I don't think Nadal's movement is that bad really for his age. He's just lost a lot of power in his serve. It was never the best and it's become downright mediocre now. Even in that Aussie Open final, all he needed was some free points on serve in the final set and he didn't have it in him. Federer would lose to a Raonic type big hitter if they absolutely don't miss all game. Plus, he also has a serve that gets him out of trouble all the time.

I think Nadal will be fine on clay, non existent on grass and decent again in NY.

Let's see about that. Both looked very slow to me when I saw them in Indian Wells and Australia.

Maybe I'll know for sure because I plan on going to Cincinatti or NY this year! I would actually love it if Nadal came down a level. His domination of clay was legendary, but boring. I would love to see some new faces there (and Wimbly). I'm praying the other courts are sped up, so we get grass/clay specialists again. Much better era of tennis IMO

Nadal hasn't won RG in 3 years now so he's not going to be a massive favorite going into it anyway. I just want him to win it because this is one of the last few chances he has of adding a Slam to his name. I don't really want faster courts, it'll just produce more servebots who have nothing else to their game.

RG is tough to call. Might be worth chucking a tenner on someone like Kyrgios or Dimitrov at 40/50-1. Sooner or later someone different will establish themselves at/near the very top.

Thiem is the best on clay, out of the younger guys. Dimitrov and Kyrgios have little chance on RG.

Should be a straightforward win for Fed tomorrow (6 wins on the trot vs Berdych dating back to 2014). Kyrgios would probably edge Zverev again (albeit, only one match between them so far so not by any means definitive).

Nadal should make mincemeat out of Fognini. Would be nice to get another Fedal final, although with the way Kyrgios has been playing lately he also deserve a title shot.

I thinkt it's time for a "Weird Feelings about Tennis" thread.
Here's one: Sets in Wozniacki matches always last one hour, no matter the score.

Cheeky bid bet?
I don't think he's good enough to pull it off normally but this season has been very open so far and he's one of the people with a chance if things continue that way. We'd have to see how the clay masters go though, to get an idea where Nadal, Novak and Murray are.

If Thiem is to ever win a Slam though, I'm betting on RG.

Great stuff from Federer this return game

Edit: Holy shit, what a break

The percentage of points Federer wins against serve this season must be his highest in over a decade, surely.

What a fecking player. The day he decides to retire will be tragic for the sport.

Feck, Berdych takes the second. At least Roger will be serving first in the deciding set.

Pretty comfortable second set for Berdych. Got to wonder how much Federer's got left in the tank at this stage.

I'm not even a Roger fan, but something about Berdych really annoys me. Hope Roger takes him out as a final with either Berdych or Fognini would be a disappointment.

Nadal will beat Fognini pretty comfortably and I'd have Kyrgios as a strong favourite against either of these two. A disappointing final would be quite fitting for this tournament though, not been a classic.

I'm stunned Berdych is going to lose this in 3. I know it's an overused term but he's genuinely the biggest bottler there is against the big guys. He just never turns up.

I think Nick would probably beat Nadal if both of them make it to a final. He's just got the sort of power game+serve combo that Nadal often struggles to handle.

3 double faults in a set. That is rare. His serve left him little by little these last few matches.

That's Berdych in a nutshell for you. The biggest bottle job in tennis. Had MP on his racket, missed and then double faults away the match.
