Tennis 2021

Cilic-Medvedev has been fantastic
Cilic has been great. Medvedev has been defensively brilliant. As I say that medvedev cracks a beautiful forehand winner down the line.

Cilic takes the first in a tiebreaker. Great tennis from both but especially Cilic.

Well done Roger!

Will support him now that my favourite player Krygios had to pull out with injury and no brits left to support either, also anyone who plays Djokovic because his games are just starting to become an exhibition and no fun to watch at all.

He does seem to put a lot of pressure on himself after losing certain points and I think it doesn't help him as much as someone like Murray for eg. That said yesterday was definitely a skill gap. Korda would have troubled most players on that kinda form.

Yeah anyone but Djokovic or Federer

Impressive by Medvedev to keep it together after losing the first two sets with Cilic playing at a very high level. Bad news for Federer as they can meet up in the quarters.

Medvedev can take the number 1 spot away from Djokovic here if he wins it or if he makes the final and Novak doesn't. Him and Zverev are proving that this generation can go far on the grass too

What the hell? How mad is that..... I mean it's massively unlikely, but it's still a bit mad. It's almost certain that he's on the 6th highest ever ATP points too I think without a slam, win here and he'll overtake Pete's highest ever tally.

Stan once had a Slam-RU-SF and yet never went above 7000pts. A solid run in the Masters does wonders for that ranking.

I'm guessing Medvedev has played a lot over the past year to be in a position to sneak in to #1 despite not having won any slams during that time.

He's certainly played a lot more than Novak but almost everyone has to be fair. He's notched up some big results reaching the USO SF, winning the ATP finals, winning the ATP cup, reaching the AO final and RG QFs.

I think because he got destroyed by Novak in the AO final it's quite easy to overlook how impressive his last 12 months have been.

Yup a deserved number 2 seed and very likely the man who will put an end to the Federer wimbledon dream.

Five of the quarterfinalists on the men's side have been set. Djokovic vs Fuscovics will play the winner of Shapo vs khachanov.
Berretini will play the winner of Zverev vs Faa in the lower half of the draw with the last quarterfinal being between the winner of the fed and medvedev matches.

Zverev two sets down( was up a break in both)while Medvedev is 1-1 right now.

I can definitely see Roger losing to Sonego today. The kid is a good player (I say kid but he's 25 or 26 :D),
Good competitive match. We will see what happens after the break.

As for the rest of the tournament, may as well give Novak the trophy right now  There's no one in the draw who will beat him.

Zverev just got out of jail massively. Going 0-3 down 2 breaks so early would have been devastating after fighting back from 2 sets down.

Incredible that his comeback started after that nasty fall. He really is a physical beast Zverev. FAA needs to pull himself back into this. Federer looking comfortable against Sonego, consistently attacking that backhand on the serve.

Shame from the scheduling team to have No. 2 in the world on court without the roof for this one - match postponed until tomorrow. Apparently, he still haven’t featured on Center Court either, talk about preferential treatment towards Fed...

Federer raised his level today. He’ll hope that Medvedev doesn’t go through now and getting to the final would look a lot more likely.

Very unfair for Medvedev that his match gets postponed it has to be said but he should still make it through

Oh come on. Who would you honestly rather see at Wimbledon?

Almost as silly as having Raducanu playing the last match, when one of them has to play tomorrow too.

Well done Roger!

Did not expect him to reach the quarters. A good come back tournament. Has got a few good matches under his belt.

I wonder why they couldn't finish the Medvedev match on centre court since Roger's match is finished?

Raducanu doing well again. She’s going to be a star.

Im very cynical about British tennis players, but the little I’ve seen of Raducanu she looks excellent. Could be playing beyond her ability of course, but her length is immaculate, her backhand is brutal, she seems fearless and looks a proper athlete too.

Shame, looks like the run is coming to an end. She looks gassed.

Raducanu looks exhausted, the lack of professional fitness is showing through.

Not at all her fault, but it shows the level you need at grand slams. Reminds me a bit of Murray on his first appearance when he got 2 sets up against Nalbandian but just didn't have the energy to close it out.

The way she was breathing on the chair made it look more like a panic attack than an injury as such. But then again she was struggling for a while with it.

Hope she's okay. Looked completely fatigued at the end of that first set and into the second.

John Mcenroe with zero chill.
