Tennis 2019

Indeed he did. Wasn't anything special in this match though, Čilić had some ridiculous unforced errors and plethora of double faults. Kudos for today though, I really thought Cecchinato will deal with him, but no way, nice win. And a reward for that - Rafa in next round.

Cillic has been crap for six months. Think his days in the top 10 are over. Had a good career despite his limitations and won a slam which not many players can say on tour.

Apparently, at the start of the year, he announced attack on #1. Currently ----- 78th in Points Race. :wenger:

Čorić's pretty good for Croatia, and might see Rafa tomorrow.

Very good match between Đoković and Medvedev. And Nole just started to return *everything*. Plus some sweet successful drop shots.

Đoković - Medvedev 3-6 2-1

Lajović with result of career and semi final.

Wow, Nole is 1-5 down in third, and Medvedev is serving. Haven't seen much of the third set, watched ending of few football matches.

Pella to serve for the first set.

Only seven broken serve games in this set. God bless that lovable red dirt.

But of course, broken back, and steamrolled in the tie-break.

Very interesting start to this semi between Rafa and Fognini who's just broken Rafa and will now serve for the first set.

I cannot remember the last time I've seen Rafa being bossed on clay! Also Fognini staying calm and in control so far. What's happening here?

Fognini has 2 breaks already in the second set. Incredible.

5-0 down. I know Fognini is doing well, but wtf is Nadal doing.

If this wasn't Nadal I would think he's deliberately thrown the match:lol:

Fognini struggling to serve the match out. He's got the nerves

Nadal now starting to play. Fognini needs to wake up if he wants to win this match

Wouldn't be a huge surprise if we saw a GOAT-level meltdown from the Fog here.

Maybe. Rafa just needs to calm down a bit as he was rushing everything and it’s playing into Fogninis hand. But I’m not sure Nadals service game is good enough to mount a comeback even if Fognini gives him another break.

The Fog gets his win

Also Fognini vs Lajovic in a masters 1000 final. Mens tennis is just confusing at the moment.

Nice to see Fognini cross the finish line to win!

ATP 500 Barcelona and ATP 250 Budapest are this week. Barcelona seems pretty strong, with Nadal, Thiem, Zverev (who just lost his match to Jarry), Goffin, Fognini,...almost all that played in Monte Carlo save for Croatian duo, who are both in Budapest. Oh, yeah, no Nole as well.

Thiem getting a bit frustrated with Schwartzman at the moment.

Nadal loses the first set to Meyer in Barcelona after having 4 Set points. I don't think Nadal was this bad even in 2015. If he doesn't fix this soon, it's Djokovic's title at RG for sure.

Yeah because Djokovic is in great form himself.

Djokovic has been even worse so far since the AO.

Has already broken in the 2nd and I really doubt he'll lose to Mayer here..

99% of your posts in this thread are attempts of jinxing Nadal into winning tournaments

Djoko was in awful form post Wimbledon last year and he won the USO. Djokovic lost to RBA pre AO this year and he won AO. The man knows how to pace himself and to peak when it matters.
Rafa needs the momentum of wins and form more than Novak does.
I know the wind is playing a factor this clay season so far but Rafa is usually very good at handling it. His last two matches have been the poorest I've seen him play on clay since 15. Just no confidence at all in his shots.

Not very convincing but Nadal takes the set. He still seems to be playing within himself and just rarely going for his shots.

Djokovic got slapped around at Indian Wells and Miami. Two tournaments you expect him to atleast make the final in. He also wasn’t very good at Monte Carlo.

I wouldn’t exactly say he was in awful form before US open. He won Cinncinatti and beat Fed.

We seen it before with Djokovic. He reaches the top of the mountain and people make predictions on how he’s going to surpass Federers GS record and then he starts to fade. I don’t know if it’s motivation issue because I refuse to believe it’s all that criticism about replacing the ATP chief has gone to his head.

I'm hoping that final set gives Nadal a bit of a confidence boost It's the only time in the entire match he played like himself. He seemed visibly disappointed at the end as well. Ferrer next up for Rafa.

I just think he's always saving his best for the big moments these days. He's lost a lot of Masters and ATP tournaments you'd not expect him to lose (IW and Miami, losing to RBA (twice), losing at Monte Carlo, the final losses in Paris and London last year but he's just always a lot more focused when it really matters. I'd still back him to make the finals at RG at the very least.
