It should never have been a Moyes banner in the first place...

Whether we like him or not, he'll never stop being The Jonesen One

Fantastic.

It should be put down IMO. In fact, it should have never been put there in the first place. Now, it looks a parody of what is happening.

I think that the guys in Stratford End would soon do that anyway. I saw today a lot of people arguing that is better to put it down which would be a silent message, rather than other fans starting to boo Moyes or to take their own 'Moyes out' banners.

Its gone up so it may as well stay up. If they take it down that's Moyes done frankly. The fans aren't likely to turn around and give him or the team grief but the 'Come on David Moyes' and 'Every single one of us will stand by David Moyes' chants have gone. If the banner goes too its clear the fans have turned. Even the Glazers won't be able to mistake that.

Did someone say... chosen one?

Does no one remember how this chosen one thing goes?

Jesus Christ, now we have to wait for another 20 years until Moyes' son comes in and make us good again.

On another note, I made the allegory of Moyes being more like Anakin rather than Luke Skywalker. Ta-ra.

Which is a good thing, right? That would force the club to get rid of him, even if they plan to keep him for another 6 months.

Which is kind of the point of taking it down, no? It's actually a good way to get the point across IMO

That's a good reason to vote yes.

No point taking it down now, to be honest. Perhaps it shouldn't have gone up so soon, but to be honest, there's nothing wrong with the supporters getting behind the new man.

The thing is though, the club aren't stupid and they know the supporters aren't happy with what is going on at the moment. I don't think taking it down will change the situation for the better. They'll probably still stand behind Moyes if they have this belief that he will prove to be the right man. All this will do is cause a shit storm and detract from the effort put into supporting the team this season. With regards to Moyes, what will be will be.

I'd leave it up and just show that we've done our part this season at the very least. The onus is on the club and Moyes to do their part, whatever that may be.

Excuse the bump, but did anyone catch the interview on TalkSport this morning, when they interviewed SEF's about this banner? I missed it.

You didn't miss much, just Tufty talking shit.

Basically the banner won't be coming down any time soon.

Whilst i'm still in the pro Moyes camp, I don't get why the banner had to go up before he achieved something. My annoyance with the whole thing now is who the hell are SEF and why do they only get to say what goes up? Surely the fans have a say as to what decorates the ground?

I just think the banner is cringey, much like the way City have those three stars over their badge.

We should threaten to take it down more often, Moyes obviously takes it pretty seriously.

It's certainly questionable whether it was a smart idea to make that banner in the first place.

But taking it down now is out of the question - unless you're one of the clowns that is pissed off with the home crowd for supporting the team and thinks we should be booing and chanting against the manager.

It's a good way to show the board our displease with Moyes without resort to booing the team.

If we beat Bayern he should get a knighthood and a statue outside the ground nevermind a banner.

i said when it went up it was awful, its a parody now and its fsr better off gone than Skys cameras panning from Moyes broken look to the banner everytime we concede

As much as I think it looks pretty ridiculous now, I think we shouldn't remove it until Moyes is sacked (or retired 26 years from now).

I personally don't want Moyes, but I'm not going to disrespect him as long as he's our manager. When he's gone, the banner can go.

(Ignoring the fact Sky don't actually do that) Whereas taking it down would go totally unnoticed, and lead to no piss-taking whatsoever from rivals and no increase in the hyperbola from the media at all, would it?

It happens once or twice a game.

Of course it would, but a few days piss taking would die down and from then on it would be a monkey off his back.

Also the medias reaction has been more litotical than hyperbolic.

Surely it's irrelevant whether it is there or not, the context of it is that he was chosen to success Fergie, therefore he is and always will be "the chosen one" in that regard

I guess if you are somebody who thinks the fans should be hounding Moyes out then, yes, taking the banner down makes perfect sense.

But I just don't buy into that mentality, I was disgusted when Blackpool fired Ince (not that he's not a dick) in response to a direct demand from fans. It's just not the fan's job in my book, there are good reasons fans don't get to directly decide a club's footballing decisions.

It's not up to the fans to support a manager for the sake of doing so which is literally being asked here. The banner is just ridiculous.

It's their banner, they can put up whatever they like. There's nothing stopping anyone holding up a 'Moyes out' banner at the game.

Correct me if I'm wrong but they didn't pay for it out of their own pockets?

It's a big banner and in a prominent place and the way SEF promote themselves as representing United fans as they take donations you can understand why people feel they have a right to ask for it to be taken down.
