Telegraph Investigation: England Manager Sam Allardyce For Sale | Big Sam leaves England job

There must be more to come out still, there's no way he's been sacked for that alone.

Watch the videos of the CEO and Head of FA, it would simply be way too hypocritical for English football to continue with him as manager of the national team. The FA can't encourage or scrutinise clubs in this country on moral and correct practices if our very own manager has been outsed as a crook (even if it's something we all secretly knew). It's a similar principle as to why Redknapp never got it. The England Manager whether we like it is far more than just about being able to produce results on the pitch which is why they've always gone for very much "yes" men. This is very different to a club situation where a good bit of PR could help put the story to bed.

Yeah I'm with @Brwned on this, I've actually always liked Allardyce but this is just plain stupid and irresponsible, he deserves the sack. I think the part which sums it all up for me is that he did this WHILST HE WAS ENGLAND MANAGER, I mean seriously, you'd think after getting the job of a lifetime, you'd do everything in your power to stay clear of such talk and not put yourself in such a situation, especially knowing the insane spotlight placed on any England manages. Yet not even two months into the role and he's doing this, you can't begin to comprehend the level of arrogance he's showing here, wow. Completely justified sacking.

Who has been outed as a crook? The main accusation is he said you can get around third party like we supposedly did with Rojo, are we crooks now? We must be if that's dodgy.

I just always assumed this kind of consultancy was common place to be honest, it isnt obviously dodgy backroom activity.

If he'd said these things on the record then i could understand it.

Arrogance is the right word. Hadn't led the team out at Wembley and now never will. I don't doubt this was his dream job. He's talked about it for years. Everyone has ambitions and while one of his is to manage Real Madrid (lol) the England job was realistic as one of the better English managers out there (says a lot of our state of coaching).

International football managers have a lot of time on their hands and as a high profile one he should have been careful with approaching outside opportunities. Where was the due diligence?

Cant believe he bad mouthed William and Harry. The rest of the stuff is par for the course but leave the lads out of it. Hopefully hanging for treason is still a thing.

Absolutely. Also the massive berk seemed a bit reluctant to pick Rushford or Rashford.

Everyone keeps saying how this is Big Sam's dream job but what if that's because of the financial reward of the job rather than the prestigeness of it? He's obviously extremely motivated by money or else he wouldn't be trying to get an extra 200k on top of the 3 million he's getting a year. Perhaps the main reason why he's always wanted a top job in football is because of the money that comes with it as opposed to be being at the top of the game. Don't get me wrong most people are motivated by financial rewards but this goes beyond hat

All I know is if i had and I'm sure many of us here on this forum got our so called dream jobs that we had been after for 20 years than we would not do a single thing to put that in jeopardy yet alone a couple of weeks after getting it. Maybe there's more to it but for me what he's done is beyond recklesness for someone after their so called "Dream Job"

I know what you're saying but it's just not how it works for high achievers. He won't have considered it reckless.

Big egos, alpha male types, they always want more. There's so many examples of this.

I don't like that type of person but I've come to realise that in the big high profile football jobs you kind of have to be that way.

History will judge him on his win % so he'll be top of the list for a while ;)
That job though, as prestigious as it sounds, seems like a poisoned chalice.

I think I've guessed two of the 8 based off of those 'rumours are... ' I've heard over the years.
Dick(head) Tracey over here..

What's good ol' 'Arry is up to these days? Any chance his wheelin' dealin' deeds will somehow surface from the fallout of all this?

The thing is that the FA must have already had some idea of what's going on. It now turns out that Cardiff City have even reported a dodgy deal with West Ham when Big Sam was manager to the FA.
The attitudes within the game are still stuck in the 70's.

Looks to me that the FA failed to do sufficient due diligence before appointing Allardyce. Too many worrying stories in his past that he just about got away with because of a lack of evidence. Even Red Issue were tweeting about that Panorama episode within weeks of his appointment. Michael Crick too. In hindsight, it was just a question of when it all unravelled.

How many England managers can say they had a 100% win record though?

In less than 2 months he's achieved what took numerous England managers a combined 50 years: He didn't win a title.

Deep down we all knew it was going to end without a trophy, so rather sooner than later.

He wouldn't be a bad appointment really, well better than most of the names that are being thrown out there.

He's a complete moron, but unfortunately corruption is rife in every corner of top level football. Couldn't care less about who replaces him, or the national team.

I seem to recall there was an accusation that Big Sam tried to force Ravel Morrison to switch agents at West Ham and refused to play him as a consequence of his refusal. Always curious what that was all about.

I'd appoint Sven Goran Erikson. He was the last guy who made you guys competitive

Next time I'll post all my first thoughts on the Caf especially for you nobusjockus. But I didn't think you needed to be a clairvoyant to guess that Big Sam was bent as feck. Jesus...
I will be following your posts with great interest.

Lars Lagerbäck (Iceland manager) would be a great choice tbh. It would be hilarious, he is very likeable too.

One positive thing for Sam is that in a few years, after his successor has failed, he'll be looked upon as a martyr. His friends in the media will start lamenting that he shouldn't have gotten the sack, and he'll revel in being the only manager with a 100% record. His reputation is tarnished but not really his abilities as a coach.
This will be interesting to see - I was thinking he will probably end up doing a Big Ron and disappearing into obscurity. Time will tell I guess.

I've noticed the lack of surprise in this thread. No-one is saying "WOW , didn't see that coming!"

That's the really sad thing from this plus the fact that there is a number of current and past managers that didn't sleep too good last night.

As regards as sucessor.....I couldn't give a shit. I'm fed up with the fa fecking up everything with politically correct appointments and beauocratic bollocks.

I'm fed up with qualifying for world cups and for them to come back home ,tails between legs at the earliest opportunity.

£750mil on a stadium because we invented footy that we use 8 times a year when they could have put in 300 pitches around the country for that. The telegraph should be investigating that too for Christ's sake.

Feck em, feck em all. I stick with my club, thanks.

There is a difference between buying out a player's 3rd party ownership, at a time when it was still legal in parts of football, and advising on how to set up 3rd party ownership at a time where it is globally ilegal.

So Sam was just helping out a friend... Straight out of the Ted Crilly school of economic ethics that one! Harry has come out in his defence as well, complaining about the dirty trapping tactics of the press.

Channel 5 couldn't make this shit up for a b grade footballers wife rip off.

More to come:

In quotes | Managers on the make ... as described by agents

Manager 1

Ex-Premier League manager allegedly liked “bungs” in cash or deposited in a Swiss bank account. Pagliara said: “I can call [X] now and all it is with [X] is 'How much, Pino? And will it be the same Swiss bank account?’”

Manager 2

Ex-top flight manager has had “more backhanders than Wimbledon”. Pagliara said: “This is what I hate... the guy that used to need the money but he’s had so much now that all of a sudden he’s whiter than white.”

Manager 3

After managing several British clubs, he was allegedly fired by one for having “his fingers in the till”. Pagliara said he would get involved if “you understand that when we do deals I have to have a carrier bag with some cash”.

Manager 4

Pagliara said of this boss with Premier League experience: “We know him very, very well. We do a transfer, [X] has winked at us and said 'Yeah, I want the player. Is there a little coffee for me, Pino?’ Yeah, course there is.”

Manager 5

Ex-Premier League manager who, said Pagliara, would call him and say “here’s the number”, and give him details of a Swiss account. He said: “It was always numbered accounts.”

Manager 6

A former player who now manages, he allegedly likes extra money to secure deals because he is not on a big salary at his club. Pagliara said: “[X] takes a few [inaudible] because he’s not being paid big money.”

Manager 7

Ex-Premier League manager is another “we can put on the payroll”. If a player was transferred for £10m, “we’ll turn round to [X] and say, listen, if you take this player we’ll look after you. OK? OK, boom.”

Manager 8

Agent Dax Price said this long-serving manager would pick three trusted players and tell them he was paying them an extra £8,000 per month, on condition that they paid him £4,000 per month each.

I wonder how many on here are guessing the mangers, and how many have Harry top of the list.
I read a rumour a while back about a manager who refused to play players on high appearance bonuses unless he was given half of the fee.
Another manager who was suddenly let go because the club found out about his little scam.
I'm a simple farmer from Ireland. God knows what a genuine reporter is able to dig up.

People trying to bend/avoid/get around regulations in order to make/save money. Shocking stuff.
I don't know about you guys but my eyes are now open!

I don't get your point? Do you think people are surprised or that the offenders should get away with it?

Well, I know who I think this one sounds like.

Would have thought the one in mind would show better character than that though.

Are The Telegraph going to tell us who these accused managers are?
