into the points. The stewards are handing out penalties like confetti in the last few races. There's no such thing as a racing incident anymore, everything must end up with someone being blamed for it. There's no winner in that scenario. Bourdais must feel like topping himself - he's under pressure for his drive isn't he?

I really hope Kubica wins it, unlikely as it may be.

Ermm...Lewis has made those quotes to the press. How many arrogant interviews has Schumacher given ?

Agreed.

Bourdais seems like he is one of these drivers who just has no luck.

On Hamilton, well I really thought he had learnt from last season but it all blew up today. How was he ever going to brake for that first corner? I'm sure he'll learn, eventually. He'll still win as well.

Raikkonen :wenger:. A missed opportunity for Massa - he should have kept his head and not come up the side of Hamilton. He had the race pace to win today and at that point he was on the softer tyres, whilst Hamilton was on the harder compound with blackspotted tyres and the McLaren always warms the tyres quicker. Anyway that's probably looking back onto things a bit much, it wouldn't be Formula 1 without a bit of controversy.

Another great drive from Kubica and Alonso - cannot believe he isn't in a top end car. Looks like it may be a tight finish after all. It really should have been wrapped up by now, there's been way too many mistakes this season from the front runners. A lot of penalties being slung about - it all stems back to the original one a few races back, now anything will get punished.
