Family refuses to answer questions on Djokovic's positive PCR
The Djokovic family faced a flurry of questions from the press about the player testing positive for Covid on December 16 and attending events in the days that followed.

Djokovic is under scrutiny after legal documents showed he tested positive for Covid-19 on 16 December, yet still attended indoor public gatherings, including one with a large group of children, in the days that followed.
Asked about his actions, the player's family did not respond, instead announcing that the press conference was adjourned.

The conference ended with the family linking arms and singing a song with patriotic lyrics: "I am coming from Serbia, never leaving it."

Wish Djokovic would get vaxxed his whack job views have always been suspect. But the government totally effed this up and Djokovic legally should be allowed to stay in Australia. Even the government lawyers knew they had a weak case.

Nonsense, I was advised to go get a PCR test by my doctor last month when I knew all I had was a chest infection and wanted antibiotics and each LFT was constantly negative.

I and numerous others in similar situations would know we ain't positive and didn't isolate as a result.

You seem like the type who sneezes that would freak out and isolate.
Worst post I've ever read on the Caf, and that's saying something. You sir, are a menace.

I still can't see the Australian government rolling over and accepting this. As @ExoduS said, an ultimatum behind closed doors: leave gracefully this year or take a 3 year ban.

This...cannot be true surely?!

They’ve been hanging out with Farage so I don’t think anyone should be surprised by this. It’s an easy win for the nationalists in Serbia, which seems to include Novak’s dad.

 One of the great Caf COVID posts.

Just like the son.

Cant stand him
Neither can I.

He should just do the right thing and go home but of course he won't, so I hope they send him packing.

He has clearly bent the rules and doesn't come out of it with any credit at all he's an absolute bell end.

This is going to have a whirlwind of effects around preferential treatment, given he is unvaccinated.

All the anti-vax nutters requesting entry or denying the vaccine are going to point to this incident and mention how he was allowed to play, despite having no grounds to do so.

Flip-flop AU really looking like utter bellends.

Presuming you've not come across him/her in other threads?

If you have an opinion on Hamilton v Verstappen or Ronaldo v Messi.. stay away, you will get non stop drivel and so angry/antagonistic.

But yeah, this does top it.

The things they're saying. It's only going to further antagonize the Aussie government. Can definitely see him get deported tomorrow if these sound bytes continue.
DUnno about that. I think Novak's tweet implies he's extremely confident he'll play.

Well that means a positive covid test is a reason for entry. Which isn't what is written in their own rules?

This is all rather confusing but based on their own rules he has no legal right to a medical exemption and should be deported.

Djokovic is obviously a complete wanker, which was already suspected by many, but confirmed to all by the fact he went galivanting around without a mask (in direct violation of Serbian law) when he knew he was infected with Covid. He comes out of this looking awful.

On the other hand, this seems like a classic case of a state vs federal mix-up, where the Victorian State advised that prior Covid infection was grounds for medical exemption for entry to the country for non-vaccinated people, when in fact the Aussie Federal Government (who of course are the ones who actually control the ports) do not accept this. That disparity seems to have caused enough confusion among the boarder officials at the airport to ensure that they strayed from due process, leading to the visa cancellation being thrown out on appeal for said procedural errors.

The Australian Government also therefore comes out of this looking pretty awful and their position is only going to get worse - they either let a known antivaxx nutjob, with a recent history breaking Covid isolation rules, remain in the country much to the chagrin of most of their population, or they risk looking petty and bitter by unilaterally cancelling his visa and deporting him after losing this court case. Personally, I think they'd look marginally less pathetic by opting with the latter option - kick him out.

In that case, how comes he won his appeal? This all such a mess. Everyone looks daft as feck.

I imagine a few of Novaks sponsors are cringing at the thought of the next few weeks.

I pretty much agree with what you have written - except the final conclusion where i think in the balance of probability i think the government would suffer more harm by overruling their own courts decision - especially as I'm sure there would be appeals etc - either way though they come out of it looking pretty poor

Australia - what a joke. Clueless plonkers embarrassed worldwide. Makes Boris look like a genius.

Haven't been following, but it seems he's been allowed in.

Will he get booed between every point now ?

How likely that AO will be played behind the closed doors given the exponential rise in covid cases there?

Yep. His family is going to ensure he's deported tomorrow.

Can you post something that actually has traction? Something with that many retweets and likes is just a desperate push to get him out of Australia. Even Reddit which was 100% against Novak has shifted his way after they seen how they cancelled his visa. His deportation was never about rules or health. It was desperate attempt to gain even more power.
They might kick him out tomorrow, they might not - and both is lose/lose for Australia.

Says the speech was in Serbian... can't help but think the translator is having a bit of a laugh there
If we hadn't already heard the kind of crazy stuff his family is capable of, I'd agree with you.
