It's just the play style. He grinds down opponents and plays more like a machine than a human. While there is a lot of variety in his shots, his patterns seem very monotonous to me. Add to that his questionable sportsmanship (ball bouncing, taking his time, injury time outs etc. - more in the past than now, sure, but still)... as I said, it's a matter of taste and some just prefer the offensive, all out attacking type, not the players who wait for the opponent to make an error or suffer a dip in their form.
All of that applies way more to Nadal than Novak.
I like Djokovic, I'm just not a fan of the way he plays tennis. I don't know what Nadal had to do with it though.
