To clarify: Player X could be born in Y (a former Swedish colony which gained independence in July 1965). Player X, born in January 1965, represented Sweden - and was, technically, a Swedish citizen at the time of his birth. See the thing?

I was in the impression that they had to be different countries today. Happy that I got that one out of the way, seems a lot tougher with this development.Good. Or, actually, it's not good at all - for me.
But it's a potentially important clarification - there are some players (some very good ones too) who are very relevant in this context.

This one is pretty solid. You need to register at some point, though - but it's free as far as I know.
Thing is that some sites include friendlies, others include only full international friendlies - and so forth.
The surest way is to check the database(s) of the federation in question, where such is available - they will usually have all official caps listed (which is what we're looking for here).

Also I have clarified the 30 nations/born in another country rule. We are going by place of birth. Irrespective of what the country previously was if you were born in a country on the top 30/ in the lands of a country you play in you would not meet that criteria. This is per Aldo's suggestion in the other thread which makes the most sense.
