The curious case of Jon Moss

Fat cnut is basically reacting to the fans.

I thought that helped for the penalty certainly.

I didn't think he was that bad - but by not giving them every FK he finally got in a mess with it. Like the pen was one too many a decision. I don't think it was a penalty but I've seen them given.

I think we're overreacting, tbh.

His weight & fitness level sure don't help him though.

He was 10 metres away and still got it wrong.

Refs have to do mandatory fitness test don't they?

As a newbie I can't post video but I suggest re-watching as there was a definite hand or shoulder on his back. He didn't massively impede him, but he was somewhat impeded. You can't argue it was only shoulder to shoulder, hip to hip, which would be fine. But there was definite pressure applied to the back and he was coming across him slightly.

No I'm not the WUM, you were unlucky that you hit the woodwork twice and if Cech was there instead of Leno you would of scored at least 1 and maybe more. Leno saved our Ars today alongside some gutsy performances.

BTW Keane > Robson by a distance for my money

Ofcourse it was a dive but in the last 15 years there's been the saying 'right to go down'. Most the pens in the last 15 years the player didn't need to go down. I think Fergie said Giggs hardly got any penalties because he didn't go down.

If someone puts their hand on your back with the ref behind you either go down and get a pen or don't.

Also last week Spurs got one given against us when the player was offside.
So it's ok to go down easy..... its ok because Spurs get iffy penalties..... and Keane was better than Robson "by a distance".

And you're not a wum? Gotcha.

Where's a yawn emoji when you need one.

The state of this guy. He's always been big and as wide as my TV, yet he still gets to referee in the Premier League, and even gets games as big as todays. Just awful.

Ethically, probably not. Penalties are arguably an unreasonable part of the game anyway. Someone gets a goal for something that wouldn't have led to a goal otherwise, is that fair? Do you complain when your team gets one in those circumstances?

Keane's one of your most underrated players. At his best was a much better passer than Robson, better close control and dribbling, better defender, better engine. Robson played a more attacking role and was the better goal scorer

He can't sprint, he's trying to but it's not coming off.

I agree but Fred sort of leans into him, albeit very lightly and that sends him diving to the ground.

from where Moss is, he thinks that Fred clipped him with his legs.

Got it wrong anyhow.
Looked like a push to me.

We should get some sort of message out there. John Moss is too fat to fit or something like that.

Poor game all round. Penalty was the wrong decision, though can understand why he gave it from his angle. He also stopped Arsenal from countering when Xhaka and Rashford were down in the first half.

In fairness, he did well to keep lenient with his cards in a game that could easily have boiled over.

Whatever, if you're ok with diving, your call, don't need to justify it.

Up to you, whatever works for you/your team.

My, those Keane/Robson quotes are funny.... keep going.

:)

Cool, he was a great player. No issue with anyone saying one was better than the other. Personally, I think Keane was one of the best midfielders in the last 40 years.
I agree, I think he was fantastic and I would pick him to b e in our team now over any other. Need that leader.

My current most hated ref in the league. He's literally a fat Dobby.

Bet he cant wait for VAR. He can plonk his fat arse on the half way line and rewatch everything on TV, plus it's a minutes rest every time. I'll put money he uses it more than anyone next season.

There must be fitness tests he's passing to be allowed to carry on reffing at this level. And as long as he's passing the tests the FA can't really do anything about how 'large' he is.

Him being a fat feckwit isn't so much the problem, it's the fact that he's a ridiculously unfit fat feckwit which makes him a terrible referee. He's always way behind play and just guesses most of his decisions because he's not actually close enough to play to get a good view of what happened.

He also tends to ruin the rhythm of games by stopping the game too much to take a breather. Like today when you were breaking away but had a man down in the box, he stopped play because he was sucking wind.

I can only imagine he hires a personal trainer and gets in halfway decent shape every summer to barely pass the annual fitness tests and then goes back to being a fat lazy fecker during the season.

Refs are full time right? How the hell can you be out of shape when you have all that time to sort it out. Didn’t fergie get fined for accusing a ref of being unfit? I remember Clattenburg being quite podgy before returning leaner and with a new haircut. Probably just me but I’m sure he was a better ref after that, or at least I found him more tolerable.

Looked like a push to me.

yeah it does to me too - and having now seen it from behind the goal, it's a massive cheaty-twat dive to get it given too

the ref's angle it does like a bit of a pen - he got done over basically

#FattyMossIsInnocent

there are some great posts on this thread though -

I didn’t think he had a bad game until the penalty decision which was very soft.

But I just don’t understand in this multi-million pound industry that all the referee don’t look fit. Surely it’s about time referees were full time and trained at the same rate as the players. There is no way Jon Moss can keep up with play being that overweight.

Only reason fat feck gave them the penalty is because he needed a stoppage to catch his breath.

He may not look fit to the eye but he must surely be passing some fitness tests. I personally haven't noticed him struggling to keep up with the flow of games, he's just a shit ref.

Tell us how you really feel about Moss?

Anyway, never a pen but Lacazette basically conned him/cheated.

Inept ref, but a combination of poor goalkeeping/defending/performances and finishing cost us today, not just the ref.
I know, but we were good for the draw until this hippo gave that penalty. Absolute killer decision, and it's annoying United fans disregard it. It killed of our chances, Arsenal were never gonna survive those upcoming minutes without the second goal.

the fitness tests didn't use to be particularly severe I know that - in fact I think they were the same for ALL levels, but I think they might have changed that, although it doesn't look like it for JM

DMOR says something like

1 - 40m in 6 seconds x 6 - you get a rest in between runs

and then

2 - you're trying to do 40 reps of 75m + 15m walk/rest in 15 seconds for the 75m & 18 seconds for the 15m recovery breaks in between.

40 sets of 100m in 30 seconds? (1000m in 5 minutes)

it's about 2 1/2 miles at 8 minute mile pace in even pace reps with rests then

this isn't tough is it for young guys, over 40 you probably have to be in better condition than the average, I dunno

Yeah, agreed there that it was a piss poor, game-ending decision.

well, it helped Arsenal over the line, I wasn't convinced we were running the game tbh

It was a game changing decision, if you fail to recognize that, nothing I can do about it.
I wouldn't have been if you had taken your chances early on. So yes, you have only yourselves to blame even if the decision didn't help of course.

He's the type of ref that buys every jump on the floor. I lost count the amount of fouls he didn't give when people tried to carry on, but as soon as somebody takes a dive he's got his whistle in his mouth faster than a £20 prostitute.

Rather that than blame things beyond our control.Shows it was in our hands

Of course it was. You had the chances to take the lead early on but got behind after a weird shot (and tbh poor goalkeeping). Even if imo you were not good yesterday you were still in the game for a long time but I thought there was never a period where you put Arsenal under enough sustained pressure to claim you definitely should've gotten levelled. Then the penalty decision killed the game off of course.

Overall it was a poor game from United but you still could've gotten something from it with a bit more luck here and there. Shows you that you'll be in the fight for top 4 right until the end and also shows that Arsenal are not really something special either. I though their defense was there for the taking as there was loads of space quite often.
