I feel a bit of a scumbag for bringing it up but I really don't want to blow more money only to see a GOAT come on the market.

Aye, the penalty seemed a bit draconian, and overall it would discourage people from bidding big early so it would slow down the whole process.

As I understood it the penalty for exceeding budget was for one of the manager's GOATs to be taken off him and placed back in the available pool? I just wanted to know if one of Platini/Baresi/Ronaldo was going to be available to bid on before I start placing more bids on other players.
 
Only speaking for myself, but when I was lurking in the older draft threads, the formations and tactics discussions were very enjoyable. You can discuss stuff without everything (even fair points) being reciprocated by opposition manager. I don't get the problem of that discussion happening here, even the GK discussion we had before was fun.

I styled that rule planning on running this as a round based auction. Now that it's become a open auction, managers exceeding budget may have their DoF player(s) contract (cancelled at my discretion). They'll be banned and not released into pool. I'll update OP.
 
I'd echo @Tuppet 's post above. It's a useful debate and would include some of the players drafted that probably won't be picked at all for the games.

I guess its fun for the outsiders but the managers get the feedback of the team, weak areas and they have time to repair it so its not really their team in full. Its better without so the managers who get it right have the upper hand in games, specially in this draft where you pick more then one sub so you have the possibility to change a lot of things.

PS: im up for the individual player discussion but not the tactics/formation.

I think I caused this to stop. In an earlier draft, I had a wacky formation planned, posted in general thread...got criticised. Then moved to a more standard formation. It was a even game and my opponent was not thrilled as had I started in my planned formation, it'd have been an easy victory for him.

It's fair that we restrict this to knowledge and drafting skill of the Manager/AM and the discussions can happen in match thread.

My opinion is we should not talk about tactics here because it will be very boring to read the same things during the games. Let's keep the debates fresh in the games.
 
I guess both @Edgar Allan Pillow and @Šjor Bepo have fair points. I was just saying that it makes it more like a win or lose at any cost game (which is a fine way to play these draft btw) than more of a discussion.

E.g. I would like to start a discussion saying - "Hey guys what do you think of Robbo compared to Keane / Viera, do you think I would need a pure DM with him or another b2b would work ?" (just an example). Sure I'll get feedback and correct my team etc, but the discussion that can start from this could turn out to be great.

Either ways I don't have a problem, was just wondering why it is done is all. Current threads seem less enjoyable to me than the older ones (maybe cause I am playing).

Those should be OK, as you as you restrict information to a certain player. It's just the holistic overview we are trying to avoid.

It happens. Nothing against you imho.

I think it's because someone asked if camacho was a player of West ham lol so he should have felt attacked.
