Federer is ridiculous really. How can he still be doing this.

I can't see it happening but if he somehow wins Wimbledon it'd be such a great sporting moment.
Why you can't see him winning Wimbledon? I would say that only the Djoker would be favorite against him there, and we don't know if Djokovic will be back to him form.

Federer beats Murray IMO, and now that the mental block is gone, he should be able to toy with Nadal on that pitch. I can't see any of Wawrinka, Berdych, Nishikori defeating him in Wimbledon.

Fed would be among the favorites at Wimbledon but I think some of the big hitters would have a chance. Raonic, Nick and Stan could do some damage. I think if Murray and Djoko begin to play like last year again then they both have chances as well. Nadal won't even make the second week there.

Djokovic should be his biggest threat. Kyrgios could be a dark horse, but not sure if he's yet fit enough for five setters.

Raonic is a dangerous player on grass. But Federer should beat him this year. Only reason Raonic won last year was due to Federers lack of playing time and that Cillic match took a lot out of him.

But a lot could happen between now and then. Nobody expected Djokovic to implode last season. Murray wasn't really great this time last year and nobody expected him to end the season as number 1.

Nobody is considering Dimitrov while discussing Wimbledon, which is a good thing. The only way he can do something is if there are no expectations for him. Sad.

That could happen again with him not playing much tennis for the next 2 months.

He was so good at the Australian Open. Seems to have faded back into obscurity and medicority again.

Just seen a video of Federers wife whistling Kyrgios when he was changing racquet. Not the first time she has been classless. Something has always irked me about her.

He missed 4 MPs or so against Sock at IW and lost (He had a good match , 1st serve was in the 80%) . After that he imploded and lost his first match in Miami. So yeah, business as usual.

You say that, but the guy had hardly any playing time leading into the AO. Key thing was him being fit.

I don't think Wawrinka is capable of beating Federer at Wimbledon. At Roland Garros, Wawrinka can beat Fed, but I think that Wimbledon is both Federer's strongest surface and Wawrinka's weakest. Moreover, I wouldn't' really compare Wawrinka with either Kyrgios or Raonic as regards to being a big hitter. The latter two are predominantly big servers, more so than Stan. Wawrinka's more of an archetypal power baseliner IMO who tries to outhit his opponent from behind the baseline.

Would have been nice to see Federer give Rome another go but probably a sensible decision to skip them all, he should have done so last year in hindsight. Wouldn't surprise me if he skipped the French Open too.

So she's ugly AND a bitch as well. What did she do in her previous life to get a champion like him as a husband. I hope he Tiger Woods her.

It's not the first time she's been a bitch during a match. Wawrinka has been subjected to it.

To be fair prof, I hope he hasn't done the last thing that you stated because of his kids and I don't wanna change my views on him personally like I did with Giggs.

She bore him 4 kids and always there with him on the tour to support him for years now. He also matured and started producing his best tennis after meeting her so perhaps there's more than looks involved here?

Classy of you.

Wonderful stuff from Federer. 5 sets in a row against Nadal now? Quite amazing how he's turning the matchup around completely now. His backhand has improved drastically in 2017 and is a real weapon now, but that off forehand made Nadal's life hell. Loved the accuracy and pace of it.

Good decision by Fed to take off in the clay court season. Has never been his strength and some rest makes sense given the age.

Yeah there's really nothing left him to prove by playing the smaller clay tournaments at this point. Its all about being fit for the majors, which at 35 means playing less and avoiding injury.

Some additional stuff on Fed backing his decision:

“Wimbledon has to be the biggest goal... but all of the grass really is important to me because I'll play Stuttgart and Halle there, too. Then of course I am looking very good for the [ATP] Finals, for the year-end championships, where I've been very successful. I like the indoors as well. So for me basically the second half of the season is a big priority now. That's why I'll take a break.”

Seems like he'll have a busy Summer/indoor season. He has a contract with Stuttgart and Basel which seems he'll honor this year as well. I expect him to play RG, Stuttgart, Halle, Wimbey, Cincy and the USO in the Summer and then Shanghai, Basel and the finals.

Still skipping Dubai and playing one of the clay masters IMO would've been better, but not going to question his decisions as he has been spot on this year so far.

Common sense by Fed to take a rest.. blistering start to the year and he risks losing momentum on the weaker surface, if he loses to a rival whilst feeling jaded. This way he gives himself a psychological edge going into Roland Garros, and if he loses, he can put it down to lack of match practice - win win and goes into Wimbledon full of confidence either way.

What a performance by the way, I think Nadal was actually playing well but Fed was just always one step ahead of him and executing the decisive shots so well.

He has a career long contract with Halle as well

Think it's due to his back.

He suffered a lot of back injuries during the clay tournaments last season. Sad to see for the fans in Rome, Madrid and Monte Carlo as they probably won't see him in any of those tournaments again.

Think it's due to his back.

He said something along the lines of his knee acting particularly funny on clay last year so his physio said it'd be a good idea to keep it to a minimum.

Clay season officially starting tomorrow.

Next 3 months are my favourite time of the year for tennis with the clay and grass season.

Murray and Djokovic are back too, so hopefully interesting week.

 that missed volley at 30-30 was bad from Simon.

Glad Novak got through though. Want to see a Rafa - Novak semi final.

Kyle Edmund playing really well against Nadal. On serve in the final set.

Interesting all the top seeds bar Murray dropping set already so far, Nadal based on this match is nowhere near his dominant best on clay yet.

Didn't watch Murray's match, but from what I've read, he struggled in his match too.

Nadal has a tough run to win this. Zverev next then potentially Dimitrov, Novak and Murray/Stan.

Seems as though Serena Williams pregnant! Posted this on snapchat. Congrats to her!

If she's 20 weeks pregnant, that roughly means that the foetus was at least 8 weeks old when she won the AO. What I want to know is when specifically during the pregnancy does it become dangerous for a woman to participate in top-level sport. I'm allowing that 8 weeks is ok seeing as she won the AO.

If true (apparently she's deleted it now so who knows) then the WTA will really need Sharapova and Azarenka to hit the ground running when they return. Sounds like Kvitova is on the mend too which would be a bonus.

As for Monte Carlo Nadal's still the favourite for me, Murray won't be a threat for a couple of weeks and Djokovic still looks out of sorts. The Zverev match could be fun though.

Yeah, she did delete it.

When's Azarenka back?

Will be interesting to see what sort of reception Sharapova gets when she does return.

Azarenka's back after Wimbledon I think. I'm hoping Sharapova gets a few boos but I doubt she will in most places. Should be plenty of frosty handshakes at the net though.

Definitely. From what I've read and what I've heard on a couple of tennis podcasts, she wasn't really liked on the WTA before this ban. Think it was Kerber who was a little bit pissed off she even got a wildcard to Stuttgart.
