I really hope the man in question gets picked for one of these things again. As for Harte, I'm a bit schitzophrenic about him as an Ireland supporter. He turned truly awful very quickly, but as you say he's played in some respectable defences in his prime. He was bloody good going forward at his peak too. I think his poor showing at the World Cup was more down to Rooney deserting the left hand side leaving him to deal with 2 players and having Gerrard playing the left centre midfield role and his lack of legs means he is poor defensively in that role. I am not trying to make out Baines is a great defender but he is certainly not a poor one. He was just left exposed by poor management at the World Cup.
