Film Superman (2025)

I think it looks good. Then again, I dont tend to over analyse stuff like that as long as we get a good story / movie.
I also dont subscribe to the 'its hard to do Superman as hes OP'.
Just give me a Lex Luther that’s written as well as Smallville Lex. Make Lex the main villain. Yes he may have super villains he’s hiring to fight his battles, or fight in his war suit. But I just want a classic Lex, I want to take over the world villain.

I also want the same with Spiderman/ King Pin. They’ve created a superb King Pin from the Daredevil show.

Falling woman - "Help I'm falling oh shiiiiiitttt!"
Man in Crowd - "What the shit! Look at that thing in the sky!"
Man in Crowd wearing Drax hoodie - "Shit!"
Man in Crowd - "Is it a bird? Is it a-"
Woman wearing 1980s glam rock hoodie - "Yeah, naw, we ain't doing that. Nope. Nuhuh."
Man in Crowd - "Why you gotta do that?"
Woman wearing 1980s glam rock hoodie - "Oh, I'm sorry. Am I interrupting your forced attempt to use an old catchphrase, to weaponise nostalgia instead of doing something new?"

*Insert two minutes of back and forth banter involving dick jokes*

Man in Crowd wearing Drax hoodie - "I wish that flying guy would suck MY dick..."

While we're talking about Smallville they still haven't had a better Lois than Erica Durance. She was perfect.

Sniders superman costume (and all his customes really) were comic accurate.
Which comics? Certainly not the classic ones.

Anyway, the costumes were the least of the problems with Snider's films. He worked with a good costume designer on most of those films. The only one that I thought was genuinely bad was the Flash in Justice League.

Bitsie in superman and Lois / arrowverse is great though.

Yeah lex has to be the overall guy that's always there no matter the villains

I always felt Courtney Cox would have been a perfect Lois in the 90s/early 2000s. She plays a very Lois-esque character in the Scream movies. Amy Adams, while a fantastic actor, was always miscast in that role.

I haven't seen a superhero movie more recent than say 2014. Do people still watch these?

No, not a single person went to any of the superhero movies made in the last decade. Nobody really knows how they still managed to rake in about $10bn with no audience.

It's not just me, is it? It is absolute shite, right?

I know you need to reinvent stuff for film, especially when you're on the tenth version of a character on screen, but seriously, this is strangely both reductive and overly fussy at the same time. It also looks like someone made it with the latest graphics technology from 1996.

It makes sense. It's the symbol for the House of El, part of an alien civilisation 100's of lightyears away. It makes sense to not look exactly like earths letter S. It kind of looks similar which explains why the Daily Planets see's the symbol and gives him the name Superman because of it looking fairly similar to the letter S

Yeah, I'm aware of the back story. It's just a very cheap-looking and ham-fisted take on a classic piece of pop culture symbology.

Gonna need some lines to be drawn to make sure it's centred before I can pass judgement.

Just ignoring the reason as to why it looks like that? It doesn't make any sense for it to be an earth letter S.
I mean aesthetically. The rendering of it. The shape of it. The weird shiny texture. The actual qualities of the artwork, I'm talking about, not the likeness to a letter S.

The shape is just the Kingdom Come one, which I think is a fair choice to feel like a new telling with some grounding in the comics. The texture seems a bit metallic so it could be the Kryptonian ship or something.

True, although in the classic colours but with a weird bevelled edge and digital lighting added, it just looks a bit crap. And I'm a big fan of Alex Ross's work, so it's nice to see it escape the pages he painted, but it just hasn't done it justice.

So many of the character designs and costumes have leaked from this already. I feel like I have seen almost every character now. Green lantern, Hawkgirl, Mr. Terrific.

I prefer the Hawktuahgirl.

Is there any word if the classic John Williams theme is making a comeback for this one?

How’s it different? Can’t say I recall superhero logos / crests off the top of my head. I can barely picture United’s ffs.

The Superman logo has gone through quite a few variations over the years. This new one seems to be a version of the 'Kingdom Come' logo from 1996 (think its from a comic where its an older Clark /superman). Brandon Routh's superman wore it in a cameo recently in that 'Superman & lois' tv show

It was in a different Arrowverse show that Routh appeared. He's not been in Lois and Clark.

The costume was better than the one in the new film, too!

Ahh my bad, knew it was a scene with Tyler Hoechlin , so auto assumed it was his show

Yeah his suit looks ace in that. Always thought Brandon Routh was superb casting for Clark/Superman (despite Superman Returns being a bit meh)
