Yea that's it, fans are ole out because we don't win every game. It has nothing to do with the performances being dreadful or being 8th with half the season played and having dropped points to almost every team that's below us. Sure let's pick out the 80s since that's really the only decade that Ole's tenure compares to, because even by the post SAF era standards Ole falls short. And now fans that have high expectations and won't settle for the mediocrity should try supporting other clubs, some fans really are deserving of the the shit we are seeing on pitch more often than not.

I'm not expecting today to be any kind of turning point and we'll be losing again very soon but I'm just happy today was a comfortable victory and a good night. These wins don't come as often anymore so I'm going to enjoy them, they have become few.
Do as I do, enjoy the wins, and then desperately hope Ole that proves you wrong and goes on a massive winning streak.

It will be a really long hard road back to being successful. I think message boards can be really toxic in this sense. All I can say is we (as a collective fan base) will have to strap in for a bumpy ride and have thick skins in doing so. A great manager has already proven that miracles can be done even with this exact ownership, and the plc was dog shit too and that didn't stop him.

We could:
a) Appoint a qualified, proven manager.
b) Back him in both the transfer market and in man-management for at least 3 seasons.That means giving him the players he wants for at least 6 windows, and let him make all the decisions regarding who gets sold and who plays. Basically, take power from the players and hand it to the manager.
Now, I know we already partially did this before. Van Gaal was a very outdated manager, so let's count him out. He was also mildly insane.
Mourinho was backed in the transfer market for 2 years. But he clearly wasn't backed in his power struggle for the dressing room against players like Pogba.
When the club decided to not back him in getting Maguire and other key players in his third season, he was a sitting duck. Cue the toxic relationship and firing.
In summary, appoint someone like Klopp and give him all the power to influence his squad in his own way. Do what Liverpool has done, with a better manager than Ole, who is arguably one of the worst managers in the Premier League.
So to answer your question, that is something we could do, even with the joke of an ownership that we have.
But since you're super intelligent, I guess you're right anyway.

I can agree with that, anytime you have a divided fan base on any subject it can create a toxic atmosphere, especially online. Realistically there isn't anything we can do about the owners, but imo that shouldn't change the fact that we should still hold the club to high standards outside of that. From the players to the manager. We don't say Lingard and Pereira are crap but that's fine let's put up with them and not replace them because the owners and board are shit anyway. Our investment has been bad but we have spent close to a billion this past decade. Which means that the backing is there and with the right manager in charge we aren't far from returning to the top. That's why replacing Ole imo is so important, because even the majority of the fans that still want him in charge don't believe he will be the one that wins trophies.

Our biggest mistake these past years has been letting manager after manager influence the squad in any way he personally sees fit, rather than having an idea in the club of what we want to do in the market going forward.
One thing we as a club do seem to have gotten right this past year is the transfer committee and the clubs "identity", this should ensure that even if we fire a manager, we don't have to click the reset button every time.
Yet Moyes had 35 points at this time. Sorry to break it to you but Ole is worse than Moyes.

But I agree that we've approved in that area since Ole came in. It's no longer blind faith signings.

He has tools to do much better than what we are doing though. Also we are not going to attract world class stars with him nor do we have the money to get them.
An easier way to improve would be to bring in a better manager this summer.
Hopefully Ole can do better and end on a high.

Ole’s achievements are no better than Graham Potter. Actually Potter’s CV is much better because he did okay in the Championship as well. So how does he get job offers at a club like Brighton and the other gets the job at Manchester United?
I have nothing against Ole and we all want it to work but I don’t believe he’s the right man for the job. Why should we trust him to make the rebuild when there is no evidence he can do it, blind faith? It’s like a FTSE100 company employing a director with 3 years experience at an SME. You have to work your way up the ladder.
He has no record of building a team. The football hasn’t exactly been amazing. We had a good game against Spurs and a good 25 minutes against City. Today‘s game was more to do with Newcastle’s errors than us creating loads. He hasn’t changed anything from Jose’s tenure imo, the players bulk when any pressure is applied to them, i.e the chance to make top 4.
I would trust someone like Poch who built that Spurs team as it looks now, and coach the likes of Kane and Alli to become better players. We have a bigger budget and arguably a better youth system. That’s why I would prefer him whilst he’s available. Saying he hasn’t won a trophy really frustrates me. It’s about the improvement he made to that entire team, the exact same thing he did at Southampton before that.

If Spurs did actually play exciting football or play top teams off the park rm17 route to the CL Final maybe this wouldn't be so meaningless, but actually they were lucky not to go out in the group stage, lucky in every knockout round. Produced the most timid final performance I've ever seen. Meanwhile their football has been tedious for a long time now.

Forget what you think of other perhaps settled and certainly more experienced teams....It is unrealistic to think top four when we can't defend and with a lack of experience in the squad. Our names just a name but the mentality of the group has not been aggressive enough. They've shown potential in big games but they've not realized or have forgotten, EVERY game is a big game..because of our name. Ole has not done a good job BUT in some respects he's done decent. It takes time to develop players, especially in todays climate of distractions. If we corrected our mentality, we would not create as many problems for ourselves. It takes time to lay the foundation. We're potential and maybe we won't push on but look at Rashford last season and this season. Look at Masons contribution. The big focus should be win a trophy. We can do that. If not, sort Pogbas situation out and add more depth/experience/hunger..to the squad and get rid of liabilities.
For me our results - mostly against lower teams, has been an attitude/application issue. Not so much quality. You can always improve on the quality but we've been to slow and let teams settle and their experience has won over. The watford game, was just one of those games where we beat ourselves. We MUST be more aggressive. Play faster. Press harder. Until they make mistakes because they will make mistakes. The players need to be good enough so let's see. If we sacked ole now, we'd create a lot of uncertainty. it's questionable our transfer situation would be any better. There's no magic wand.

I, personally, believe today's game could have been very different if not for a little help from Newcastle. They looked comfortable at the back until Tony Marsh had a decent effort parried in by the keeper. Greenwood's, although a good hit, took a deflection. Could have gone in anyway, who knows. Rashfords goal was well worked and an unusual way for us to register. So did we get better at breaking down the 'low block'? Who knows! We had plenty of help.
Big two games coming up, test our away form at Burnley & Arsenal. We'll see if today was a turning point or not.
So why not point out those who posted in here when Newcastle scored rather than have a pop at those who actually posted when the game was done? What about having a reasonable debate with those posters, or doesn't that count because they think like you?
