Tennis Thread 2014

I know a lot of people who don't like Federer. He's insanely arrogant, so it's hardly a surprise.
Off or on the pitch? On the pitch he seems very reserved on his emotions, but don't know nothing about him being arrogant. Anyway, I don't think that there was an another player that had a comparable technique to him, not even the great Sampras. For that I liked him in the same way I liked the likes of Jordan, Ali or Messi.

If Djokovic does lose this, that'll be 7 in a row right? Surely thats a record?

Federer's looking younger today than I've seen him for years.

It's the gold-embroidered "RF" thing on his clothes, for a start. And he comes across badly in interviews sometimes, his arrogance shining through. FWIW, he's my favourite tennis player ever.

I find it mind boggling that people have even a shred of anything but love and admiration for Federer.

Different strokes though (no pun intended), i'm very meh about Nadal.

federer's intensely passionate, he just doesn't let it out on the court because it affects his game negatively, while it helps Nadal and Djokovic. Murray's not exactly my cup of tea either.

There's no rational reason I guess. I've just never really 'taken' to Federer.

They have gone two points without showing a Celebrity now. Surely a record?

For Federer to be showing such fitness levels at his age, in the 5th set of a final, is remarkable.

Unless you count Federer and Novak as celebrities!

Really big hold there by Novak. Massive, could be a turning point for him.

I want to see Novak attack a bit more, he's become a bit conservative in the last half an hour or so.

Why is Federer deemed arrogant because he doesn't scream on the court very much or fist pump

I like them both, but Nadal's always been my favourite just for being so well mannered and generous, while being an absolute warrior on the court. I also like Federer's cool demeanour and his grace around the court. Federer and Nadal have had a very iconic rivalry and I'll always think of them both as the best of this era.

I like them both - they both come across as humble.

This is turning into a real classic.

2nd serve and volley on break point, a pickup like it was nothing.

Could we have some confirmation that there are some famous people in the crowd please?

Nadal's a cool guy, very humble and as your say he is a beast on court.

I just don't like his bullish style - give me technique, touch and Federer's grace over power and athleticism anyday,

All of the big four come across as humble IMO.

It's not that. It's the interviews and gold 'RF' stuff that has always bothered me. His on court demeanour doesn't annoy me at all.

The man is into fashion and pursues things outside tennis, I love that shit.
