Gruntapova out. Needs that guy Meldonium back on the coaching team.
I told you.Was not expecting a good first set from Rafa at all Nice he finally played one decently.
Rublev next for Rafa (2 sets and a break up against Goffin). Known to be a fairly unconventional youngster and Rafa has come come unstuck against a few on a few occasions. Not really seen him play to know what he's like. I only remember him for being quite funny at this years Wimbledon.
Would be pretty funny if Weasel Face boy turns out to be the successful one ahead of Sascha and Shapovalov.I think he doesn't have what it takes yet to take out Nadal in a QF, but he's had a great tournament.
Really interesting, that. I mean, the number of concessions is still low enough to make sweeping interpretations hard, but it sort of goes against what I assumed it would look like i.e. Federer would be the best front runner and would be more likely to get pegged back in matches, whereas Nadal and Djokovic would have that brilliant attritional style of being able to just gring away a one set defecit without much of an issue. All of which is still true, tbf, I just expected it to be tilted slightly differently. The Top 3 have a crazy record when winning the first sets in Slams.
Nadal : 190-4
Djoko : 200-5
Fed : 286-13
In a word, yes. Still needs to be dominating with his forehand in the rallies.Haven't seen a massive amount of Del Potro during the hard court season. Is his backhand still shot to pieces?
He has near half as much matches as the other 2. I'd think the bulk of those losses were incurred late on in his career.Really interesting, that. Shame. It was quite sad seeing him the last few times, basically unable to snap his wrist over the ball on the backhand side. You'd hope that was a degree of nevousness, rather than a genuine inability to actually do it.In a word, yes. Still needs to be dominating with his forehand in the rallies.

Not.And Thiem breaks again. Think this is done
I've only actually seen Thiem play twice before this match but every time I see him he just wildly smashes his backhand out all the time. Guy doesn't seem to have much restraint.
