If we hadn't already heard the kind of crazy stuff his family is capable of, I'd agree with you.

He aint getting deported because of what his family is saying in Serbia . Only reason he gets deported is if Australian government thinks that will score them more points than letting him stay.

I mean it was pretty much the reaction following Novaks post about coming to the UK that actually made them sit up and take notice. This government strikes one as the type that would take offense at the stuff being said about them by the Djokovic family.

Djokovic has kind of had a win today. It's probably in his best interests as well that his family stop having presser conferences and talking nonsense in the media till this is settled.

Says the speech was in Serbian... can't help but think the translator is having a bit of a laugh there
Then you should have seen his first speech... he was calling Mother Serbia and Russi, India, China, and the whole of Africa.. all united behind Djokovic apparently...
He also said Djokovic is a Serbian from Serbia
He did sound drunk more than anything.

To be honest, the parents made him this way.

Yeah. Not a Novak fan, disagree with his stance on vaccinations, and don't believe he should be allowed to enter the country, but that's an embarrassing effort from Border Force.

I just saw his parents on the TV giving a speech. Apparently his mother said he'd fought "for justice" and endured "such torture".

Someone asked if he'd gone to a public event while positive and the brother called the press conference a joke and posed for pictures with his parents and uncle for some reason.

It's a court case over a visa. He's not a prisoner. It's hilarious how crazy they are.

There may be more drama yet. Even if they don't decide to deport him there seems something odd with him allegedly testing positive to covid again. Either he had it and swanned around Serbia mask free infecting everyone around him or it was invented to try to bullshit his way into Australia. And also weird that the test result was after the deadline to apply for AO exemptions. Of course no special treatment here ;)

Can you post something that actually has traction? Something with that many retweets and likes is just a desperate push to get him out of Australia. Even Reddit which was 100% against Novak has shifted his way after they seen how they cancelled his visa. His deportation was never about rules or health. It was desperate attempt to gain even more power.
They might kick him out tomorrow, they might not - and both is lose/lose for Australia.

Initially it was about public outrage at a covidiot being let in when none of us would be. The #scottyfrommarketing realised it was highly unpopular and made Border Force enforce the rules (who had dropped a bollock allowing 2 others in on TA's medical exemption). They did this so incompetently that the judge reverses the visa cancellation due to procedural unfairness rather than covid being a valid reason for an exemption for immigration purposes. Now we wait to see if they would rather piss off the vast majority of Australia and not cancel his visa again and deport him and look weak on border control (that he himself tied this issue to the numpty) or risk taking the balls move of cancelling his visa and deporting him which would include a 3 year ban from Australia.

I'm torn. Much though I'd like to see Djokovic deported any electoral damage that him staying would visit upon #scottyfrommarketing might just be worth it. Especially if we then specifically exclude previous covid infection from medical exemptions from now on.

But for the vast majority of us who are very very unhappy it is still about a rich covidiot laughing in the face of the sacrifices that we have made, facilitated by an incompetent PM.

To be honest I think the electoral damage is well and truly done. Whatever way this now goes the government have truly fecked it up so it’s going to be gold for whoever runs against him. And I don’t even know anything about Australian politics.

But I’m saying that on the flip side I think it may also be the reason they will decide to kick him out - cos it can’t get that worse for them. That can only gain from here I think.

You might be right but #scottyfrommarketing has been consistently utterly incompetent for his entire tenure yet unbelievably he got back in last time. I'm hoping for a landslide against him in the next election, which will be soon, as even though Labor are far from perfect they are a shining light of competence and fairness in comparison.

Labor sticking the boot in gently now.

The Guardian said:
Labor MP Mark Butler appeared on ABC News earlier, echoing Kristina Keneally who told Sunrise the decision on whether to re-cancel Djokovic’s visa was one for the government. Butler said the saga had been an “embarrassing soap opera”.

Any individual who comes to this country should be able to satisfy the entry tests, so if Mr Djokovic can’t satisfy those tests then he shouldn’t be in Australia. That’s really ultimately the decision the government has to make, but they will have to make it lawfully because this has been a deeply embarrassing soap opera for Australia and I’m sure for Mr Djokovic as well.
... It is a deep embarrassment. They’ve just got to get it right.

Are they seriously going to deport him after he embarrassed them? Massive loser stench. Won't even be mad if he gets 21 now.

The USO is far away so it's likely not to even be a problem by that time but Novak could really save himself a lot of future headache by getting a vaccine.

Question is going to be asked to Novak if he's at the AO. Better prepare.

L'Equipe just published another article where they reiterated that their reporters traveled to Belgrade to award Djokovic some prize on the 18th of December. Two days after he tested positive. He's really going to have answers for these questions whenever he does a presser because ending his conference like his family did really won't be an option.

I actually hopes he gets deported. It would be hilarious. His Dad's press conference would eclipse anything Keegan could dream of.

He seems too stubborn. His family seems to worship him as a martyr so I doubt he'll learn much from this aside from "I can get what I want".

Well there is Indian Wells, Miami and some tournaments prior to US Open. If I was Djokovic I'd just get a jab and apologize and try to score some sympathy points. But knowing his personality, I am not sure what he is going to do. I think he will double down even if it costs him his career. At that point, his only hope would be that few athletes die of heart attacks or develop serious health conditions and that it can be proven it was due to a COVID vaccine. It's tough being Novak fan right now. It really is.

Edit: I wish no athlete ill will so my hero Djokovic looks good.

IF he gets deported from Australia, I think he really might just go down the path of taking a vaccine. The man is on the verge of being the GOAT and he really wants that. At that point, I think his resistance may reduce if he believes he's going to face obstacles at other Slams as well.

I don't think he'd do anything that would cost his career. The man is still at the top of his game and has a free run at the Slams and at GOATness. I feel he just might reel under pressure if things go against him in Australia. He's already made enough of a stand against vaccines.

Bit dark?

Be ironic if he catches Covid while in Australia and has to withdraw.

The way it is raging here that isn't impossible. I'm locking myself in my house until this wave subsides. Which of course is the exact opposite of what Domicron and #scottyfrommarketing wanted when they pushed speedy opening up. The fecking idiots.

My spider senses suggest you’re not a fan of your PM? How did he get elected if he’s such a flaming galah?

Same reason Bojo got in. People vote against their self interest when they have a blind tribal loyalty. Aided by News Corp hysterical propaganda.

Last time there was a totally fake "Labor will introduce a death tax" scare to keep the oldies loyal. Who know what bullshit they will come up with this time. Happily this still not ended clusterfeck is distracting all attention and reducing the time for News Corp attacks.

They couldn't have looked more guilty if they tried. If I didn't know the context, I'd think they were being questioned in relation to a murder.

I think it's fairly obvious to everyone that Novak either:

a) Lied about his Covid infection.
b) Intentionally went around meeting kids and giving interviews to L' Equipe knowing very well that he is indeed positive (No, I don't buy the arguement that the result which was declared at 8pm on 16th took a day or two to get to Novak).

However, given that his visa decision seems to have been based on procedural fairness, there's a good chance he gets away with it.

I think that’s a tactic, basically, Australian gov. can no longer hide behind some clusterfeck of the process and need to make a direct call and this much worldwide publicity given his superstar status will test how strong the minister’s hand is, not an easy one.
Lets be real the Morrison government has been quite shithouse at making direct calls.

The last Labour government being an utter mess was the primary reason, the way they couped Gillard gave the Libs enough ammunition to run on for years, also the mining boom coming to an end around that time didn’t help, which amplified the ‘weak on economy’ refrain. My professor at the time couldn’t bring herself to vote Labour and went Green instead.

It’s actually mad that since I’ve been in Australia, Libs just got in by default, Abbott, Turnbull (made some climate noises to redeem himself, but still a puppet while in charge), Scotty, the heights of competency and dignity. Murdoch runs this country.

Agreed. Gillard had done a really good job given that she was in minority government. They should have lost for what they believed in with Gillard in charge rather than back peddling on things like gay marriage with Kevin.

I vote Green with Labor second preference as I know they have no chance Federally especially as Albo is my local member. We do have a Green NSW MP though although he isn't "that" Green and a really good hardworking local member.
