False nine? Yeah, sure. If you don't have the personnel. But he's not as good as a false nine as he is - nay, was, the past tense is probably permanent - as the false wide man. Because that's what he was. False in the sense that the real threat was out wide (ish). Only Garrincha himself has anything on him in that - false wide man - role.

In the middle he scored shite loads, yes, yes - but nobody who knows anything is really, I mean really impressed by that. Not "really" as in "Maradona". Which seems to be the thing he struggles with.

Thank you, exactly what we were looking for.
He will get a free role as an inside right forward. I think he will be unstoppable in this setup with the right accommodating players in a counter attack.
So far we have a top class finisher, too incredibly good going forward full backs with the right one able to handle the defending without any cover, and a sweeper to get the ball forward better than anyone can. That's classic counter attacking setup

When my draft comes around, there will be NO lounging about. Deadlines will not exist. Well, they will - but they'll be short as feck. Fifteen minutes. Or yer out.

Anyone picking players over - or under - the height of 165 centimeters will be banned. And all managers have to agree to picking at least three players with criminal records.

He's got nothing but the Fat Boy - and he will give the Fat Boy to me in a trade which makes sense at the time, but will turn out to be horrible for him eventually. Then he will hate me, but I will win him back through telling him stories about Swedish maidens I've known - and, not least, the fact that my grandfather was present at the 1958 WC final and cheered for Sweden, in spite of Pele and everything.

No amount of Swedish maidens can get him to agree to Ronaldo for Des Walker.
 
Just for clarification purposes, does European Footballer of the Year, i.e. Ballon D'Or pre amalgamation, count?
 
Cheers guys, I am trying a very different approach from previously as we just have three reinforcements in total in this draft. The most difficult criteria of them all for me, considering your final team has to be completed with just three reinforcements.

You have absolutely no clue who you will end up capable of picking either so you need to give yourselves the ability to pick any of the all time greats.
 
Oh. In Mike Phelan's holy name I now realize you were talking about your own team, Trip.

Disappointing. I thought you had decided on some new, draconian rules which would've rendered all our picks useless.

Anyway, I'm off. Won't be back until tomorrow morning. No idea who I'll pick either, so I won't send a damn thing to any of you plonkers.

Will check in within 8hrs, though. I need to be up by then (horribly enough), so that's covered.
