Both men holding on to that serve like crazy. Nadal looks better overall though. One slip from Roger and that's the set done I would think..
 
Can't believe Fed actually got that break. Was prepared for him to miss them all..
 
Surprise surprise. Nadal still can't serve and still can't take break points and still can't beat Federer. These lame returns on second serve are woeful.
 
Thank goodness. I was holding my breath throughout his service game:lol:
 
Federer playing his most convincing service game at 5:3 and wins a set against Nadal after missing 5 break points. Unthinkable a couple of years ago.

It's only the first set to be fair. Still a long way to go..

Nadal just can't serve well enough to win matches like this anymore imo. You really can't expect to struggle in every single service game and beat Fed.

Nadal's been having a field day serving all tournament, he was all but untouchable in most matches. It's just that Federer is able to deal with his wicked serves better than before.

But he's not serving that bad.. anyway let's see how it goes
 
Just hope this doesn't end in straights. Might do his confidence some damage going into the clay season.

It's all right against average players like Fognini etc. Against your Djokos, Murras and Fed, you really can't be this poor a server. He just gets very few free points on serve.
 
It's not his serve. Nadal isn't using his biggest weapon. Needs to use his forehand more and keep rallies long.
 
More aces than Federer...
Three unreturned serves this game alone.

Big hold for Nadal, looks a lot more confident now than he did at the start of the set.
