Film Superman (2025)

The teaser is incredible. Something about the music, the choice of shots and situations shown has created atmosphere and emotion in less than 3 minutes. Dont think I've felt that kind of emotion in a superhero film since the opening of Black Widow - and thats because it shows child soldiers and child victims. Absolutely my most anticipated movie after this.

Every Superman film of my lifetime has been some really dour shit about a really boring dude… this at least looks fun

Hopefully we might finally have a worthy successor to Reeve, looks promising.

Im excited.

Might be time to dust out the old odeon pass. You got fantastic four in may, then this and thunderbolts in July. Comic book fans eating good, finally, next year.

So there's a dog.
That's just the beginning and you all know I'm right.

Falling woman - "Help I'm falling oh shiiiiiitttt!"
Man in Crowd - "What the shit! Look at that thing in the sky!"
Man in Crowd wearing Drax hoodie - "Shit!"
Man in Crowd - "Is it a bird? Is it a-"
Woman wearing 1980s glam rock hoodie - "Yeah, naw, we ain't doing that. Nope. Nuhuh."
Man in Crowd - "Why you gotta do that?"
Woman wearing 1980s glam rock hoodie - "Oh, I'm sorry. Am I interrupting your forced attempt to use an old catchphrase, to weaponise nostalgia instead of doing something new?"

*Insert two minutes of back and forth banter involving dick jokes*

Man in Crowd wearing Drax hoodie - "I wish that flying guy would suck MY dick..."
Not that I'll be complaining when I watch it...

Nicolas Hoult has been ready to play a total sociopath Lex Luthor since Skins season 1 Tony Stonem

Think it looks great but I can't help but like Superman so it would've been hard for me to find it shit. The well meaning down to Earth fella with unfathomable power just appeals to me.

Clark's feckboy haircut is another matter though.

Just for once I want there to be an evil dog in one of these films.

Theres a couple of "evil" cats in dc comics,

cant think of any evil dogs off the top of my head. Chances of seeing either of these in the movies? Well theres a green lantern in this Superman so theres a decent chance on the first one, and second would be to do with Dr. Fate, Zatanna and magic so maybe.

I really like the trailer. Especially how they nerfed his powers. It is interesting that we'll see new superhero characters. This doesn't look like your standard origin story, the story looks really smart.

The dog will save the whole thing.. or turn to the dark side. In any case, needs to have a meaty role.

Looks fun.

So is this a complete reboot from the beginning?

Yes

but... Some things in the universe are already canon. Things have been confirmed in Creature Commandos which is 4 episodes in and great, The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker have been confirmed as canon. But with regards to Superman and Batman it'll be a reboot. They technically had a scene at the end of Peacemaker season 1, that isnt canon. Other than that those shows and movies didnt really feature Superman and Batman, other than Bloodsport is said to be in prison because he shot Superman with a kryptonite bullet.

Thanks, well out of the loop with the DC universe. Haven't kept up to date with the various shows/films aside from Batman.

Great homage to John William's Superman theme.

Most googled word today would be Yamcha pose.

I like the trailer is all music, no dialogue.

I mistakenly thought it was Richard Ayoade meandering through the crowd near the beginning.

My prediction for the story based on the teaser

(I am completely making this up but putting in a spoiler tag just in case any of it is right and people dont want to see it. I do refer to what happens in the comics for one character though)

Justice League International funded by Stag Industries, but serving the Government and Lex Luthor is managing to turn the Government and at least some (maybe most) people against Superman.

The scene with the kid in a foreign nation planting the Superman flag and asking for help, perhaps Superman helps but is either seen as overstepping his bounds or perhaps the collateral damage has poor optics politically.

The purple thing in the sky is Metamorpho. This part does happen in the comics so comics spoiler here :

Metamorpho is Stagg industries trying to create a metahuman. But things dont go as hoped and he ends up with his monsterish appearance.

Looks like the Fortress is raided and Kellex is destroyed. Perhaps this will be where Luthor gets or learns about kryptonite

The scene shown with Mr. Terrific shielding himself and someone on the floor has Lex/Luthorcorp soldiers attacking them. So by that point I think the veil is lifted and the JLI will be on the same side as Superman. Perhaps this will end with the Gunn favourite Kaiju. Perhaps the JLI will provide some support for Superman as he takes on the large monster, or they hold off Luthor's troops so he cant interfere.

First time I’m finding it believable that Clark Kent ain’t Superman in the movies.

That said, he looks like Tom Holland as Superman

Saw someone say on the previous page that this looks brilliant. Consider me befuddled. This looks as lame and cheesy as feck.

Zero excitement generated by that steaming pile of turd of a trailer.

Why are they remaking this yet again?
Superman's always been the cheesiest and dullest superhero for me, even though firing lasers out the eyes is a cool power. The trailer looks better than expected though and the film could kill two hours on a flight.

Would you say you're guessing at a timeline here?

Yeah I'm just guessing at where these different pieces would fit together, they could happen in another order or none of it could happen

I did have one extra thought about something thats possible

(Spoiler is again a guess, but refers to what a character can do in the comics and I compare him to what another character can do in the comics. So dont read if you dont want to know what happens in the comics)

Metamorpho's powers allow him to transmute his body into different materials, liquids and gasses. Another character who can transmute in the comics is Firestorm. He is actually able to transmute materials into kryptonite. So another potential way for kryptonite to come into play is that Metamorpho (the guy with the purple shoulder and who is probably in that purple thing in the sky) could transmute it like Firestorm. I dont think hes done it in the comics before and if he hasnt, it might be mixing the ideas with the Firestorm story who has a similar ability in some ways. Now, in order to transmute materials into kryptonite... Well, he'd need to know what kryptonite is. So that part would still need to be found from the fortress or some other means to know that its something that can be used against Superman.

Not too shabby, and Gunn does have a good idea about how to tap audience beats.

Brosnahahahan is quite pretty too, so that helps.

Wait until all the people moaning about another Superman movie hear about all the comic book iterations there have been.

I wish I didn't read this because I think this will be pretty accurate
