Hopefully Djoko/Theim take out Federer because just incase Nadal makes the final, don't want to lose to Fed for a 4th time this year.
You don't think he can be taken out before? I think if Fed makes the SF he'll beat either of those two.

Is Thiem a threat on grass? I always thought that clay was by far and away his best surface.

His biggest obstacles imo are Djokovic, Raonic and Murray, in that order. If he plays as well as he did in the Sunshine Double then he can beat all of them convincingly but it isn't the case atm.

It's never really seemed like Thiem thinks he can be good on grass (I get the same impression from Wawrinka) but in fairness he has come through an admittedly nice draw in very impressive fashion so far. Dimitrov has looked really good so far as well and so will pose a challenge in the next round to Federer. That being said, I still think Federer is the favourite ahead of Nadal to win the title.

He's played surprisingly well so far so I'm hoping it continues for one more game but it's unlikely.l

I just don't think anyone has the mental strenght to beat him other than Djoko in that half but I'm just hoping anyone at all manages it while he's not at his best. Don't want him making the finals!

Federer vs. Dimitrov will be interesting in that Federer will play against someone who is stylistically very similar to him for the first time in a long time at a GS (Well, as far as I can remember). Although maybe that's just the single-hand backhand and generally attacking style that makes me see the strong comparisons.

If Federer can do that and replicate his early-season form (Particularly his Indian Wells form) as he advances through Wimby, it's hard to see beyond him as favourite to win the whole thing.

That is the 4th round draw for the women's singles. Stunning encounters, the lot of them.

It's mad that Konta and Kerber are like older than most of those - despite as above, all being forever.....and those two just randomly shut up the rankings out of the blue recently.

EDIT - Konta's a bit younger than I thought actually. But I was a bit stunned Kerber is 29, like where's she come from? What happened to that other German who loved Wimbledon?

Kerber's been in the top 10 pretty solidly since around 2012 to be fair, bar a couple of quarters and semis she just never made much impression at the slams. If you mean Lisicki for the other German she's had a lot of injuries. Think she lacks a bit of dedication too.

Nadal and Djoko bumped off Centre Court again?! Murray vs Paire over Rafa vs Muller? Wimbledon will just put everything involving Fed and Murray on CC and it's not like Rafa and Djoko aren't huge draws either.

Yes, but they simply aren't the draw that Fed is worldwide, and Murray is in the UK

That means if they make it through then Fed or Murray will be on court 1 for quarters.

This is such a myth. You will be surprised at how popular Djokovic is outside of the mainstream media countries. Go to Asia, he is massively popular there. There are billboards of him at airports in Thailand , China and Japan. And I am pretty sure he is more popular than Federer in Eastern Europe, this is coming from my ex who's Russian, she said he is seen as a cult hero in Russia. Everyone there supports him over the other Big 3 and they broadcast his match on their main channel.

When people think of tennis, Federer pops up first. He's the Ali, the Le Bron, the Tiger Wood of tennis. It's not even up for debate.

Murray is the home candidate.

This discussion is stupid either way because as has already been pointed out, should they all make the quarter Murray and Fed will be on Court 1. You should do well to read some of @wr8_utd 's posts in this thread. He's not exactly fair minded when it comes to Federer.

If those are his big obstacles who are on earth is on the other side of the draw?!

What makes you so confident that Nadal would face an easier opponent in Djoker than Federer? Djoker seems to have found his groove back and he seems to have woken up from his abymsal form. This is the best I've seen him play since he last won a grand slam. Granted its still too early to tell and his opponents have been a joke so far but a Djokovic in a grand slam final, who hasn't won one since a year ago and determined to prove his doubters wrong esp with the recent McEnroe comment would be a tougher opponent than Federer imo. Djoker greatest asset is his mental strength and if he makes it to the final, I think he stands a very good chance of winning it. Would also be a fairlytale comeback.

Best day of Wimbledon today. Lucky to anyone who has got ticket. Hopefully there's no rain.

Lots of interesting matches to look forward to.

Definitely, I got tickets in the ballot on this day a couple of years ago.

My office is pretty dead today, so think I'll probably try to catch a bit on my phone later.

Big match for Roger today... I'm quite nervous as Dimitrov hasn't been playing badly at all and Roger has not quite found his 'A' game yet.

Be a good match but nervy..

Well, if he can't beat Dimitrov it's unlikely he will win anyway.

I just hope he is fit. Think he was slightly under the weather last match (started sweating after a couple of service games and box of tissue)

Should be fairly straightforward matches for Nadal and Djokovic today, no idea what to expect from Murray vs Paire (apart from a Paire meltdown at some point) and I feel if Dimitrov doesn't beat Federer today then he most likely never will. Raonic vs Zverev should be fun but the best matches will probably be on the ladies side, looking forward to Halep vs Azarenka and Ostapenko vs Svitolina in particular.

Personally think Dimitrov's standing as a future big force in the game will take a massive pumelling if he gets destroyed today. He's been in really good form though.. I think it will be a 4 set match, but tough to call who the winner will be.. Fed has been in poor form IMO, so he might step it up today.

He's 26 now. Think he'll be lucky to pick up a single slam personally.

I don't think many still see him as a future big force but I take your point. Just hope we don't get a scenario where he pulls off a really impressive win today then flops in the next round versus Raonic or Zverev.

Same I agree, its just people seem to be under the impression he's ever improving and is going to be a late bloomer but I don't see it. Only way he's winning a slam is if all the top 4 are completely over the hill at the same time, and Zverev is still not readyand he can maybe sneak a few slams in that transitional era.

Heard that he got a cold from one of his little boys:D Hope he got himself some nice chicken soup with lots of chillies:)
