Tbh, lads, even the most ardent of Federer fans should be able to recognise that the last couple of years has been a massive bonus. He’s been playing with house money and even if we’ve seen him win his last slam - and I don’t think that’s a given - it’s not the end of the world. Better to have loved and lost and all that.
It's been a privilege to see the lad play even if he never wins another match.

I do hope he makes it to the O2 in November. Will give me a chance to go see him:drool:

Nadal/Del Po tie break

Big credit to Anderson for winning that, seems a decent bloke too. That semi final might be a bit one dimensional though. Raonic, Isner and Anderson have hit over 300 aces combined so far this tournament.

feck off BBC constantly moving this match.

You moved it to BBC 1 about 10 mins ago and now back to BBC 2.

Great match and incredible from Anderson. Wonder how long Federer will keep going though.

Yeap.

If in 2016 after he limped out of Wimbledon and someone told me that he’d go on to win 3 more Slams, I’d have laughed it off as insanity.

Obviously very disappointed because I think he threw the match away to some degrees, but even if he wins nothing from now until the end of the season, it’s already been a more successful year than 13, 14, 15, 16 combined.

There is something so steely and determined about Anderson throughout this tournament so far. Honestly would not be surprised if he wins his semi and makes a good go in the final, if not win it. Unusual too, as he's usually not known to be mentally tough.

I like Anderson. His style isn’t great to watch. But he is respectful and a lot of players would have rightly celebrated more wildly after beating Federer like that but he was respectful.

Bloody hell double fault from Nadal on set point

Nadal lining up his water bottles always makes me laugh.

Delpo wins the breaker.

We might have a match on here..

If they want to really gussy up the Laver Cup, one of guys on the World team should do an impression of a WWE heel and kick over the water bottles between games. Then smash someone in the face with a steel chair before agreeing that, actually, maybe things had gotten a little out of hand.

Nadal has absolutely thrown this set away. To DF at set point is just criminal.

Don't expect Nadal to lose, but just had a thought that it would be weird if both Roger and Rafa went out on the same day.

:lol::lol::lol:

Do you remember was it Lukas Rosol? in the first or second round of Wimbledon, kicked over Rafa's bottles during one changeover? Rafa looked like he would absolutely kill him:lol:

Great point there from Delpo

Piss poor shot selection from Nadal to use the drop there.

If Del Po's serve continues to fire, there's not much Nadal can do here. The guy hit 6 unreturnable serves in a row in the TB.

Don't be so pessimistic:lol: It's only the 3rd set.

That serve looked like it was in to me. Chalk flew up as McEnroe would say. And yes it's in.

Delpo in fine rhythm on his serve. Could get interesting if he keeps holding fairly easily.

Did he run over your brain?

I'm a Federer fan. Naturally I don't want Nadal winning Wimbledon.

What you mean naturally?

You make it sound like it’s a Man Utd vs Liverpool rivalry. Don’t understand how people can hate tennis players. Yeah someone like Kyrgios and Tomic.

Yes.

I'm a gigantic Federer fan so there's nothing unusual about it despite your sense of alarm. I don't hate Nadal at all. Great chap and great tennis player. I just want Federer to be more successful.

Nadal is closest to catching Federer in terms of slams, so it's only natural that Federer fans will want Nadal to lose.
