What do we think of Sinner vs Alcaraz long term?

Alcaraz is a freak athlete, but Sinner's shot making is amazing. Alcaraz is 2 years younger though. Question is can he improve the way Nadal did back in his formative years
I've been all in on Sinner since around 2019, when I watched the entirety of the Next Gen finals, so I could see him winning multiple slams, in the Murray/Wawrinka range. Alcaraz is a different beast. If his trajectory stays the same I could see him doing double digit slams. He's the biggest cert I've personally seen since Nadal.

Yup, Carlos definitely looks in a different league to Sinner and the others right now. Plus, once Rafa and Novak are gone, there's going to be a lot of Slams to go around.

I’ve already said, but for Alcaraz to look this good on all surfaces, and he did look good on grass despite the 4th round loss, at 19, is pretty rare. I'm not sure if I can claim him to be best teenager I've seen, but he's currently the favourite for 2 Slams - this one(in play obviously) and the French.... as a 19 year old, in a market where Novak and Nadal still exist too. No one else has been in that position, but Nadal and Becker were dominant at RG and Wimbledon at this point.

Be nice to see him and Swiatek(away from RG) win here and it be a true passing of the torch moment. Novak/Nadal almost certainly about to become part time players and Serena's retirement.

Mens semi final day today and Ruud, Khachanov, Tiafoe and Carlos, on paper, is probably the most uninspiring bunch of semi finalists I can remember for ages. We've just been so spoilt by having the Big 3 permanent fixtures in these matches. Have some hope for Tiafoe vs Carlos being an entertaining match though.

Khachanov gets the break and will serve at 4-3. The quality of tennis has been fairly poor so far.

This has been a tough watch. And the commentators on ESPN USA are making it harder

That is utterly awful shotmaking decisions from Khachanov at 5-3 with the entire court to choose from.

I am sorry but even when the points are getting exciting, the quality appears suspect. I mean what was that lob with all that time?

That third set point never seemed to end! Ruud finally takes it after a 57 stroke rally!

He's going to regret that miss. He literally could have put that shot anywhere and chose an awful lob.

Only watched from 6-5 but a decent tiebreak and well played from Ruud.

Tie-break was all right. Before that, it was every bit as tentative, poor and nervy as the Thiem Zverev final. I can't imagine how the final will be with two first time finalists again.

It should be alright if it's ruud vs alcaraz

No matter who of the four makes it, the pressure will be so high and the golden opportunity of a rare Slam which makes me believe that it'll be just how the 2020 USO final was. I hope I'm wrong though.

That was one of the lowest quality finals I've seen, though the 5th set was pretty dramatic and a good watch.

Assuming Ruud wins, I think he'll show up in the final and be okay. Would worry about Tiafoe and Khachanov though.

On paper an Aclaraz vs Ruud final would be the most intriguing and probably highest quality but I want Tiafoe vs Ruud

Bold of you to assume Karen wins this from a set down.
Oh, right. Forgot about Ruud's RG beatdown. I still do think Karen can win here. He's serving well and hitting big and Ruud hasn't been that great himself.

Yup! Both really nice guys and you'd be happy for whoever wins but, assuming nerves don't ruin it, Casper vs Alcaraz with a first Slam and the #1 on the line, has to be the best possible final right now.

Not sure Ruud or Alcaraz will think of this as a rare opportunity. They might be nervous but surely they have a bright future, and not a once in a lifetime slam opportunity.

Khachanov is a dangerous player and very good on his day but he's just too one dimensional for me liking. I think Rublev is similar with a lower peak but more consistency too. Hit the ball as hard as they can type of players.

The world just owes him for knocking out Nick to be honest. Hope he wins a Slam some day just for that.

I still think chances will be a bit limited for them while Rafa and Novak are around. The USO has always been a bit of a random Slam but the other 3 are fairly locked in by those two.

Zverev's 68mph serve still makes me laugh, as does Thiem being sat on the line judge's lap to return it.

This was genuinely one of the worst tennis matches I have ever seen despite the scoreline and the "drama". Thiem slicing a 68mph serve on Championship point as well

Got to be one of the worst slams in living memory. No crowd, Nadal opting out (Federer injured meaning it was the first GS for 20 years with neither involved), Novax DQ'ed after a pathetic Neymar-esque dive and overreaction from the line judge and then that final to top it all off.

Just really praying this Slam has a better final.
