Great game by Elkjaer. Not a vintage performance by any mean, as he ploughed a lonely furrow up front for the vast majority of the match and had to feed on scraps throughout the match, against a Scirea-led defense, which would go on to win the World Cup. Keep in mind that this was a Laudrup-less Danish side which was yet to reach it's explosive peak (and in some ways Elkjaer too), although it's always great to have Simosen on your side.
However, for anyone wondering why Elkjaer has the moniker 'The Crazy Man from Lokeren' or the 'Human Locomotive', you couldn't do any worse than to watch this one. Insane running off the ball, non-stop aggressive pressing and of course his sheer persistence pays off eventually with 2 assists and several other great runs and plays which weren't provided with the same level of service which they deserved.

More often than not I seem to catch him when he is having an okay-ish or a poor game, for some reason.
Was absolutely splendid against Maradona's Napoli though, man marking El Pibe out of the game, although Maradona wasn't exactly at his peak. Shame that there isn't much comprehensive footage available of that Hellas Veronas side where he arguably was at his peak, winning the German Footballer of the Year in a strong vintage.
BTW, @oneniltothearsenal Just tagging you as you requested for more info on Elkjaer and his playing style. More footage on the way, hopefully (rather swamped right now).
Great compilation, cheers. Did you make that yourself? If so, very well done. It does do a great job showing the nuance of Elkjaer's style and movement that I was curious about. thanks for putting that together. He's definitely a player I was curious to learn more about.
