The F1 2004 Season thread.

just a question, does anyone think F1's boring because of shummi/ferrari dominance? if boring then what will you think if United kept on winning PL/CL every year starting from 2005 to 2011? will you think it's boring?

anyway I always reckon JPM behaviour similar the arse wanker! do you think so? :)
Both would be nice, Ferrari to win 99% of the races and United to win everything for the foreseeable future.

F1 is boring because of the cars and the money. The cars don't like running close together, which is exciting - and the manufacturers only want gormless twats like Coulthard as their 'driving representatives'. The fact that Mick and Ferrari are dominant is largely due to the fact that he is allowed to do as he pleases by the other teams. I don't mind if someone is genuinely quicker and beats the oppposition on pure speed and daring every week, but the way Renault and BAR conduct themselves (Sato not included), you'd swear they just want to be on television. Thats whats boring.

As for United winning the title 7 or 8 years in a row, well, despite United's desperate inablility to do anything in a boring way, its impossible to tell whether or not it would be boring until it happens and the manner of the victories can be judged. No United fan will baulk at the glory that such success would bring, but the manner of it is important too.

Not really. Montoya is not really a man who excels by executing contrived plans. He is spur of the moment and seat of the pants in a lot of ways. I think Wenger is fundamentally different in this regard (as is the nature of a specific race driving situation and football management). If you are referring to the way that neither of them seem capable of admitting any wrongdoing on their part, well no racing driver does I'm afraid. Wenger takes it to silly levels however and ends up looking a bit foolish to be honest.

Comparisions between the two McLarens.

Hopefully it'll be an improvement.

Formula 1 is supposed to be a great showcase for the cars, but I can't help but be sceptical with the Mercedes engine, everytime I drive my dad's E320, I keep thinking the engine is going to blow. :nervous:

Michael to win again? :wenger:

M$ wins

I'd give a detailed preview tomorrow

Right Canada.

Circuit Gilles Villeneuve does not live up to its name and it's a crap circuit IMHO.

Hopefully M$ will crash into the last corner chicane wall but that's very unlikely, more like oneof Sato or Juanker to do that.

I reckon a M$ win with everyone lying down to him.

(Then again I am never right).

More McLaren MP4 19B or whatever

read te newspaper today..
HK migth build a race track for the F1
cool huh?

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, June 18 (Reuters) - Brazilian Rubens Barrichello sped out of Ferrari team mate Michael Schumacher's shadow on Friday with the fastest lap in free practice for Sunday's U.S. Grand Prix.

Barrichello, still searching for his first win of the year while the championship leader sets his sights on an eighth in nine starts, topped the timesheets in both sessions at The Brickyard.

The Brazilian's best lap, set in the afternoon, of one minute 10.365 seconds was more than a second inside Schumacher's 2003 race lap record of 1:11.473 and he said it had been a 'near perfect start to the weekend."

I fancy a Williams win but either Juanker or Ralfie will fucuk it up somehow in the race despite a strong qualifying session, so I'd go for button win.

Don't think Ferrari wil be all that strong tbh, free practice are when teams run light to see how's their pace.

Actually that is the kind of place where it seems sensible to have a GP, rather than some 'field' in a desert somewhere. Hopefully a street track like Macau.

the feck is going on with you cnuts?

Mick is the greatest racing driver I have ever seen. You can slag him, criticise him, put him down etc..but jaysus, he is astonishing behind the wheel.

P.s. Rubens is a ponce, I've always thought so.

P.p.s. I'm pissed.

May I point you to Fangio, Gilles, Senna, Prost and so on.

M$ is winning so much just because of the compeition has been bollocks in the past few years

Its largely opinion Melvyn. You can't really compare drivers from different era's. You can only beat what's put in front of you. I would say Mick is the best I've ever seen (certainly better than Prost, Senna, Mansell, Gilles etc...) and from what I've taken in, only Jim Clark and possibly Fangio has any claim to be considered in the same league. Mick is an asshole though.

Yeah I agree it's pretty hard to compare eras like United players ie Best vs Giggs and so on but, I certainly don't think M$ is the best of all time, like what the original pster was trying to say.

Alonso takes pole in France, M$ second and DC third.

Hmm...Alonso to get a better start with Mick defending like a bollox into the first corner from whoever tries to bag him off the line. Coulthard to stall on the line or feck up in some other way.

Then Mick to settle in behind Alonso until the first stops, and then come out ahead. Renault will bend over for Ferrari because thats what they've always done, along with BAR. Maybe Fernando will have a crazy move on Mick after one of the stops, but that'll be it.

Mick to win and make it 9 out of 10, Alonso second, Barry third.

I guess you could call the owner of the team that ;)

Will probably be announced at Silverstone this weekend.
I would probably tthink it's Jordan if you aren't talking bollox.

what a crappy race tho, can't remember any maneouver except the one by Barrichello.

I gonna stick my neck out - Mick will not win in Britain.

He has a relatively poor record in Britain it has to be said, also, Ferrari don't test there the way most of the others do, also, Rubens is pretty handy around Silverstone, as are most of the other front runners.

I'm going for Jenson, Mick and Rubens on the podium in that order.

If jenson actually wins in britain that would be awesome. I kinda want Mick to win it though. if he can win in britain he probably is the greatest driver ..... ever.

In fairness, I don't think this one British GP win will change Micks status too much. He is easily the best I've ever seen though. Its quite conceiveable, that with a bit of luck during 1997, 1998 and 1999, Mick could be going for his 10th World Championship this year. All debate on Mick's greatness should end at that.
