Zverev the Older made 7 unforced errors. That's massive.

Dolgo through 6-1 6-0 6-4. Only caught the last set but he doesn't look convincing on his serve, nearly pissed 2 breaks away from DFs.

Nadal is going to have a field day returning.

Let Nadal make it there first. The way this tournament is going, anything is possible.

Shame Delpo isn't in the bottom half, would have had as good a chance of making the final as anyone else in that section. Could still do some damage but Thiem will be tough.

DelPo up 2 sets to love now. Forehand and serve both solid.

Think he has as good a chance as anyone tbh if he beats Thiem. Both Fed and Nadal are vulnerable.

Apparently someone on German Eurosport said Federer might withdraw. He just showed up to practise so presumably bullshit, but wouldn't exactly be a huge surprise.

No chance he withdraws with two relatively easy matches coming up..

Think if Fedal does finally happen at the US Open, it's probably going to be poorest quality match they've ever played.

Mayer first set. That's just woeful on every level from Nadal. He faced 0 BP in the set, wasted 6 of his own BP and loses it so timidly in the TB. The second serve for Mayer is just guaranteed points. Won't be surprised if Rafa goes out tonight. You can't get away with playing such average tennis in every match.

definitely. He's still in the drivers seat, but considering all the BP's he had in the first set he should've won it.
How exactly is being a set down and unable to take your chances being in the drivers seat?
All he needs to do is play one more similar set here and he's going out.

Would be tough for Mayer to keep that level for 2-3 more sets. Doubt will creep in no doubt and if Nadal raises his level should win comfortably. He won't get too many free points from serve.

Mayer didn't do anything special to win the first one, Nadal missed tons of chances.

Nadal needs to step up and take the initiative. He's playing against a lucky loser that lost to Marterer ranked #125 in straights only couple of days ago. Mayer doesn't even have a big game for him to play 5 yards behind the baseline. :wenger:

You feel like as soon as Rafa gets a break he'll run away with it. His lack of confidence is a bit weird considering this is a straightforward match-up for him.

Nadal just struggles when it is break point. Surely confidence issue.

2 hours for a set and a half... And of course the only time violation's gone to Mayer.

Mayer completely imploded after the first break mentally and Rafa raised his level so normal order resumed I guess.

You gotta say, Nadal has one of the lightest draws of all time. fecking L. Mayer in round 3.

What are you going on about?

What are you expecting with the injuries and players that have been knocked out. Not his fault Gasquet is awful these days and loses to Mayer is it?

If you wanna look at light draws then go look on the other side of the draw because Nadal is on the tough side.

No need to get grumpy.

I'm not.

I'm just asking what are you exactly expecting for the world number one in round three? He was meant to face Gasquet but that wasn't the case. He's meant to face Berdych in round 4 and that wasn't meant to be. Can't really blame him or say it's a light draw when the players he's meant to face get injured or lose and the other side of the draw is miles worse.

No offense. I'm just quite drunk. Disregard anything I say in the next 4 hours :nervous:

They were done for nigh on an hour now. Any longer and the match might even be postponed halfway until tomorrow.

No chance. They'd play early into the night if they have to. Zverev finished his match on Monday at 2am New York time.
