Does anyone know why Da Guia is wearing a hat? I saw it on a few of his pics, plus he wears his hat on a statue of him. It doesn't look like a muslim thing either, it's more like a sailor's cap - not that I'm an expert on hats though

We couldn't really miss the opportunity to get a Zanetti/Garrincha right flank.
Has to be one helluva left back on the other side to contain that.Not sure, but it was fairly common for players to wear some kind of cap back in the day (on the pitch, I mean) - many did it, and it lasted longer as a trend in South America than in Europe, AFAIK.
That said, his particular cap doesn't look like the typical ones worn by S-American players (they were more like swimming caps, i.e. perfectly flat). And he doesn't wear that thing in the WC footage I've seen (as far as I recall, anyway).
Meh, Garrincha would defo bottle it.
Well tbf, if his vice captain in the last game had actually bothered to play, instead of calling every one of his teammates "japoneses" and throwing a hissy fit, he could have had a chance
