Tennis 2024

Well, let’s see how well your overconfidence ages in about a half an hour :)
I'm not over confident about Novak, I'm just very confident in the lack of mental strength for most of the ATP tour sadly.

Your posts are quite overconfident in general. For instance, 15 minutes ago it was basically a fact that Djokovic would take this set 6-0 or 6-1.

I think the only chance he has is if he breaks for the match. No chance he can actually serve this out if it comes to that.
Given he's serving second that won't be possible right now. To win it, he will either have to serve it out of win a tie break.

Novak always runs away with it in the final set tbh. Especially with the early break, feared the same.

Also, Novak doesn't look remotely unfit right now. His physicality this set has been incredible.

That's the match. Cerundolo deserves to lose just for that pathetic volley at 40-15.

I went for £10 at 3.5

He was 5.0 when a break down, so imagine that was as good as it got
A friend of mine lumped some at 6/1 immediately after the break. That immediately climbed to 2/1 when he broke back though

Yeah better than what I got. Had him for 3.2 right after the 3rd set. He's handing out presents this week

@saivet Ruud is a set all versus Fritz on clay. There's not much hope for him vs Novak either this year.

I still don't think it's a forgone conclusion for Djokovic against Ruud. If Fritz get the win, then that's another story.

I think Ruud gets a set or even two but that's about it.

Ruud 2 sets to 1 up while Rune with an early break on Zverev.

What a match that was - Novak take a bow.

Ruud through vs Fritz in 4 and will face Novak. Zverev a set down vs Rune despite having a lot of chances on his serve.

I’d be pretty staggered if he didn’t play the match, but I think Djokovic’s year is all about the Olympics. I could see him dropping this one if playing on this injury put that in jeopardy.

Yeah, I'd be stunned if he didn't play when his path to another final has Ruud and Zverev in it. The man is insanely fit, I'm sure he'll manage.

In other news, Zverev with yet another 5 set win to get past Rune.

Yikes. Got to take back everything I said about Novaks fitness yesterday. He's pulled out of RG with a miniscus tear. Sinner is the new #1. We'll have a new RG winner.

Hope Novak can get fit in time for Wimbledon and Olympics. Don't want him to win but he shouldn't miss out through injury.

Djokovic withdraws from the tournament due to a tear in his knee :(

Insane toughness to gut through with the painkillers yesterday. He shoud have retired though, probably tore it worse and might miss the two most important tournaments of the year.

Might have to hang it up, meniscus tear at 37 is some serious shit. Although its hard to imagine for someone with his drive.

Toughness absolutely but if he sensed the severity of the injury, it was about stupid as what Rafa did against Fritz at Wimbledon two years ago which effectively ended his career.

I was going to say, I wonder if this will be similar to that match. A great and admirable 5 set victory but ultimately the match / injury where it may be a major blow to their careers.

Nadal was carrying an abdominal issue into Wimbledon and it only got worse and Djokovic admitted that he had a small knee problem going into the tournament too.

Nadal tried to come back too quickly, hopefully Novak won't make that mistake but I suspect if he's feeling okay, he'll play at the Olympics.

Given the way he played in that fifth set, much like Rafa at Wimbledon, I'm fairly sure he aggravated it even more. I'm not sure why these guys, despite all their experience, don't make the decision to retire from a game? Atleast in Rafas match vs Fritz, his entire box was asking him to withdraw. Not quite sure what Novaks team was upto yesterday? Even if you're running on adrenaline with the painkillers, surely you know when it's something that serious?

Blame the choking bum he was facing. Couldn’t beat a pensioner with a torn knee.
Plus Djokovic also has experience of playing through injuries and finding out that they are not as bad as feared or they are manageable for the rest of the tournament.

Carlos vs Tsitspas about to start which should be a cracker. Even given Sinner's form this year, you do feel the winner of this match probably wins the entire tournament.

Asshole shouldn't have played on in his last 16. Now the tournament misses a quarter final match
It really isn't Novak's fault that Cerundolo was too crap to beat a 37 year old man on one knee after being 2-1 up and a break up in the 4th. Doesn't deserve to be in the Quarters either way.

Tsitsipas will just never make it. He's just ridiculously poor when playing anyone half decent. The errors in the last 15 mins are embarrassing for a pro level player.

Looks like Carlos took pity on us viewers and decided to play a stupid game to get broken back.

Tsitsipas has just ever so slightly improved but his errors are just astonishing. When he hits errors, he just goes all in to make it as bad as possible.

He's probably going let it affect him more than he should but I think Tsitsipas' complaints are valid.

With his backhand, I dont ever see tsitsipas beating Alcaraz.

If you're talking about the Carlos grunt, I agree. I feel he often uses it as a method of gamesmanship where he'll intentionally let out a longer than needed grunt at crucial moments.
