Who do we see making the final from the bottom half then? I'm thinking Querrey or Anderson.

Not been watching any of them, but wouldn't fancy the winner of PCB/Schwartzman

Querrey would probably be the favourite in any circumstances but after his performance last night and with the crowd behind him I'd say he's the overwhelming favourite to make it. Anderson beat him fairly comfortably in Montreal though, and their Wimbledon match was pretty tight so who knows.

I fear Rafa's match could be equally uncompetitive. Thiem vs Delpo should be fun.

Dolgopolov never really showed up today.
Rublev won the first set against Goffin.

Was not expecting a good first set from Rafa at all  Nice he finally played one decently.

The Top 3 have a crazy record when winning the first sets in Slams.

Nadal : 190-4
Djoko : 200-5
Fed : 286-13

Rublev next for Rafa (2 sets and a break up against Goffin). Known to be a fairly unconventional youngster and Rafa has come come unstuck against a few on a few occasions. Not really seen him play to know what he's like. I only remember him for being quite funny at this years Wimbledon.

I think he doesn't have what it takes yet to take out Nadal in a QF, but he's had a great tournament.

I'd be worried about Rublev. Too many kids too often have chosen Nadal to make their statement wins against. Plus he's played very well this week.

Really interesting, that. I mean, the number of concessions is still low enough to make sweeping interpretations hard, but it sort of goes against what I assumed it would look like i.e. Federer would be the best front runner and would be more likely to get pegged back in matches, whereas Nadal and Djokovic would have that brilliant attritional style of being able to just gring away a one set defecit without much of an issue. All of which is still true, tbf, I just expected it to be tilted slightly differently.

Haven't seen a massive amount of Del Potro during the hard court season. Is his backhand still shot to pieces?
In a word, yes. Still needs to be dominating with his forehand in the rallies.

He has near half as much matches as the other 2. I'd think the bulk of those losses were incurred late on in his career.

The only way we can draw a fair assumption is when all 3 are done playing.

Shame. It was quite sad seeing him the last few times, basically unable to snap his wrist over the ball on the backhand side. You'd hope that was a degree of nevousness, rather than a genuine inability to actually do it.

Otherwise, for anyone interested, the Tennis Podcast (Eurosport/The Telegraph) is doing a daily pod which is usually released in time for the morning commute. Usually gives a good round up of things and has an interview or two.

Thiem 3-0 up.

Thiem forcing Del Potro to use his backhand. But Del Potro has the trainer out, so might have issues.

Sad to watch. Del Potro can't hold to save his life at the moment.

Really hope Thiem can play somewhere close to his best vs Fed and doesn't fold in 3 sets.

Del Potro come back on?

Would be typical of him to pull this back.

Del Potro has stepped up. But Thiems been a disaster this set so far.

Nadal - 2%
Djok - 2.5%
Fed - 4.5%

Federer had a very soft start to his career and he's also had that blip of adjustment with ageing.

If the others play as many I'd expect to see them creep up to 4%. If they go out on top and retire earlier, obviously they wont.

Thiem choked badly. He has no chance against Fed, if he gets through.

Plus he stands next to Nadal too much for my liking.

I've only actually seen Thiem play twice before this match but every time I see him he just wildly smashes his backhand out all the time. Guy doesn't seem to have much restraint.

Del Potro! What a strike on set point, somehow he's dragged this match to a fifth set.

He's much better on clay. I don't think he'd do much on hard courts.

There we have it. Kyrgios should watch the attitude Delpo has shown especially after the first two sets.
