That's the experience of a grand slam winner telling there.

No question that FA-A has the talent to be one too. Amazing quality in this match from both players.

FAA has a closing problem so Medvedev just needs to stay alive. Even from two sets down I could see him doing it.
The sort of insight you only get from a man who knows everything about tennis*.

*has shown even the most peripheral of interest in FAA’s career to date.

Woah! Tsitsi looking mint! And, he is not a clay player… he has two SFs on here in Melbourne already?? As for Medvedev, you know, he is playing too much for his own engine maybe… Nadal vs Tsitsi would be interesting.

FAA had plenty of chances to get this done so he only has himself to blame here.

So Nadal - Berrettini in one SF and Tsitsipas - Medvedev in the other.

My vote is on Tsitsipas as a sort of dark horse to beat Medvedev this time, as I don't think Medvedev has been great this tournament. Tsitsipas seems to be rising to the occasion and finding form.

Nadal in the other. Aside from being my favourite, I just think Nadal's natural CC FH pattern to Berrettini's average BH will just break him down.
I've never seen a single players BH slice ever trouble Nadal, except for Murray possibly. The rest he just dances around and blasts it, so Berrettini will struggle to neutralize Nadal.

Either way, it's going to be a very entertaining end to the tournament.

Nadal's coach, Carlos Moyá:

“After the match we saw that Nadal had lost four kilos, the dehydration was very great”, revealed Moyà in statements to Cadena Cope’s ‘El Partidazo’. “The extra day is going to come in handy. I trust that he will be 100% recovered for the semifinals,” added his coach.

“We had many doubts because from the end of the second set. Rafa hit a downturn due to heat stroke. He was dead and the miracle happened. I did not expect the victory”, added Moyà. “It is much better than two months ago. I think that not even in the most optimistic scenario did we think that this could happen,” he said.

Dude sweats like a (insert animal that goed with this saying in English). So no wonder.

Berrettini has the game to beat Nadal, he has to serve and dictate the point though and stay consistent enough.

I really wish Novak was playing. Australian Open feels so empty without him. His game would elevate to another level once he is past quarters at Australia.

I wonder if a day of rest is enough for Nadal and Medvedev to recover from the grueling quarterfinal matches they had.

On the women‘s side, it‘s good to see Collins come as far as she does from an American point of view, particularly with the health issues she has had to overcome.

Nadal has three days, between Tuesday and Friday.

As for Medvedev, I don't think he'll be affected. It was a long match but not extraordinary.

Barty is very good. Really in a league of her own it seems.

Captain obvious out.

Don't think Swiatek has played all that well but wasn't expected a beat down from Collins.

If she doesn't beat Collins in straight sets it will be a surprise. Such a nice person as well.
Yeah very likable character, which is nice to see at the absolute pinnacle of things. Though I think Federer and especially Nadal are nice dudes too on the men's side.

The forecast isn't great in Melbourne for tomorrow's match, so both men's SFs are likely to be played under a closed roof.

I can see Nadal dealing with Berrettini handily enough. He'll break down that backhand. Not sure I can see Berrettini winning a set.

Tsitsipas v Medvedev harder to call but I can see Tsitsipas doing it. Medvedev hasn't looked at his best this tournament, but either way, I can see this match having a positive outcome for Nadal, either in terms of ending up playing Tsitsipas who's probably less likely to beat him, or a knackered Medvedev from a slog of a match.

Was not quite expecting this. Nadal a set and double break up. Berretini has been average and Rafa's targeted his BH well. Hope he doesn't have his usual third set mental walkabout and gets this wrapped up early.

This has been all Nadal so far! 2 sets to love, and he'll want to close this out in 3 and hope Tsiptsipas and Medvedev go long in the other semi.

Who could have thought he'd be in this position here when you saw his form prior to the tournament? Big change for 21 here.

Nadal playing great tennis, two sets up and yet to face a BP. Which means he's yet again going to go missing in a third set, isn't he?

Given his form, lack of sharpness and his draw, I genuinely would have been happy with a QF/SF here. He got lucky with his draw opening up a bit and his form has been surprisingly good. Medvedev hasn't looked amazing this tournament so if Rafa does close out the win today, I hope he can win Sunday.

Nadal looking pretty incredible here. Smashing winners everywhere, and the forehand isn't as wobbly as it has been in earlier rounds.
Even the backhand is a huge weapon again.

Basically, we're seeing Big 3 stuff here. Second week of a major, coming up clutch and peaking in the semis just in time for the final.

Are we going to see a Nadal collapse in the 3rd and 4th set again?

I can't think of any other player going from being so mentally strong to finding it this hard to close matches.

It's especially bewildering given how mentally strong he has been for most of his career. The last 3 years have just been a bag of nerves.

Nadal can't even get a point on return games now.

I always seem to wake up when he's winning comfortably only to then see him allow his opponent into the match ffs

Berretini has now won 18 points in a row on serve since Rafa missed that sitter of a volley at 2-2 30-30 in the third. It's genuinely bizarre how such moments just change how Nadal plays completely these days.

He's exceeded expectations with reaching a final here. A win in the final would be HUGE but given how things go for him at the AO, I'm not holding out much hope. It's a cursed Slam.
