Doesn't look like Klizan will last long, bit of a bonus for Novak after going all the way at Eastbourne last week.
aye, retired in the 2nd. Pity played well in the first and would've been a good match.

Dolgopolov might be going the same way as well. Hopefully two players retiring on Centre in one day might put the focus on injured players entering tournaments.

Not that anyone watching the BBC would know but Federer passed 10,000 aces in that set, they're ignoring one hell of an achievement.

Well that sucks another player retiring. Lasted just one more game than Klizan.

Wasn't able to watch any til now. Raonic's match seems hardly straightforward from the score. How was he playing?

And Fed got a freebie for a start.

Did anyone see Tomic's interview following his defeat to Zverev?

Basically said he's bored and doesn't respect tennis. He knows that he can play for another 10 years and not have to work again. When asked whether he would give the money back (prize money of £35,000 for going out in the first round) he said he would if Federer or Djokovic do i.e. he won't.

Guy is a complete tool. Hope he gets his comeuppance.

He's a tool. Not much wrong with the money comment though tbh. Same thing with Assou Ekotto (the old Spurs player). Lots of sport people only do it because they are good at it.

Not a fan of his but found the honesty refreshing and thought the question about handing back the money was absurd.

It is a job at the end of the day. I'm sure many other players don't love the sport and do it for money, but just not open about it.

Bublik (guy who Murray played) seems to have a similar attitude but in a more funny way. He was saying before the match that he doesn't really follow tennis (prefers football) as he doesn't find it interesting, goes into matches with no tactics, looks to play as many trick shots. The press loved it as he talks a lot and is funny.

The guy said he'd only watched Murray once before (find it hard to believe).

Even his twitter bio says sometimes I hit the yellow ball

I just irks me when someone shows absolutely no desire for what they're doing. It pays well, yeah, but just doesn't do the sport any favours. Tomic and Kyrgios share this demeanour.

90% of us hate what we do for a living. You may be one of the lucky few or think that attitude hurts the escapism of sports, but it's inevitable. It's a job for them.

Not bothered by Tomic at all, and don't get why others are....it's quite common really, given that years of youthful training don't train you for the lifestyle, they just create the player. It's no wonder so many grow disillusioned with it, regardless of the sport.

He's likely given up a lot of his youth for a career he doesn't want, but will allow for him to retire as a very very young man.

Don't really see what's wrong with what he's saying there.

Individual sport at that, which requires you travelling all over the world most of the time. Kyrgios in particular has said he's found it tough not being around his family so much.

Well he is part of the problem. If we had all other players like him then tennis would simply not be exciting.

We have too many players like him hence why the big four are still dominating. Even when they are not it's the other older players who are winning the tournaments.

If Kyrgios actually put in the work then he could have been a threat. Tomic could be a top 20 player. People hate on Berdych but he's been consistently a top 10 player for the last 8 years.

The two players that stand out from the new generation are Thiem and Zverev. Thiems problem is that he does overdo it with the amount of tournaments he plays. Where as Zverev just lacks that killer instinct, which should come with time.

Bit early to be writing him off I think. If he does fully commit to a professional lifestyle he'll be better than Zverev IMO. The issues with his body are a bit concerning, but whether that is down to poor fitness and conditioning (probably partly) or his body still growing I don't know.

On the Tomic thing, I don't really have a problem with it to be honest. Not everyone has to love the sport and while obviously people will feel annoyed that a guy handed so much talent is throwing it away, it's his life so I am not fussed either way.

I don't know. He has a bad attitude, he's 22, so still plenty of years left in him but I can't help but think if he doesn't get his mental game sorted out fast, it might be too little, too late.

I hope he does. Despite his attitude, I quite like him as a person, seems like he has decent banter. I don't like him on the court.

I was assuming I would miss the entire Murray match today with him being second on CC and expecting another straight sets win, but Konta is being a legend and has got herself involved in a match lasting over 3 hours and counting! So by the time I get home Murray will probably still be playing the first set! Winner winner :)

Brown complained that the wimbledon grass is exceptionally slow this year. I couldn't catch any matches yet but if that's true it's a travesty. The AO was brilliant fun because a tournament got faster for once. So why would they slow down grass even more?

Brilliant match between Konta and Vekic, pretty gutting for Vekic but she's only 21, many more chances in the future.

Looks to be true sadly. No idea why they'd do it, even the conspiracy theories don't make sense considering Murray is great on fast grass.

Why is it no one really refers to Murray as Sir? Is it something he has requested people not to do?

I think he's not overly keen on being called Sir. Feels he's a bit young, especially as he's still playing. Feel like I've read things to that effect.

Somehow missed the news that he got knighted. Bizarre title for a sportsman that still competes.

Something weird with the court? They're both miss-timing a lot of shots
