Oh my goodness that shot!

Unbroken against Nadal in 2 matches/4 sets. If you had told me that only 3 months ago

Get in!!!!!! Roger:drool:

If Nadal can't win on the clay then he might as well retire. As that's where his season will be judged on.

Would like to see Djokovic vs Federer as Djokovic has had a hold on Federer in the last few years. If only Djokovic wakes up.

It's just become a mental thing now against Federer (surprisngly). One break in the first set and Nadal's game just completely disappeared. He went from attacking to lame, limp ,defensive short shots waiting to be hit away. Anyway, can't say I'm surprised with the result.

I would have laughed for sure! It's unbelievable.

It's time for the old man to get some rest now.... need him fit and firing for Wimbledon.

What's with this "he should retire" bullshit Federer and Nadal get hit with all the time? The guy's comfortably number 2 in the ATP race and reached two of the 3 biggest finals of the year ffs.

Djoko seems to have lost his mojo since he won RG. If he gets back anywhere close to his best, he'll beat Federer but I don't think he's getting back to those levels now.

Right now I'd struggle to bet against Nadal for French Open and Federer for Wimbledon and possibly even US Open if he keeps it up.

I'm very interested to see how Nadal does on clay. He should really be much much better. I think Novak is back, so he really only has him to contend with until Murray gets over his injury.

So this croaked grandpa, who we thought couldn't win a challenger anymore*, let alone an ATP tournament wins the only Grand Slam so far, plus two strongest other tournies?

Weirdo!

*exaggaration

Fed may even win Rolland Garros with his form this season

Wawrinka is a more dangerous foe on clay than Murray methinks.

If Nadal can't beat Federer at Miami I doubt he can do it on clay if he plays like he has so far this year.

You don't want him to play at RG?
Sure... but he won't win there.... and I don't want him using up energy on a tournament he's not likely to do well in..

For me, I want him to have the record outright at Wimbledon if at all possible, and then I'll be content:)

He's not been bad on hard courts either but he seems to have forgotten how to play Federer. I don't know what happened to him after 3-3 in the first set. He stopped doing everything he was doing well and it's not even like Federer was great. He himself had a pretty average second set.

Yes that's true. Assuming of course that Stan shows up (he usually does in Slams nowadays tbf)..

From the way he's talked about it and clay in general, I don't think he really cares. I don't think he'll win on clay tbh. All the tight matches he's won, he's been amazing with the serves in those moments. He won't get that on clay and it's a lot more tiring than hard courts.

Yeah even though he'll naturally be gutted that Federer's been getting the better of him, he should still be pleased to be competing at the top level and getting to finals again. Unless Djokovic's at his best I'd have him as the favourite for Roland Garros.

Roger changed the way he plays Rafa so that's a big part of it. Also, the change in Roger's backhand means that Nadal no longer has the chance to attack that side as successfully as he used to do.

Because Rafa ain't winning any hard court events. He made the final really due to Djokovic and Murray being injured and there not being any real challengers.

The clay season is what Rafa will be judged on.

I don't wanna see Rafa ending his career by losing most of the events.

True, but he tends to go missing in some grand slams. Often either falls out before the final or goes all the way and wins.

Nadal is never going to beat the Top top guys on hard courts anymore so I didn't really expect a win today.

"Comeback Player of the Year" should be locked in now :D

I love Rafa's accent when he says 'thank you very much'

This is why I'm not getting carried away by Nadal's start to the season yet. He's not played Murray/Djoko even once and once they're back, making finals won't be so easy anymore.

He'll be able to attack that backhand much better on clay and his lack of a serve won't be that much of an issue there as it's on other surfaces.

91 titles! Oh my goodness
