The Criteria Draft - The Drafts

Personally I can't see why it shouldn't and it did in the last draft. But we don't want to go ahead only for it to be ineligible later. I've PMed rpitroda but I think he's gone to bed.

Aye, he's really the only East German you would want.

Happened in the last draft, KM got him but the rest of the East Germans weren't really on that level.

In my personal opinion it shouldn't count but I don't really know what has happened in previous drafts so it's up to yourselves.

Okay, we've already said that it's fine. We were just checking.

It's clarified in the OP, gents. If you're born somewhere within the boundaries of present-day Germany - then you're out. Unless Germany has suddenly fallen out of the top 30, that is.

I might as well open this particular can of worms - to get it out of the way. I'm sure many have studied certain options. But. Italian football scandal. Did Juve win any trophies in 2004-05 and 2005-06?

Formally, they didn't. They were stripped of both league titles.

I would allow it, it was an independent nation at the time.

The determining factor is the player's birthplace. If X represented Yugoslavia and was born in present-day Croatia - he doesn't qualify (since Croatia are among the 30). If he was born in present-day Slovenia, on the other hand, he does qualify (since Slovenia are outside the 30).

I was looking at that, and I think they should count as having won it for this draft. It's easier, and they did win it. Same for Marseille or whoever else.

4. Cutch - Maldini
5. NoPace - Ronaldo 7
6. Stobzilla / KM - Zidane
7. FromTheBench/Theon - Romário, Makélélé
8. EDogen - Keane, Scholes
9. BigDunc9 - Xavi, Iniesta
10. rpitroda - Nedved, Seedorf
11. BorisDeLeFora - Nesta, Vieira

I was going to argue Davids should count, and maybe take him. Surname started trying to qualify fro World Cups in 1962. For football purposes, they were independent.

But the draft rules are pretty clear by just saying "independence" and with all the Yugoslav stuff it's best if we're clear.

I had to go through like 6/7 countries' history on Wikipedia right now.

I 'll still have him and Zidane for my 8&9 category then. 2 trophy less seasons at Juventus

I do not like to bring it up. But unless we count the Intertoto cup as a pointless trophy, I don't think this is the case.

It has to be two consecutive seasons together with no trophies. And they don't have that - again, unless the Intertoto doesn't count. And, well - it was a fairly big tournament. Mickey Mouse cup, certainly - but no worse than the League Cup, say, and I presume that counts.
